I am currently rebuilding a 602 (oil rings) for a street car, is there anything you would suggest changing? I have been told that the rings are set up for race fuel, what would you suggest?
Im fixing to buy 1 for my street stock..are these really good engines? I know they only want yku to turn 5500 Rpm...but i know i can change the valve springs and turn 6500..or even run iroc z28 valve springs and run 7000 rpm...and the engine would be fine..does anybody else may know any tricks with these engine's i can do to help me..im running a dirt track 3/8 mile D SHAPE track...its my first 602..a yone who knows anything would greatly appreciate the advice..
if its made to spin 5500 rpm then that's what it runs ..are you a gm engineer ? or even a engine builder ? if you replace the springs yes you can spin higher but is the camshaft going to make power above 5500 rpm ? if not why bother and will the rods support higher HP and rpm if you swap cam and springs ? if your running circle track you change the rear end gears to get the engine into the sweet spot .. and lets not forget one thing about circle track ? if someone claims you are cheating they can buy your motor and tear it apart .. if ya cheating you lose everything but pretty sure regardless you aint getting your engine back ... so bottom line this is a cheap motor built for a specific purpose
@@griffon3275 ...thanks for any info ...yea i can build a engine fkr racing i just know some of my friends have raced against these engines and was hard to beat and were very dependable..these engines cost around 4 grand and we build about 6 grand engine and they seem to run up front with us..and these engines are sealed for the IMCA STOCK CAR CLASSES...which means you basically can not get inside the motor only can take off valve covers for springs to be changed.and yes it will pull a little more horse power changing springs also...its also a 8 qt oil pan and if you run 8 qt its a 350 hp engine at 5400 rpm..if you run only 6 qt in it you will gain 10 hp...ive heard nothing but good for these engine's so i am sold on getting 1..thanks for the reply .
@@griffon3275 ...back in the day racing engines were different than todays..you couldnt run vortec heads back then cause there wasnt vortec heads available..on a 3/8 mile track on the engines I CAN BUILD. was a 400 small block with a 350 crank and 350 6 inch rods that made a 377 cubic inch would win alot of races..you said you ran 305 heads on a flat deck 350..with 305 rods..all that is , is a d stroke motor..and the heads will make it run hot or pretty warm on a long feature and then you lose horse power the longer it runs..any temp over 200 you lose 10 -20 hp...mine stayed around 190 never lost horse power in long features...my engine's i can build run about 5 grand and have to refresh them at about 16 races...these crate 602 you can go all season with no refresh and just change valve springs every 8 races...and with a willys carburetor on it you cant out run these engines....
Both 305 and 350 rods are identical part numbers, they are both 5.7in. rods. Rod length does not change the stroke or cubic inch. The stroke is determined by crankshaft. Bore x stroke x number of cylinders squared is how to calculate engine displacement.
Ya nobody taking my engine I bought & paid for even if i’am cheating, what in the flying fuck thinks they have the right to keep my engine? This isn’t Nascar Cup here lol. If they don’t want to give it back then I’ll be back with my friendly neighborhood 1%er MC lol 😂
Thank you so much!!!!! Something to consider for the future!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!!
I'm fixing to oder one
