    Wonderful presentation! Reminds me of me in the 1960s hunting, trapping, turtling, ricing, making money having fun. Now I have mining claims on Gold Rush and take my Army Aviation Veteran retired buddies out to Colorado and get some gold! It's giving back that counts!

    Howdy Jim, great insights into your workshop.
    I think the idea of the perforated sheet metal above the Sluice Box is great.
    You should always have the courage to try something new.

    Great idea
    .I made one similar to that. The problem was when in use is the water flow is under the punch plate. Nothing on top to wash the rocks. If you out it deeper in the water you have to much water flow. I'd like to see a video of that in use.

    • @enjoyingnorthwoods4041
      @enjoyingnorthwoods4041  2 роки тому +1

      The flow is definitely a factor. I have been using this for a while and do love it. I lost my classifier for this sluice and can’t find till the snow melts so I made another This one I used a little bigger holes Last ones were 3/16 This one used 1/4” and 3/8 on center haven’t tried it yet but think it will be even better Here’s a video I made last year with the first test of them on this sluice and a 6” sluice I made

      I’ll test this one next time I hit my new spot think conditions will be right✌🏻
      Video called new chunky gold deposit
      Also legs on the sluice helps with that problem The key is to get it where it just moves the gravel off Some times have to tap grate to get it to wash been trying to make a water powered shaker for grate have couple prototypes but no cigar yet✌🏻

    When you're running your black beach sand on your sluice at home, how long do you let it run after your last scoop? I've just got a little 2 foot gutter sluice running a vortex (conveyer belt stuff).

    • @enjoyingnorthwoods4041
      @enjoyingnorthwoods4041  2 роки тому +1

      I don’t run it that long after I’m done with last scoop I watch for some of the bulk black sand to clear out and pan the rest. I’m always afraid of loosing some gold and the gold in beach sand is usually finer so that’s why I don’t wait that long. It leaves you with more black sand to go through but I find it worth it. The beach sand at the end sucks to pan because it’s so heavy and fine but take your time and I don’t pan more than a teaspoon at a time to make it a little easier. Hope that helps

      @enjoyingnorthwoods4041  2 роки тому +1

      @@johncollins8888 ya you would think that for sure. I don’t have a lot of experience with beach sand. There’s know rules for how the glacier ground and displaced everything. Pickers could be any where. That’s what keeps us looking. Lol I’m still looking for my nugget here. I have found some weird pieces so I don’t rule out anything.
