I'm so excited to see a new video. You are the only Zettlekasten UA-camr who has such an intimate knowledge of the source - the analogue slipbox. I have been using Obsidian for years but never really understood what a Zettlekasten was or how it was supposed to work before I discovered your channel. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Tony, great stuff. I’ve tried registering for the free vault a few times today and haven’t received the email (I’ve checked in spam etc)
Would it be possible to check the automation as I tried registering a few times over the past 5hrs and haven’t received anything.

So where can I find the original source of Prof. Luhmann that shown on your video?

I forced myself to stay away from 'systems' and 'frameworks' and forced myself to write a "mission" note that stated my objective. Within this note, I set out why I needed to make notes and also devised a structure and method that worked specifically for my mission. Sometimes, in our eagerness to follow a system, we lose sight of the problem that the system is trying to fix, and lose our ability to appreciate that the system's problem might not be our problem.

I have folders but no subfolders. I think that's a sweet spot

Thank you! That's it, I feel that complicated folder structure and following the rules of "ideal" graph get me slower, and here is the right explanation.

folders (hierarchy) make an assumption about how things are grouped/filtered. Tags remove the assumption that b1, b2, b3 always sit under A. Use Tags for grouping maybe folders for types or simple persistent collections

    Thanks for this great video
Simplicity beats the most sophisticated and modern tool’s every time in my opinion
The question I’m asking myself is do I want to learn the concept or do I want learn how to use a tool?
I thought a lot about if the Zettelkasten technique can be used in exam scenarios like college or university exams
Maybe there have to be some adaptations here and there

No hay que enamorarse de la herramienta; obsidian hay que ponerle lo menos posibles ..y no distrarrse ..ni estar buscando nuevas funciones q mágicamente van a solucionag los problemas

I use no tags, a folder for pictures, over 1300 files, just links and a home page. That’s it. Works wonderfully.

Im new to your channel and you have a couple of real good high value quality videos. This video however is basically just an ad for your course. Atleast, inform the viewer prior to clicking the video that its content is an ad, instead of camuflaging it among other videos, some which actually provide value.

Hey friend, thanks for the comment. This video is not an ad for my course nor was I attempting to camouflage it as one. The mention of my course is just an added call to action which is why I left it at the end where viewership usually drops off. In most of my videos I offer similar calls to action for my free offerings which also are not ads. Thanks for watching anyway and I hope you can still get value out of the 95% of my content that is not promotional.

@TonyRamella I really do, thanks. Have watched and liked all I have seen so far with a thumbs up. Alot of you videos are thought-provoking and an original way to look at note taking. Keep it up. I am going to subscribe to you, both to support but also because I feel that you think outside the box and provide some practical suggestions that will help all sorts of people from students to writers to academics and researchers, in which the latter category I fall into. You are so right about the fact that forced engagement with material to produce concise notes is a very powerful thing. Both for recall and understanding then later for connecting the dots to a bigger plot.
