I have a retriever with a fine undercoat - I cannot imagine how long it would take for huskies to thoroughly dry if my dog takes hours even after towelling her several times!
Yes. It is very important to dry the coat after swimming. Swimming is not good method to use for cooling down the malamute in hot summer days. Usually malamutes don't like to swim :) But ... most of our dogs have short coat, which dries much faster like long one. When they swim, we ensure they are running, walking and are active till coat is dry. Some have already lost the winter coat. We have just 2 dogs who like to swim and Lilo in this video is one of them :)
