It's actually really cute when Julia says "I couldn't help it! It was too good! I was his biggest fan." In my opinion, he was funniest part of Seinfeld.
I agree, but having a little experience in taping scenes myself, I'd say working with her must have been a living hell. It's hard work for everybody, but specially those who are not actors and nobody knows how many takes you will need and therefore how much longer you'll need to stay there. And having everything delayed over and over because she just laughs - on top of, I guess, other regular problems - must have been hard.
@Adventurestud You have to understand that a lot of Kramer's comedy was physical. It's very difficult to recreate facial and body expressions, along with your lines, over and over again. This is why he got a tad frustrated when he was forced to redo scenes.
Every time I see Julie break up during a scene, it reminds me of the blooper reel from A Bugs Life when Hopper is threatening Atta and she can't keep it together. I wonder if that was inspired by these.
I'm african american and I hold nothing against Richards, he apologized and I felt it to be sincere. He is hilarious though. And just a note: Is Julia ever not gorgeous!

If Kramer had not been a character on that show (and not played by Michael Richards), I can guarantee the sitcom would've been a major failure. As far as I'm concerned, he single-handedly saved that show from being canceled. They needed his character to offset the otherwise mundane, boring situations that weren't really funny. He added his own flare to the character and to the sitcom that made it the massive hit it turned out to be. Kudos to him and his amazing creativity!
As a team effort I would put Kramer as the first star talent, George and Elaine tied for second place and Seinfeld at last because he was really just playing himself and out of three is the most replaceable. but the team is perfect can't mess with it.
He was the quirky scene stealer who made everything more interesting. But the series didn't depend on him. Look at how well the Michael Richards show did. It was night and day. For me, the most important dynamic was with George and Jerry (which makes sense since George is based off co-writer and co-creator Larry David) and honestly Elaine and Jerry was just behind. Nobody could replace Kramer, but he was the least important of the four. The show got its notoriety and became a bonafide hit in its fourth season if I remember correctly. The show that changed everything according to Jason Alexander was The Contest. That was a full ensemble piece and nobody stood out particularly. Michael Richards didn't save the show. Masturbation did.
It's funny how Michael Richards is so lovable as Kramer, but not so much in real life, yet Jason Alexander is so hated for his characters, but so lovable in real life.
Not really. Jerry was notorious for laughing the most. He even jokes about it when he guest starred on Curb. Michael Richards wasn't upset about the hours. He was just very into his craft. He later told Jerry he wished he'd had more fun (on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee). I personally don't since I don't think he would have made the character as good if he wasn't into his method, but we don't need to pretend Julia laughs more than the usual amount these sitcom actors laugh or pretend Michael Richards didn't have unusual anger issues.
