it extends the life of your machine to deep clean it. don't forget to drain the water from the washer, same as you do the pan under your fridge. all the built up gunk constantly accumulating, and then getting wet and whirling and resettling in the machine can slow it down.

Please give a cautionary warning that you should be extremely careful using any kind of chemical cleaners, whether natural or otherwise in your dryer, especially if it is a gas dryer. The fumes remain flammable, even after the surface has dried creating a fire hazard/injury hazard.

You do not have to desinfect your dryer. Just clean the lint out really well, because of fire hazards. Otherwise,, your dryer is not dirty.

    • @Brainjoy01
      @Brainjoy01 3 місяці тому

You definitely do, the inside of the dryer can build up lint, that mixes with the wet clothes, especially if the washer isnt rinsing hard enough. So your clothes come out with brown stains, of lint and dirt that dried and hardened on, then gets wet and moldy over and over again. Disinfect the dryer. This is why using public dryers and dorm dryers leave you with new stains.

Just like with washing dishes. Are you using a disinfectant? The majority of people use hot water and soap. The removal of germs with just soap and water is enough to lower the number of germs and risk of spreading infections.

It could be she has a European dryer. They are ventless. So you only need to clean the dryer lint traps in the dryer. There is no pipe that goes through the house to the outside of the house. It is called a condensation dryer. It cools the air and all the water collects in a compartment you can take out to empty, or you can directly connect it to a water outlet. And it than just blows dry slightly warm air into the home.

I used to work at a laudromat while I was in college. One of my duties was scrubbing the lint screens on all the machines every week. The boss showed me why. He walked to random dryer, pulled out the lint screen and after removing the lint ran water in it. The screen filled with water. If water can't get thru it then air can't either. He explained it's caused by fabric softener coating the screen. It wasn't visable. He also showed me the backs of the dryers and the guts looked like they had a coat of shellac pasting lint to the guts of the dryer. There were also dozens of "lost" dryer sheets in the back of each machine (I had to clean those out too). He said that fabric softener is the worst thing to use in either the washer or dryer and not only are they are completely unnecessary, it causes additional wear/tear on the machines, and reduces their life expectancy, causing additional expense when the machines need to be replaced sooner (cost passed onto the customer). He said the reason people feel the need to use softener is because they use too much detergent and the washer can't rinse all the soap out, which makes the fabric crunchy. He said it would be more efficient and less costly to use vinegar in the rinse cycle. Vinegar is an acid and soap is a base so the vinegar neutralizes the soap. Vinegar also is a descaler, so it cuts hard water too. I stopped using fabric softener and have used vinegar for nearly 40 years.

Don’t use Dawn dish soap unless you rinse it like 10 times. It will make the lint trap “sticky”. Not sticky in the sense that you would notice, but it will hold more lint the same way that fabric softener does in the washer. It’s the same principle that you don’t want to put detergents in your carrier because it will ultimately attract more dirt.

Please just read your manual. You can easily also find online.
    From a random Maytag manual:
    1. Use nonflammable cleaner or a mild hand dish detergent
mixed at a low concentration with very warm water, and rub
    with a soft cloth.
Rinse well with a wet sponge or towel.
Tumble a load of clean clothes or towels to dry drum.
    OR
    2. Use a microfiber cloth and very warm water in a spray bottle to
clean the drum and a second microfiber towel to dry.

I love Dawn, it cleans everything. But that takes a lot of time to do everytime you use the dryer. And that was not from one load.

With a dryer that lint filled you need to yank it out and clean the vent in the back too. and if you have the know how open up the case and suck out the lint inside as well.

Don't forget to clean your dryer vent! Over time lint that isn't caught by the lint trap can build up and cause a significant fire hazard and reduce the efficiency of your dryer. Clean them about once per year.

Airflow is the best thing you can do to maintain a dryer. The dryer lint trap should be emptied every time the dryer is used. Even part way through a drying cycle if it something new like towels.

    HOW PREEEEEETY

Funny story. My OCD is the reason I learned how to unscrew the plastic lint thing to clean better. It was late at night. My parents were asleep. I needed to dry laundry, but OCD said "what if there's a fire while you sleep?" So, I cleaned the lint screen but noticed a TON of lint down in the basket. I tried several times to scoop it out, but I couldn't get it. So that's how I ended up with a screwdriver in the middle of the night hoping I wasn't going to ruin the dryer.

We can't get scentiva here anymore. So sad because I love it. You can also do a wash cycle with some if it in there and it helps keep your washer cleaner longer.
