Every point was so thought out 😊 when you said *it's more of a fashion shoe* that hit me so hard. It's exactly the phrase I've been looking for to describe pieces that look great but are mainly just for show (aka not fit for every day wear)
I do so much of the same process of elimination when shopping and it's always fun to hear your thoughts on these brands ❤ thank you!

Interesting of course. I absolutely love the floral or summer prints (not the graphic ones; more a fan of the lemons and florals) from Sezane in my colors. I tend to gravitate to colors and small prints in cool colors, combined with other classic pieces. My favourite pieces are the piers and tomboys, some of the silk pieces, and 100% merino wool pieces (Betty for example). coats and some skirts.

With some of your advice, I think it depends on the body type. For example, I'm a Kibbe Soft Natural and I like the Gaspard/Barry cardigans precisely because they have a less defined collar. I would look less good in a cardigan with a more defined cut and therefore don't own one...Thank you for this great video as you have opened my eyes to some other important things: For example, you just stopped me from ordering Sézane sandals, which I think are super pretty, but also a bit pricey for what I would get as Sézane is not specialized on shoes.😉

Sézane's shoes are mainly made in Portugal and Italy. I'm Portuguese and I can assure that all shoes are made by artisans with a know-how for centuries. In fact, Sezane shoes are better than the majority of brands that are only dedicated to shoes. Just for reference most big shoe brands in Europe also make their shoes in Portugal by the same artisans.

So informative, Helen! Many thanks. I love a lot of Sezane styles, but the prices are eye-watering, especially since there’s so much polyester involved. I tend to do what you do; narrow down the pieces you love, and then look for alternatives…with better fabrics and prices! Thanks again. Looking forward to the pieces you do like! 😘

Excellent timing! I was just browsing the Sezane site before you uploaded this. I'm not likely to buy anything anytime soon (purely for financial reasons), but this is a useful video.
It's interesting what you said about the emilio trousers. Their structure is part of what gives them such character, but at the same time, I feel that I'd refrain from saving for them for the exact same reason. I suppose it's the difference between an item of clothing as an individual piece and as something you wear yourself, with other pieces. The colour is so beautiful, though.
It's a shame there are no outlets in Canada; I'd like to be able to try on a piece before spending so much on it. Then again, maybe there being no outlets is ultimately saving me money...

Personally, the Gaspard cardigan is the first Sézane piece I purchased from them almost 5 years ago and I’ve purchased 3 more since that one. I love them. I just wore the very first one that I bought from them the other day, and I got compliments on it. I am very careful how I wash it. Hand wash, and lay flat to dry, but they are still holding up. I made the mistake of putting one of them in the machine and it shrunk (I was young haha) but I immediately repurchased. I’ve worn my gaspards almost every day in the fall/winter. They are the pieces that get the most use in my wardrobe by far. Just got the Rosewood color for my birthday and I love it 💗

Hi! I have an entire Gaspard collection (more than 5 colors) and I have been wearing all of them for years, washing, and they're like new. Amazing quality. Some colors are in fact itchier than others but I usually wear mine over button shirts or tops. I think the Gaspard is an iconic french style piece and I really love it.

I agree with the Max shirt not being petite friendly, it looked like a tent on me. I have a slim pear shape, it made my shoulders look even narrower and the hips wider. I have only seen it work on very slim, ruler shape petites. I ended up getting the Tomboy in chambray/navy hearts in a size larger than my usual, it's a better fit with a similar relaxed vibe. I agree, the Tomboys are better for petites. I think the Sezane shirts in general are their best pieces, very good quality and definitely worth the cost. I also like the quality and cut of their sweatshirts and t-shirts, though they're obviously very overpriced. I only purchase if there's a special design I absolutely love for that reason.

    • @nikkig1146

Hello, does your Tomboy in chambray fit differently than your cotton Tomboy shirts?

    • @marieb5251
      @marieb5251 8 місяців тому

@@nikkig1146 Hi. I don't have a Tomboy in 100% cotton, only in cotton-linen blend. The fit differs by fabric and color, and Sezane will tell you to size up or down if you're deciding between two sizes. For the chambray, it tells you to size down as it runs large. However, I ordered both sizes and preferred the look of the larger size, specially since I want to wear it over t-shirts and tanks. Also, my other Tomboy shrank a bit in the wash, I believe linen blends always do. I suggest you order 2 sizes to see what look you prefer.

super helpful Helen, thank you for sharing. I own a lot of Sezane but none of the shoes and I guess my instict was correct. I also prefer to get my shoes from shoe brand. One place I differ from you, I actually adore Sezane large prints, especially large florals. I'm a tall curvy woman and small prints just look silly on me. I do either large florals, large geometric patterns or leopard print. I skip small patterns and stripes which don't suit me.

I ordered two items, a dress and a sweater, in that fuzzy knit they make. These were a big mistake, I just can’t tolerate the irritating fibers. I’m not sure if it’s the nylon or alpaca content, but even though I always wear light silk knit underlayers, they are so uncomfortable. The loose, floaty fibers constantly get in my eyes, too, and because they’re colorless, they’re really hard to get out. I’ll stick with their Merino wool and Merino/cotton blends, they’re super comfy. Fortunately, one of my favorite items, the Betty Cardigan, comes in this fabric. I also love their Paula Babies, I wish they would restock them in navy, I really need them for my wardrobe.

I also recommend Sezane jewelry. I had their ring for a few years now and it hasn’t tarnished at all. So far all their jewelry held up really well
Oh man, I also like their shoes 😂 they are so comfy for my feet

Interesting topic - i guess for some examples - it depends of the body type. I am tall with wide shoulders and I like Gaspard neckline, Max shirt and some of their trousers. Quality-wise, I absolutely agree that their jewelry is not worth purchasing. But I disagree on the shoes topic - I love their Paula babies, sandals, espadrilles. Some other shoes are not wearable at all for me - especially loafers and sneakers. I think I owe some items from each category from Sezane - excluding jewelry, jeans and sunglasses. I am very happy with all those items. Finally agree with big prints issue - but I also think it all depends on the body type and face feature - I am pale baby face type and it washes me out so it’s just not for me.

I never wear my gaspard. It’s so shapeless and incredibly itchy. Wish I had returned it

I like my Gaspard I tend to wear it a lot the only thing I would change I definitely would of sized down. I love my stripped tomboy shirt I own 2 colors. I have 4 5 silk shirts that I wear on occasions. I bought mohair knits and I love them I prefer to wear underneath some kind of thermal to avoid scratching. I tend to buy fall and winter pieces I avoid summer pieces because our summer lasts 3 months and clothes from sezane are too expensive I bought over the years a couple of items and that's it. I can't justify buying that expensive summer clothes. Last but not list I bought Paula babies and I love them I wear them all the time but I think are overpriced

i hated my gaspard sweater :( awful fabric, fell apart, felt like plastic, fugly and shapeless... the clothes are manipulated in photos by pinning and awkward model poses on the website to hid out poorly they fit. such an annoying aspect to sezane. i like their button downs and 100% wool pants, and a couple pairs of shoes, otherwise, i feel like they're deceptive and don't like supporting the brand anymore.

If wooly fibers are very itchy and irritating, it’s because they are a very low grade. Sezane should specify top grades of fibers instead of the cheap ones they use, then they would be fine. I also have a problem with their neckline styles. I prefer V-necks and they have very few options with these. The ones they do have a just way too low-cut for me, I’m petite and have a quite short torso and they show absolutely everything! It’s not just their sweaters, either, it’s with all their tops and dresses. I don’t show cleavage, I never have, and I don’t want to wear a cami under everything, I’ll overheat and it spoils the line of the item. I’ve fallen out of love with Sezane this year, most of their spring/summer items are just too “statement” to be versatile. I don’t want items that are so memorable that they can only be worn once. They’re great for Insta photos, but not for wardrobes! Thanks for your review, Helen🙂

I find many of Sézane's V neck tops far too low cut too. It's a shame really.

Whenever you look at shoes, you have to remember that you carry your entire weight on your feet. You are always better off buying well-constructed shoes from a reliable shoe manufacturer.

Sezane is moving towards fast fashion by releasing new styles weekly. I have stopped supporting the brand now

Not the same thing. Sezane makes high quality pieces that are built to last, unlike fast fashion brands. Sezane makes very few pieces for their weekly online drops that sell out within minutes. These are mostly collectible pieces for Sezane fanatics. Their goal is to create a cult following, not to sell as many clothes as you can like fast fashion brands. This strategy is likely more profitable than fast fashion, because their pieces are much more expensive. These Sezane pieces will either stay in closets for many years to come, or be resold in the secondary market for the same price, or even higher. Fast fashion clothes are bad quality, and have no resale value. They're tossed after a few wears, and end up in trash piles in African beaches, polluting the oceans.

I wish women would stop complaining about the length.
It’s so hard for taller women to find pants long enough.
You get to hem them . We simply cannot buy them since we can’t add fabric on.

I do not recommend any animal materials from Sezane. They certification is absolutely no guarantee any good for animals or farmers. I think in this time and with their propagation about sustainability animal materials from cruelty is big turn off.

I have a very love-hate relationship with Sezane. I've had really good experiences with their scarves, the resin jewellery (big bracelets/big beaded necklaces), belts, the marinieres, plus a couple of their shirts and blouses, and the Pippa dress (I have the short one). Comfortable to wear, nice fit and fabrics and get complimented on them. I have TERRIBLE experience with Sezane with the fit of their trousers especially but pretty much anything that comes into the category of 'bottoms'. I am a petite, but a stark pear shape and whatever size I buy it just doesn't work. How is it possible as a size EU38 in bottoms in most brands that I have to order a 40 or 42+ in Sezane and even then the way the hips are cut are still TOO NARROW! Apparently their trousers are only cut for people with narrow hips and thighs (except maybe the really wide-legged trousers, but I'm certainly not ordering anything slim fit!). It's very demoralising. I've given up trying their trousers too.

Hmm I have wide hips and I don't have trouble with their trousers (just need to hem them). They have great quality, though admittedly, the wool ones are scratchy.
