Picked up this old Suffolk Punch 30s for £10 off ebay. It needed a bit of TLC but seems a good old mower if you want that classic English striped lawn.
My blades do not move because of rust how do I free them I have cleaned the rust with WD 40 but still no movement? Also My pull cable broke but it has a starter motor, do need to connect the starter to a battery 12v or 6v and how exactly do i connect it ?
Hi, I picked up the same model a few weeks ago but I can figure out how to judge the oil level. There’s no dipstick on the fill cap on mine. Any ideas good sir?
Hi, I can't remember and don't have it here with me to look at. Perhaps check to see if a spare part is availabe online and see if that has a dipper on it, they you may be able to scale it from a photo to get a rough idea. Else look down the hole with a torch and see if there is a shelf or stop for a dipper. Ive not opened a punch engine up but many mower engines have a simple oil flicker or the bottom of the crank flicks it.. see if you can see. I couldnt find the oil capacity else you could just drain it and refil. If it was here, Id nip out and give you the measurement.
Only that they work best if you keep the lawn cut, they dont like those tough strands that grow fast out of the lawn. Other than that they are nice little mowers.
