    Many people who find Ray Peat are hypothyroid, they would need to soak the shreds in water for 15 minutes first, to draw the excess beta carotene into the water, then strain the shreds and toss the water away. White carrots have far less betacarotene.
    Having eaten the RP salad for 5 of my 7 years of Peating, I always soak the shreds and toss the soak water. then I mix 50/50 the vinegar and water to tone it down, and to add a bit of juice at the bottom of the bowl. Whenever I share this with friends who have never tried it, they not only eat the whole bowl full but they drink the half vinegar half water broth at the bottom, the salty vinegar makes it irresistible. Ive added pickled ginger gari and celerry mix I made to the RP salad and it was wonderful.
    ALso you should eat this on an empty stomach to have its medicinal effects, you want it going through by itself so that it can not only wipe the guts clean somewhat, but also to get to the lower bowels as fast as possible, to have the most antimicrobial effect where it is needed the most, and nothing else reaches. Fast motility is a cornerstone of RP WOE.

      Why do you toss the water?

    • @greyone308
      @greyone308 Рік тому +1

      @@amanininii5970 supposedly if you are hypothyroid or your thyroid is not functioning properly you cannot process vitamin a, and it will build up in the cell and become toxic. the leech water is used to Leach out excessive beta-carotene, vitamin a. It also presoftens the shreds to slide through the system easier.

      @@amanininii5970 Presumably because it contains the excess beta carotene.

      I’m a new Peat convert and am curious why the rinsing to remove beta carotene? Ray never elaborated about that. I read somewhere that beta-carotene can act like PUFA? What are your thoughts on this?

    • @greyone308
      @greyone308 3 місяці тому +2

      @@tracycavalletto1392 Ray elaborated plenty on that, as has Georgie and Danny and everyone else. The Vit A argument will never end, but its based on the concept that anyone that is hypothyroid cant properly use Vit A, and its buildup in the cell is toxic, same as iron, estrogen, lactic acid. Betacarotene is the unprocessed version of Vit A, so it takes a healthy thyroid to be able to convert it to usable. Much like iron toxicity, its hard to properly diagnose, so its just safer to toss the soak water and lessen the betacarotene going in.

      One of the tools in the Peatarian bag is making your own Magnesium oil. Its super easy to make, just go to the hardware store and buy a small tub of driveway deicer(should be 100% magnesium chloride), then mix it with water until you cant get any more to dissolve(saturation), and put it in a blue glass spray bottle if you can. Spraying Magnesium oil on your own stomach a week before your monthly will have a very strong effect of lessening the symptoms. Some women claim they dont have any cramps or pain or bloating if they do this.
      If it stings a little when you first apply it, it means your body is magnesium deficient. The stinging will go away after a few doses to that area. This mag oil will stop a muscle cramp in under 3 seconds, keep your bottle by the bed. Any area that has not been sprayed before might sting the first couple times, after that youll never feel a thing. Mag oil is a god send for many reasons, and the chloride is used by the body to help you make new hydrochloric acid for your stomach digestive fluids. I always use it after throwing up if I ate something my body doesnt like.

    I have been on this salad for 15 years.
    It’s the best with a pro-metabolic diet.
