The Davies Bros. and band......."L-O-L-A Lola......... la la la Lola !"........hey, it was the 60's ! everybody made a mistake......luv the ending double entendre......
Stumbled across your channel the other day. I really like that you listen to whole thing & not constantly pause like most reaction channels. Am enjoying your UK selection. Great hearing Demon Days in full! I’d recommend Kasabian, Royal Blood, and Placebo
Saw The Kinks in 1980 then West Germany (Frankfurt) for their *One for the Road* tour. Hate to say it. But the opening band *Nine Below Zero,* an *English Blues Band* (touring for their debut live album * from The Marquee* - a very excellent album of old r&b soul / country tunes - it's on UA-cam) was much, much better than The Kinks that night. During the Kinks show. I ate a piece of hash. I felt myself floating. I knew my feet was touching the ground. And my arse was in my seat. But that a different high I experienced that night.
You guys did an excellent review of their classic album Arthur a while back. In the case of the Kinks, more is definitely better. Sir Raymond and his brother Dave are still with us but several members of the band have sadly moved on.
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerek I can agree with you there. You are more accurate than I am. I saw them three different times. Did you ever get the chance?
@@DerekDerekDerekDerekDerekDerek Bummer. The last time I saw them was around close to 40 years ago. What other old stuff have you been turned onto? Here is an album I suggest all females in their 20's listen to. Carol King "Tapestry". Are you familiar with the Talking Heads? Peter Gabriel? You were asked to read the lyrics as you listened and so you completely missed the twist/punchline. If the person requesting it specifically asks you to look at the lyrics, you should do that.
I'm 56 and have heard this song all my life. It wasn't until i was about 52 that I actually listened to the lyrics and got it.
This is one of those bands where you know way more of their songs than you think. I’m constantly thinking, “this is by the Kinks!?”
I grew up listening to The Kinks in the 60s and 70s. Their best track, I think, is Waterloo Sunset which always makes me cry, for some reason.
Waterloo Sunset is truly a beautiful song.
Lola Vs. Powerman and the Moneygoround Part 1 is a really strong album, a lot of it about the music industry.
Their 1981 album Give the People What They Want is all that punky rock sound or watch their concert at Rockplast 1982 which is awesome.
Saw them tour for Give the People. Saw them three different times.
I am so glad I got to see them live. I saw them for the Low Budget concert.
If you pay attention to the lyrics of this song it's freaking hilarious. Its like if a comedian put part of his act to music.
that whole concert is awesome

You guys should check out their RRHOF PERFORMANCE. They blew the doors off.
I loved their LP Something Else particularly the track Death Of A Clown ! ! Their sixties work was the best ! 🤡

They invented heavy metal.
No, they definitely didn't. They invented hard rock.

They were from the eighties.
How come you guys don't seem to remember you listened to the whole Arthur album. You talked about them being the missing piece in the punk story.
