Beading will occur initially but as more water lands on the soft top, it will eventually become wet depending on the age of the soft top and it's weave. The main benefit of protector is to provide easier cleaning in the future and to combat algae and lichen build up.
@AutoglymUK thank you for clarifying that. I've noticed that it seems to bead in reverse so when it's drying. As long as it offers the protection I'm happy. I wrongly assumed that the beading meant it was offering the protection but you have confirmed otherwise.
I used a kit last week followed all the instructions and now looking at my car outside in the pouring rain and wondering why the water is not beading?
