I am writing a dissertation in economics we’re we use different models for assessing impact of regional trade arrangements. Dear Professor Munim, Could you please provide guidance on how to choose co-authors who can actually contribute? How to reach them and propose a partnership? I have been struggling with it and would love to get some guidance on this point. Thank you very much in advance!

It depends on whom are you working with. (1) If you are working with experienced professors who are already established, chances are they will not actively write with you. They will contribute through idea development and feedback on improvement and ensuring robustness. (2) When you become experienced professor, and work with juniors, most likely the juniors will do all the work and you will contribute through idea development and improvement feedback. (3) Your best chance to have co-author who actively contribute is to work with people who are same level as you, regardless of your career level. Good luck!

@@mikorees5853 Idea development is one of the most important factor for publishing in high quality journals. Most young scholar struggle to come up with novel research questions and ideas. So, collaborating with experienced professors brings a lot on the table.

I would be very happy to work with an experienced professor who has published papers that I dream of publishing.
