Hi Aman, Pleased to let you know I just passed my driving test🎉 Wanted to say thank you for all your videos, they have taught be so much and they’re enjoyable to watch x
Heya Aman, Passed my driving test in 1st attempt with just 2 minors, many Thanks for the videos those helped a lot. I started my 1st lesson with a friend on Aug 9 and appeared the test on Sep 12. Just 20+ hours and lots of self learning helped me and your videos been absolutely helpful. Thanks again :)
You will get there Ishaan, but keep practising! Thank you Aman for the lovely video. As I said in the video, I am starting to recognise your routes. I love that. At 19:26 point there was a car parked very close to a divider. Is that even allowed?
This is so interesting (as someone waiting for my third go at the driving test in France) seeing how things are in other countries is fascinating. I wonder if you would ever do a mock test with instructors from other countries - for example, my mom took her test in the USA and all she had to do was drive around a yard/parking lot a few times! And she was never taught to check her blind spots. Meanwhile in France you have to check your blind spot every time you exit a roundabout to make sure no one overtakes you at that moment, and blind spots at every merge or turn, you have to look directly through the rear window constantly while in reverse with only very brief checks at your mirrors, and you have to yield for everyone arriving from the right unless they have a clear stop or yield sign (which includes slowing down every time a road arrives from the right, even if you're on a "main road" until you can see to the end of that road that you're supposed to yield to. Even if it's hidden by houses, or a parked moving truck that you're overtaking. Even if it turns out that there wasn't even anyone there to yield to! Priorité à droite are the bane of my existence. I'm also curious, do you in the UK have to hover your foot over the break and maybe even decelerate a bit every time you approach a green light that's been green for a while? But at least we don't have emergency stops, just precision stops. And your roundabouts look so much more confusing!) Anyways I'm so so curious about how that would translate!
We hover our foot over the brake when approaching a green light that has been green for a while, because we are anticipating that it is about to go amber (and then red). It is illegal to run an amber light unless it would be unsafe to stop for it (i.e. braking very harshly) - so we need to be ready for the light to change. When we get very close to the lights, to the point where it would be unsafe to stop for them, we "ignore the lights" and continue. People still regularly run amber lights (we call them amber gamblers), and even red lights at busy times, which is very dangerous.
Hi Aman, can you share with us some of the tips when changing from gear 4 > 3> 2 for turning left/right? Ive bad planning and end up always rushing to change gear, check Blindspot last minute
slow down, clutch in and just go straight to second at about 10-15mph as you turn into the road but remember to come off the clutch so you're not coasting.
Don't worry about the blindspot. If turning left you should be checking both your center and left mirror so as long as no one has sneaked up the inside like a motorbike or cyclist and provided you have indicated they shouldn't have, but as long as you can see them don't worry about them and if you can't a simple glance out of the side windows is sufficient. For gears you can go 4 to 2 . Do not look at the speedo listen more and learn to judge the speed on feel . Paying attention to what's happening outside is far more important than looking at the speedo. You are probably not looking far enough ahead and leaving it all to the last moment. Where if you said to yourself that's going to be like that I'm going to do thatl at that point etc. You won't get sp overwhelmed
Parallel park over steered. Once you have 30 to 45 straighten the wheel once the front of the car can turn in without hitting the car then opposite lock and straighten. Its basically 1 turn then 2 turn opposite lock. Its easier to think of shapes and points than number of turns on the wheel that only works if you have had top of wheel and make 1 full turn then 2 in the opposite direction. When you feed the steering you have no idea on if you're done a full turn or not
But what about using the 1, 2, 1 technique? How I do it is, I park beside the oncoming car and then slowly reverse until I meet the reference of my side mirror lining up with the back tyre and then I do the first (1) turn until I’m at 45 degrees. But now I do not go to the second turn yet (2), instead I start reversing back whilst the steering is straightened until I can no longer see the curb and then I do the 2 and then the final 1 to finish. Is that not fine?
@marco7838 yeah that's fine. Thier is various ways to do and a lot depends on the size of space. If a tight space leave a bigger parallel gap with the reference car and you will need to turn in sooner then once at the point you can't go back more drive forward and swing the nose in. It's all being flexible with how you do it and adjust to each situation
Gosh. If I had to do my driving lessons again, I'd choose you as instructor. Well, if I lived in London and were british.. I love how calm you are and laugh off any mistakes. (maybe not during this special "Mock Test"). And still, you seem to be very focused on the road and instructions. Quite the opposite from what my instructor did. You, on the other side, have a pretty charismatic attitude. I like that very much and I am watching your videos just for entertainment - as in how you behave in your job ;) Sorry, for my bad english. Keep your smile, Greetings from Germany
I've been driving for 20ish years and I'm sure you've made me a better driver, I also watch your video and go out thinking I can do all that, no problem but it never works thay way! Lol
Are we sure he is comfortable with the leg placement…. I think he can shift his foot more towards the right and then drive more comfortably…. Is it not Aman?
That's the problem with relying on a reverse camera. As a learner you focus so hard on where the guide lines are going you forget about the angle and length of the vehicle because your so focused on getting those lines in the right place. I think your better off learning without a reverse camera, get it perfect, then use it as a tool to improve your awareness and parking.
12:08 uh oh got me so bad XD Also 18:50 was dual control used? At least he’s aware what he failed on, and if you guys went to correct those I’m sure he will pass 😊 Thanks Aman ❤
I hold the licence for 13 years and I watching.. my daughter saw me and she went, is there a reason ya watching and I was like yes, no matter how long I been driving, there's always something new to learn, and on this clip parallel parking fail, because he saw friend catching on phone camera.
Ishaan's, smooth driving. Ishaan's need to work on, lane discipline and awareness. He should be alright, once he had addresses those issues. good luck.
Thing is generally people always hope for a particular maneuver, generally not the reverse parallel park. If your fully test ready it shouldn't matter which maneuver, you should be confident at all of them equally. Your going for a licence that allows you to drive on your own at the end of the day, you may need to do any of them within hours of passing on your own. If one worried you, thats what you need to practice, this applies after your test as much as before. Also dont keep looking at tou examiner to try and gauge how you are doing, it takes your attention away from the road and your more likely to make an error.
It is funny how almost everyone looks at the instructor after this heavy brake test hahaha... In Ireland doesn't have this test but I'm sure I would look at the instructor as well
Hi Iman . I love your videos so much and I find them very resourceful. I have my test coming very soon and I would love if your available next week to conduct a mock test with me as I’m very nervous for my test. Great Video 😅 ❤
Why do you use your own personal car for these mock test for learners and not a separate car you don’t have to worry to much in case anything happens? For me I love my car to much to have other people use it for tests.
After passing my test , I still enjoy watching these videos .
Got mine on Thursday I'm excited to be apart of that same group
I passed my test 47 years ago and still enjoy watching these videos
Same. I enjoy judging people for making all the exact same mistakes I made countless times.
