This is true for pc but I honestly think casting characters will always be balanced on controller because you can’t do the finer stuff willow would be the best for console IMO but maxwell is definitely busted on pc especially with the no downside night armour removing the health penalty
A point he makes often in the video is that its hilarious easy to negate his main downside and for a large portion of players it doesn’t take more than a couple of days to combat it, night armor, a beefalo, hell even an alchemy Engine and a football helmet and you Can be set for a while
Interestingly enough , i'd say that this is the only unbalanced maxwell itteration in dont starve history. His pre-rework state sucked for combat. Which makes total sence. In most situations he was just willson with 75 health. I remember respecting any and every maxwell who would do mostly combat. Duelists , debqtably , lacked any use. Sometimes they were fina , but not always. And in solo i see him as somewhat of a snowball character, but with a crutch. His insane sanity regeneration at the start of the world playing against you , because , as maxwell , you want as much nightmare fuel as possible. And his night armor and sword are less of a sweet litle bonus , as they are an esential part of his kit. He can maintain insanity only throu their use , and throu eating anti-sanity food, which , playing as maxwell , i discovered to be a way smaller group than it seemed as any other character. Basicaly just green mushrooms , and cooked moster meat if you got healing. His need for nightmare fuel , and insane sanity regen flips the game on its head. Now if you are not smart with your starting kit , you may find yourself in a situation , where getting more nightmare fuel is a painfull chore , and you ll have to wither painfully grind to get your initial sanity-lowering suply , or will have to visit ruinst just to run around from nightmares. But if you are smart , and manage to rush magic , and use nighmare fuel for a nighmare light , you just increased your farrming rate. And then you shall spare your sword and armor until you are sure that you could make another one ,because they are your best friends in fuel farming. Its actually quite fun to rise to power , and then to use shadow armor and a football helmet to become a tank in your shadow party , and to start feeling confident with minions , and being able to spare some nightmare fuel and health. Also health cost really adds up to the ealygame cost of minions. You can just basicly kill yourself if you aint carefull, redusing your overall low health even lower. Solo maxwell really flips the game on its head , and is hold back not only be a downside (mattering way more , because he needs to participate in fights , or feed his own health to monsters.), but also cost of one of his upsides(15 health per cast and n.f.) , and shier unforgiving power of the other.(harder to collect early game n.f.) Overall , he is a bit stronger than a character should be , but he is literaly the big great reward chqracter. He emight be a puppet master , but he still needs to get his hands dirty. Free nightmare fuel generation , cheap casts, and easy ways to get insane , might just be the biggest problems of moddern maxwell. Well aside from the whole "where we but a round block? Correct , in the square hole" aproach to the most bossdights, and generaly to most treats. If its not a boss , he would just cast shadow sneak instead of prison , because this one is op too... WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE GOT A STRONGER VERSION OF IT FOR WILLOW!?
There is nothing wrong with having maxwell at very high percs since he is originally unlocked upon beating adventure mode and that was part of the reward so later on attempting to adjust him to balance and fit with dst is a great job regardless being the case or not since again he was originally an awesome end game character reward
Maxwell's only real problem right now is that while he's very powerful against pre-rift bosses and enemies, he's extremely weak against planar enemies and bosses to the point of being almost completely ineffective against them, which is made even worse by the fact that he doesn't benefit anything or made stronger whatsoever by any of the celestial champion/lunar rifts gear. Hopefully, his skill tree will address this soon.
@eberferatu2324 Sure, but the large amount of health planar bosses possess combined with planar entity protection and the fact that almost all planar enemies have devastating area of effect attacks results in your duelists dealing significantly less damage AND dying extremely quickly, causing fights against planar bosses to become highly time consuming and repetitive, which in turn makes them tedious and annoying. That's not exactly a fun gameplay experience. Planar entity protection literally cuts the damage of your duelists down by almost 50%.
1. each piece of void gear gives him tier 3 buffs for his duelists, so you can have 56 damage duelists while still holding a weapon that can do up to 88 damage per hit when ramped up, while also ignoring its sanity drains per usual maxwell style as for the defensive side of things, void gear maxwell can still survive two full rasp chomps or slap combos 2. nah, even when thrown against planar enemies the duelists + cage are super bullshit powerful and extremely cheap regardless

I’d rather not for a few reasons but if enough people want it then I’ll consider it
Do what you prefer bro
Carter has one of the best reworks ever, hope Klei never nerfs him bc he is awesome for destroying Raid Bosses in Solo
Klei almost never does nerfs but I’d be happy to see his max health reduced to something actually threatening
He still needs to be somewhat playable for casuals though
Nice vid but id favor a full none clipped none edited and none commentary if possible.
It’s linked in the description
ok watching this vdeio made me realise maxwell looks alot like my uncle
maxwell gaming
Why my beefalo can't go to cave with me?
Use a beefalo bell to your beefalo
aight pack it up maxwell we know its you who made this video 😭😭🙏🙏
Hi, I’m Maxwell
Oh my god it's Maxwell
Oh no, an advanced character performs well when you play him well! I guess thats why all the speedruns are done on Maxwell instead of Wolfgang.
Maxwell really isn’t hard to play. Get a beefalo and you’ve almost entirely removed the downside
Solo maxwell really flips the game on its head , and is hold back not only be a downside (mattering way more , because he needs to participate in fights , or feed his own health to monsters.), but also cost of one of his upsides(15 health per cast and n.f.) , and shier unforgiving power of the other.(harder to collect early game n.f.)
Overall , he is a bit stronger than a character should be , but he is literaly the big great reward chqracter.
0/10 no Bearger kill.

I so think I made some very avoidable mistakes (mostly in the form of bad routing which I didn’t show) so I might try this again some day

Lookmaxwell
balanced i think
There is nothing wrong with having maxwell at very high percs since he is originally unlocked upon beating adventure mode and that was part of the reward so later on attempting to adjust him to balance and fit with dst is a great job regardless being the case or not since again he was originally an awesome end game character reward
❤
Maxwell's only real problem right now is that while he's very powerful against pre-rift bosses and enemies, he's extremely weak against planar enemies and bosses to the point of being almost completely ineffective against them, which is made even worse by the fact that he doesn't benefit anything or made stronger whatsoever by any of the celestial champion/lunar rifts gear. Hopefully, his skill tree will address this soon.
You can still feasibly throw some nightmare fuel at a boss to kill it
@eberferatu2324 Sure, but the large amount of health planar bosses possess combined with planar entity protection and the fact that almost all planar enemies have devastating area of effect attacks results in your duelists dealing significantly less damage AND dying extremely quickly, causing fights against planar bosses to become highly time consuming and repetitive, which in turn makes them tedious and annoying. That's not exactly a fun gameplay experience. Planar entity protection literally cuts the damage of your duelists down by almost 50%.
1. each piece of void gear gives him tier 3 buffs for his duelists, so you can have 56 damage duelists while still holding a weapon that can do up to 88 damage per hit when ramped up, while also ignoring its sanity drains per usual maxwell style
as for the defensive side of things, void gear maxwell can still survive two full rasp chomps or slap combos
2. nah, even when thrown against planar enemies the duelists + cage are super bullshit powerful and extremely cheap regardless
Something off about the voice
