@digitidea Literature review is usually the easiest way to get lost in research. I Have so many questions as I am about to begin my PhD in wind farm modelling and control. 1. At what stage do I begin to download the literature that have searched for using keywords and advanced search? Is it before I qualify them or after? Would you advise I download all literature from my search of various databases before qualifying them. 2. About how many literature would you suggest is adequate for a good literature review? 3. Also do you have any suggestions as to how to manage the process. I mean in terms of downloading, categorizing, folder management etc.. the way I do it is to have a folder for read and unread. I'll like to hear more productive ways to do it. 4. How much time would be proper to use in studying a relevant literature say an article from a journal? I sometimes get drawn in as I find words or concepts I didn't know before reading the paper and then I pause reading and try to understand those concepts, ideas or words by googling them or reading scientific blogs about the topic and sometimes in the process I encounter another word or concept I have to try to understand. At the end of the day, I might have gone so deep on just one concept or idea from just 1 paper that I haven't even finished reading. Sometimes this can happen so many times in one paper. How long will you advise I try to spend on a paper? 5. What method would you advise I use in taking note of my review? Is there a software or template that one can use take note of findings associated with each literature? 6. When is the best time to write your literature review chapter? as you study? Or after you are done studying? I know I have many questions 😃. I will really appreciate if I can get a detailed response.
