Great video. I just did this myself and it was pretty easy with the help of your video. Just a heads up for those who want to do this; Rather than undoing the two tire well covers and reaching in and unhooking the clips, it is much easier and quicker to slightly pry open the ends of the long, metal cover that runs across the top of the front bumper. This exposes two little slits along a plastic piece that you can stick a small and thin flathead into and unhook the two clips holding it in from the outside.
So did you undo the tire Well covers at all or did you manage to get it done without going near them?

Not to terrible of a job, my mother had a first gen Rav4 with a manual trans. That was actually a fun little car.
Thank you for the video. I am in the process of replacing headlights on my 2004 Rav4. Those plastic clips were a real PITA and started to break due to age. So I used an oscillating multi tool and slid the blade in to cut them. New Toyota pins were $20 delivered to me. Well worth it. While things are taken apart I removed hat metal piece to refinish it. It is beat up badly with rock chips everywhere. Had to take it down to bare metal. Rattle can primer, SEM base coat of white 040 color and clear coat. The new headlights look fantastic. I have been running LED bulbs for some time now and that makes a huge difference too. Again, thank you for your video.

Thanks for posting this. I have an 05 and not to many videos at all. Looks like it’s the same though. Wanted to get an idea of where all these clips and tabs are… looks like the headlights are slightly different but the mounting points are the same, that parking light socket was the same too. Nice job with the alignment

Great video, thank's for posting this! Following your video I was able to replace both my headlights which were servery yellowed/fogged on the inside. I also did what Ravanger3 did to unhook the clips which worked well.
I would like to avoid undoing the tire well covers but I am not sure what area you are prying open to unhook the clips. Are you talking about the area where Rust Belt Auto used an orange wedge? Thanks for your time.
@@cosmocress8013 I made a short video for you to explain your question. See the video link at the end of this reply. You will still need to remove some of the wheel well cover as there is a 10mm bolt you need to remove. See his video at the 3:08 time.
I just figured out a simple way to release the two clips which are hard to get too , his video at the 2:10 time.

Great video! Just one thing is unclear to me and that's where you mention there's one 'funky clip' when you go to remove the actual assembly. Can you explain more about this? I just got a set of headlights and am about to install these. After 241,000 miles I've to have to take the bumper assembly off.

Can you tell me what are the name of these small plastic clips that are holding that small plastic trim beneath the headlight? There's two of those, like two teeth. You can see them both at 2:51.
My mechanic broke one of those and now I gotta find new one.
@@achived Napa usually has a good assortment that you can match up.
Is there an easy way to get that sidelight out without taking the whole front end apart ?

Thanks for this video! I was able to replace my Rav4 2003 headlight assembly - Could you please tell me where i can buy the clipin the 2:20 - 2:50 of the video - it was so old that it just cracked when i was pushing on it. I was able to use a zip tie but still would like to find out what the clips are called so i can get new ones and attach it again.
If you go to the dealer, they will have a blueprint of the parts.

Great video, now from my understanding you have to have an adapter for LED headlights to work with the cars computer system? Or are they plug in and play like the ones you demonstrated in your video? I've got an ,05 Rav4 with non automatic headlights.
The instructions for the lights you want to buy will tell you what you need to know.
