It's no wonder because she's the granddaughter of our former president Manuel Roxas, a known political and business clan in the Phils. She's a member of the Filipino elite, thus her regal looks, ways and appeal. She had also been modeling part time but her family did not know when she joined Ms. Phils. because they surely would not approve. She also won Ms. Photogenic, &she's one of only four Ms.U winners who also won Ms. Photogenic. After her reign, she finished Business Administration at Boston University. Back then there were no beauty training camps yet, and you'd notice how bland their introductions were, so it's either you got it or you don't.

The fact that Miss Israel dismissed the interpreter just as the latter was about to do the job that she was summoned to the stage for, it was obvious that the Israeli queen spoke English - however pretendingly limited - and did understand the question. Meaning she tried to cheat as if nobody would notice but stupidly betrayed herself by grabbing the microphone and immediately answering the question( in English!) without it being translated. Of course she had to be relegated to the 4th Runner-up placement because of it...served her right!
The 1973 Miss Universe had the most beautiful locale of all the years. Using a stage that looked like the Acropolis (?) and putting the girls in Greek costumes was magical. The whole scene was enchanting. I also thought the contestants were prettier that year. I was glad Miss Philippines won. She was stunning.
