- After doing some basic maintenence on the engine in the last video, I've set about with the clutches to try and make the operation of the mower a bit less random.
Warning: I hadn't planned on that sock choice making it onto the camera. Sorry in advance. #webconferencelyf
I put a copy of the manual here by the way if anyone needs it: bit.ly/3l18pCB - Навчання та стиль
Good film , just got one of these and am going through the belt change, very informative
thanks
This is a brilliant explanation video. I had a problem with the blades continuously spinning at idle speed and your video was a real problem solver. One of the centrifugal clutch assemblies was sticking in the engaged mode, almost seized. Must say it took a bit of freeing off but I got there. Now it's better than ever. Wouldn't have known how to diagnose this without your video. Thank you.
You're welcome.
Thank you for posting the colt manual. I find when adjusting the drive chain to 13mm, this can slightly alter the cylinder clearance with the bottom blade. This happens because the distance between the two drive sprockets varies when rotated, even if the bush and bearings are sound. The chain links and teeth are manufactured to a very approx.size. It is a recognised practise when adjusting chains, to mark the chain with a piece of cotton or tape and check the clearance in 3 separate locations on the chain to obtain an average clearance. I would suggest setting the cylinder cutting clearance first with a piece of paper. Then adjust the chain clearance and finally re-check the cylinder setting.Ideally the cylinder should rotate quite freely by hand with minimum contact with the bottom blade, just enough to cut paper.
Losing the light and wearing shades. A solution becomes apparent, me thinks. Great video. Thank you. Suffolk Colts less of a mystery now.
When forced to choose between style and visibility, I know what side of the fence I'm on.
Good tutorial..
I have one of these in my shed which I must get round to sorting, probably one of the best mowers ever made..!
Where did you get your parts from please?
Thanks! Since this video mine is once again broken. Will do another soon.
So parts of eBay. Lots of options.
Well done on that wish I still had my qualcast (not as classic as yours though)
Thanks! Going to be a joy if I can get it cutting straight again.
Hey man. Just bought this mower in a good find but its not running. Stoked I came across your videos as they are really helpful for me. However, would you mind linking the part numbers of new parts you put on? I cant seem to find a new belt
There's a manual linked in the comments which I think has part numbers. But I just went on eBay and searched the mower model.
Hello. I have the same lawnmower, but unfortunately I don't have a grass basket, how can I get one😢
Have a look on eBay I guess?
Hi can you give me a link as to where you found the technical info for the Suffolk Punch
Sure, there's a download link in the description for the manual.
I'm currently restoring my super punch as well. Could you tell me what the specs are for that v belt? Cheers
I couldn't tell you the specs I'm afraid. Here's a link to the one I bought though...

@@TooManyProjects thank you. Is your roller also split into two for turning or is it one solid piece?
@@emersonsims9503 It's one solid roller at teh back.
Good morning. I need assistance please. I have a Dual Drive Suffolk Power Punch 17". I need to replace the clutch plates. On a manual I have found, the part number is L.5319, but my number is L.5318. I do not not know what to do now.
I couldn't tell you the answer I'm afraid. 5318 and 5319 sound like they might be similar though? Can you still get both? Maybe 5319 is an updated replacement for 5318. If you can still get both, maybe buy both and return one when you can see them in the flesh?
Wish I know where to buy it??
@@wicuserasmus2925 eBay?
how old is it
I'm not sure, I would guess some point in the 70s.
