Every time they teleport back to the Long Library, I can imagine the game wheezing and coughing as it tries to display the name of the area, but can't finish the animation before they phase through the floor and leave.
@@scottrauch1261 I think it's common practice in speedrun communities to just draw the line between which tech are considered glitches and which ones don't.
If it were my call, I'd say that anything deliberately built into the game, like the Name-input modes available after a Clear Game, or even Luck Mode which is Always available, Those are features and Easter Eggs. Anything that creates a programmer- unintended malfunction of the normal gameplay is a Glitch, even curtain glitches. I'd even include skipping the Death Cutscene in that second list. I'd still say Natural exploits are fine, like using Hydro Storm to no-Damage the Bloodlines fight, or using Duplicator for infinite Bat Pentagrams, for example. That's just me, tho.
I always felt the later Metroidvanias did basically everything better than SotN. It is very good, but the difficulty is an absolute joke and the Inverted Castle isn't exactly great game design. Inventory management is undeniably better in later games. I would say it's an important step in the series, but I wouldn't say best.
@@VorpalTiger 3/4 circle starting from Up, roll the D-Pad/Control Stick backward (relative to the direction you're facing) to the forward position, AND the Jump button must be held from before you roll the stick, until a frame after you finish the directional input. That's a long way of saying: [Hold JUMP] Up, UpBack, Back, DownBack, Down, DownForward, Forward, [Release JUMP] If you ever do a Richter run, You'll want to practice this a lot, because Richter has a very similar move that uses the same Directional input, but uses a tap of the Whip button at the end instead of holding JUMP throughout. Doesn't go nearly as far as the bat, but if you practice chaining repeatedly, you can get a similar "flying" effect. Combine that with High-Jump practice and you can theoretically finish Richter Mode in under 7 minutes, No Glitches.
WR is a 40:28 and from the reset the run was a low 41. So no PB. It was mostly a joke since my last sgdq run was tought to be a record but the timer was just off.
Could someone please explain why Alucard turns into a pair of chicken drumsticks about 32:33 mins in instead of the bat, is it just a graphics glitch or a random rare goofy thing the devs snuck in?
I'm late but it's only a graphic glitch. When you get a level up or grab a relic/hp up/heart up, the screen freeze for a few seconds. If you transform (From wolf to bat, in this case) the game get confuse and bug out. It only change the graphic and does not affect the gameplay what so ever
A famous speedrun strategy is to skip the part where death takes your equipment, so that you can run around with all of the best stuff and just focus on getting through everything asap.
There are several glitches for skipping it. The one I remember doing was starting a game with the code that lowered your defense and let the warg hit you in such a way that it would sent you flying to the other room faster than Death animation.
Hey, uhh, do you people know what a man is? I *think* they're a miserable little pile of secrets, but I'm not exactly sure... Please don't take this out of context
How is this run glitchless? Underflowing numbers and clipping in ways that arent dev intended are absolutely glitches, unless words no longer have definitions.
There should be a donation incentive to include the "Die, monster!" speech
Applause to the magic spells that i never could pull off and then after 6 years found out that they had the wrong combination
Wait what??
?⬆↖⬅↙⬇↘➡?
And with a Xbox 360 controller as well
I have searched for the inputs for fucking rain storm and have yet to find them still.
I found out the input by spamming things in-game lmao
@@jreycrx even with guide cant get that danm wing smash

Lol😂🤣🤣
Isn't that most speedruns?
glad to see the GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME TO BE RAN AT GDQ

Can't believe such a masterpiece wad released in 1997
The way you guys find these glitches is amazing great work.
Everytime I watch a SOTN speedrun I'm so sad they skip the "Die monster" conversation
Should be a different category to include only that one smh, or at the VERY least a mercy timer pause
This guy's movement is bonkers. Bravo, sir.
For those who don't play this game, that bat charge (wing smash as they call it) is very hard to pull off. That only shows his skill.
Yeah, Dr4gonblitz is great. Definitely check out his twitch and/or UA-cam channel for more awesome SotN content!
11:06 I know it saved time but... that hurt to watch
Pause, open a new tab and play the Health max up sfx, that'll fix it :)
Man I loved this game, I need to replay it again sometime so much fun.
Every time they teleport back to the Long Library, I can imagine the game wheezing and coughing as it tries to display the name of the area, but can't finish the animation before they phase through the floor and leave.
"This run is technically glitchless."
>proceeds to OOB bat glitch the first castle
I've seen some other games that allow curtain glitches during their glitchles runs that said I dont know what sotn allows or doesn't so eh.
"it's not a glitch, it's a feature!"
/s.

23 years later and i found out yesterday that the wolf can swim
I learn it a few month ago
Best Castlevania game ever made. 🔥🔥🔥

Rondo of Blood
"Hi, I'm Romscout, and I rarely actually see this game."
alucard lookin like a SSBM character with all that wavedashing
You made it to GDQ bro you are a true legend!
You teach, you support, you care!
Man I really like the way you are! Keep it up ✌🏼
Love from Costa Rica
This Speedrun = Something about Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
10:25 First time I've had one of my donations read. I am pleased they deemed my terrible pun worthy.
StretchDude Yeah... worthy of being terrible. The dude said “Good try.” 😂. But seriously though, good on you for the donation.
Happy I could be of service hahaha
Your 25 dollars came up at the same time alucard picks up 25 dollars
10:26 Oh hey, $25. xD
Such a spot. Bravo.
One of those bosses is called grandfalloon and I think that's funny because I read the cat's cradle.
good book
I never knew Rising of the Shield Hero was based off of Alucard!
It's like Alucard is playing his own interpretation of Super Mario 64, jumping backwards through castles like he did in the run.
Those divekicks into bat are so satisfying.
Me throughout the run "wait that was a boss??"
they're a bit tougher without the shield magic trick that melts them
That was damn impressive
I missed this so much
actually the game looks pretty sweet for being this old.
I remember destroying my finger on the d-pad back in the day doing wing smash
love the run
Muito foodaaa!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 O cara joga muito.
an amazing and beautiful game
What did Alucard say when he heard that a ghost had claimed the throne? "Casper reigning? Nah!"
REALLY impressive, ESPECIALLY considering he's doing all those HCF and QCF motions on that God awful XBox 360 pad. lol
He could be using a transforming d-pad controller. I have one and the d-pad is pretty great.
Imagine using a dpad when all the spells can be done in one motion with analog
I am beyond pissed they cut out "die monster" in the Android version
They didn't, they just changed the voice actors
Love this game !
It's inspiring to see DB play this slow compared to now.
Great speed run!
that's amazing
What a puntastic event
Man Alucard doing the moonwalk
I hope this comes on PC someday
all retro games are already on pc dude. Just download emulators and enjoy.
My goodness hes like a TAS bot with those commands
Fucking hell!Is this guy a God of this game?
11:38 best gear? Crissaegrim?????
What the hell did I just experience
French Vampire Fisherman. Cast Le Vein Here!
I thought if you just enter and leave the room Death was in really quick he wouldn't take your stuff? Worked for me on PSP
Works on PS4 as well but not in this version, nor the original. Don't know the specifics of it though :\/
Is there any video teaching all these glitchs? Just wow, i wanna fly forever like his bat
thats not a glitch thats just the tech in the game, its a quarter circle combo and you just keep on doing that over and over
www.speedrun.com/sotn/guides we have a discord you can join on the page as well if you have any questions or ask me directly.

これはリアルアルカード!
Man, speedrunning this game has come a long way since the first run back in 2004 or whatever. God, that run was so terrible.
What about Castlevania Curse Of Darkness
8:45 Vampire stopping time? Somebody call Jotaro
Nani

Am I the only person that found his menu navigation as impressive as the gameplay?
4:30 I remember doing this trick while doing the bat's dash move to skip Death's cut scene. Why did he go for a frame-perfect glitch?
Because you cant get bat at the beginning?
Wait a sec... isn't Death himself supposed to take your good equipment away? xD

And I still can't figure out how to use the elevator
Question does the faire card work for the ps4 version I try didnt work
Wow 👍
This is actually a fun game and interesting one..speed running this idk not my thing..mashing the shit out of that triangle though lol
How long does it take somebody to figure all this out incredible especially those glitches
Generations, at this point.
I see it all x____X
DB is so quiet in this when he is so talkitive on stream and in videos. He must be nervous.
How did he jump from the candle at @11:04 without the leap stone?
If you are in mid air while transformated and turn back into Alucard, you can do a dive kick even without the leap stone.
Does the Grim Reaper steal all his weapons and powers or not? Cuz he still oneshots everything
No he skips death so he gets to keep his items.
Moon walk only run
I might have missed it, but did he get the Sword Card? Or the Nose Demon?
I wouldnt call it glitchless cuz of that death steal skip but whatever. Catagories are wierd
Nobody does call ti glitchless...
what exactly is he trying to do at 4:27, which failed at it first try??
He skips the scene where Death removes all your items, so he can keep the starting gear, which you normally cant get until 2nd castle
ITS ALL HAPPENING TOO FAST, I DONT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING
Wich Version of SOTN is the best to play in General? I have all of them including the new Version on PS4. An answer would be appreciated
i think they're generally the same, i played the PS1 one on my psp and it was swell
I think all are the same except for the Saturn version, which contains the Underground Garden area, but it's really short and useless.
can anyone do this on mobile version? 😅
how’s he doing 50 damage
what he doing to keep alucard sword didnt take by sith at beggining??
Dragonblitz stood in a specific place, used a Neutron Bomb to level up and it allowed him to skip the Death Cutscene.
