DON'T FORGET TO SEAL THE LIGHTS!... These lights are notorious for leaking water into them. Then you get condensation on the inside of the light that eventually stains the plastic on the inside. Even the OEM from the dealer lights do this. Especially if the light set has been sitting in a warehouse for a few years drying out. Sealing is easily done by running a bead of silicone along the edge of the clear plastic. Plenty of UA-cams showing how to do it. Great Vedio... THANKS

Thank you Tony, your a great guy for sharing. I just replaced both sides on my 2008 Rav4. Your video saved frustration finding bolts. Removing the fender bolts also makes a huge difference. I removed both and it gave me a lot of play to get the old assembly out and the new in. FYI the shop would have charged around $100 for something you can do yourself. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thanks Tony. Your procedure worked on my 2007 RAV4 Sport. The Sport uses a slightly different (sportier?) part # than the Base and Limited models but your video helped me immensely to get it done.

I don't think i would have found all the bolts without this video, thank you ! P.S. The bolt attaching the housing to my fender was not a 10 mm, it was smaller, I am not sure what size, I had to use a vise grip to get it off.

Thank you very much for the detailed video with perfect instructions that helped me great deal in changing out the driver side headlight assembly on my 2006 RAV4 V6 Limited. I had the passenger side headlight replaced by the Toyota dealer over three years ago (still in good shape) and I am happy that I have two matching headlights now without the frosty and worn out look on one side.

I was replacing the headlight bulbs (to LED) on my wife’s 2004 RAV4 and the little metal piece that holds the bulb clip & that round light guard/diffuser broke...ugggh
So I guess I get to learn how to do this! Your video is going to make it a lot easier though.

Thanks - very helpful! It was difficult getting the new assembly in, and I'm glad I covered the lens with tape so that it didn't get scratched.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND- I took the second front quarter panel bolt out (13.5 inches away from the first bolt) closer to the windshield and it made the quarter panel flex out more making the job way easier. I also taped up the front of the new headlight sides with wide masking tape to protect it from scratches during the install.

You're lucky to have purchased the V6 model. Us 4 cylinder owners got the crap engines...the 2AZ-FE. Had no idea til after purchase. Note: always smart to seal your new assembly with a silicone bead at the joint of the glass and plastic.
** I just spent a few hours replacing one assembly...doing the other tomorrow. I've being doing simple to difficult car repairs for years, and this was an MF'er. VERY TIGHT FIT. Yes, the fender must be loosened considerably to get clearance for the edge of the assembly to get past it...because the other side under the front cosmetic plastic has to clear a part of the support frame. A real bugger!!!

There has to be an easier way to do this. It's weird Toyota would make it this hard. On my Focus it's two screws, that's it. This is just complicated for no good reason.

Having issues removing the front turn signal bulb, I am assuming you had to transfer the bulb over to the replacement headlight assembly..How is it done... Tried turning it counterclockwise, but won't give... Any info? Thank you

Great video, but only issue is there are several different types of "10mm bolts" and have to put back in the same location they came out of. I found this out the hard way.

Tony skips the part about removing the bottom cover which consists of 8 10mm bolts. Do not force the side valence without removing this piece. In fact just watch the video by TRQ instead of this one!

Wish I had seen your accurate comment before I messed around with the headlights. Entire front bumper needs to be removed. In addition to the screws he mentioned, on the 2004 there is a plastic hinge underneath that holds the headlight in and can only be accessed with the bumper out of the way. Also be ready for plastic clips and retainers to break due to brittle plastics. Fortunately they can still be purchased online :)

I want to update light bulb of my Rav4 2005 model, but I do not know if I should order LED with CANBUS or Led without CANBUS. I mean light bulb of the headlights.
Thx if there is Rav4 05 owner who could help me choose.

@@kjhnsn7296 Indead, I also read about those interference with Radio... But I do not use Radio in car that much.
      Thx for the advice.
Finally I went for Canbus one. It is installed and working fine for around 2 months in my Rav4 2005.
Only downside, when I turn on the light, there is no signal on the main dashboard above the wheel, which use to tell you, headlight are On or not. Other than that, they are working fine.
PS: I went with 8000K, because above, light become very blue...

    • @DrZipZwan
      @DrZipZwan 2 роки тому

@@kjhnsn7296 Even during day light, you may turn on headlight, and see if on dashboard it notify Light On or Off.
I guess because electro present in Canbus model are made to work and communicate with computer/ central unit, they are using nowadays in cars... other than that, they work pretty well.
PS: I choose the model with heatsink + little fan for better cooling, hope it helps, for them to last as much as possible ))
But damn they for not easy to install, due to little place between back of headlight, and the rest component of the motor.....
This video was helpful, explain well for lambda user, and stuff shown in video also...
