- This video is a tribute to all of the R42 trains that ran on the M line in the New York City Subway
They were replaced by R160A sets as of 2008. There are no more R42s on the M line. RIP.

A better title would be "final goodbye to the Nassau line M or brown colored M" because the M is still a train that operates today

There are only 50 R42s left in service which are all based out of ENY. They only run on the J/Z.
The (Z) Train Is Staying & The (J) Train Needs The (Z) Train During Weekdays Rush Hours Especially With Alot Of People.

V Train Is Not Running Anymore.

I Want The MTA To Bring Back The R42's Back On The (M) Train Line. Before The R42's Retires.
They just started running R42s on the M like 2 days ago as a shuttle from Myrtle Ave to Metropolitan Ave!!!
I felt the same way with the N line, when they started replacing the 40s and the other cars with the new cars.
But now looking back on it, I cant stand the 160s, I want the old cars back.

the "M" your thinking is probably the old MTA logo where it was an M, half of it being navy blue and the other half being a light blue.

D: I was gonna take the M train for the first time tomorrow!!! I love the new style of the r160s, but seeing how they eliminated the r42 style, now I won't get that nostalgic feel. The only r42 train similar to it that I've ever taken was the r42 J. This really sucks. Oh well. I guess, at the same time, I'll experience another new thing. I've never seen the J/M/Z train in the r160 style before so I'll enjoy it in addition to me finally riding the M train. I wish the r42 M was still around. :S

I used too ride the R42s on the brown (M) with my dad when i was little.
i like the r42s when they had there stripes. they like like old trains,and they are, since these models are from1969-1970.Iknow 100% that the r42 are going to retire in 2010,along with the remaining r32s

What are you guys talking about ? I remember when the Old BMT Standards The Myrtle Avenue Exp) and The Old BMT Q Trains ( The modified Third Avenue El Trains) ran on the "BMT Myrtle Avenue Line". That was the "Mytrle Avenue Line" I,ve used to know. It was the real "Myrtle Avenue Line".

Yea The (M) Train Is All R160's But It's Not A Nassau Street Train Anymore It's Now A 6th Avenue Train Since Late June 2010.

Tristan Bravo We can do that if we connect the Nassau Line to the 8th Avenue Line vía Spring Street as well connect the Broadway Line to the Fulton Line at Court St. This allows for a connection between the Nassau Street Line and and uptown trunk line, while ushering in a deinterlined Queens Blvd Line and a Culver Express.
This allows for the Orange M to become the K (but still operating between the Queen Blvd Line and Metropolitan Avenue), and implement the V as a Culver Express. Both the K and V would operate at 10 trains per hour and operate via Queens Blvd Local to 179th Street. On 8th Avenue, the C would be moved to the express tracks to make room. New switches would be built to have it occur simultaneously with merging and diverging B and D trains.
The R would be taken off Queens Blvd and moved back to Astoria, while the N/W would be moved to 96th Street. In addition, the R would be moved to the Fulton Local to Euclid Avenue. The C would be express to Lefferts Blvd. The Rockaway Pk Shuttle and the 5 Rush Hour A Trains would be merged into the full time H train between Rockaway Park and Manhattan. The A and H would be at 8 trains and 7 trains and the C would be at 10 trains, which would give 25 trains per hour, which means more frequent express service. The R would also be at 15 trains per hour, which is more frequent than current service levels.
To replace R service, a Brown M service would operate between Essex Street and 95th Street. New track work would be done to have the J and K trains be on the outer tracks and the M on the inner tracks. Service would have to operate at 10 trains per hour, but service would become more reliable. To accommodate concerns that the Brown M would not serve West End, D service would be increased.
Remember The Old BMT Standards, "The Old Myrtle Avenue Express", by-passing "Hewes Street", "Lorimer Street", and "Flushing Avenue" on the "Broadway Jamaica Elevated Line" in Brooklyn, N.Y. "The Jamaica Express" by-passed those "Elevated Subway Train Stations" with the BMT Standards ( Myrtle Ave Exp) on "The Broadway El" in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Basically what the MTA did was look at two services, take the best of both of them and combined them into a route that is much better and more appealing than the old routes. Now all they would need to do is extend the J line to 95th Street in Bay Ridge and everyone is happy.
There's No More R62A's On The (7) Line. The R62A's Is Now Back On The (6) Line. (7) Train Now Have 100% R142A/R188. But The (4) & (6) Train Still Got 3% R142A's.
There's Still About 1-2 Sets Of R62A's On The (7) Line But Weekdays Rush Hours Only.
