LATEST STAR CITIZEN PATCH ALPHA 3.23.1 LIVE
BOREDGAMER GIVEAWAY RULES | / star_citizen_may_2024_...
MY SYSTEM SPEC | / boredgamer_system_specs
Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2024 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
The are no dates for Squadron 42's Release Yet BUT it is now Feature Complete.
I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). They occasionally offer me ships for giveaways too, which I will take if they are truely NO STRINGS ATTACHED.

LATEST STAR CITIZEN PATCH ALPHA 3.23.1 LIVE
tested this thoroughly with a friend over the weekend, there are no 20-50km limits for now.
Any release date for 4.0 have not played sc for months but tested 3.23 before I left to go to thailand it is so smooth only found one bug where my character was still on the bed in my room lol😢 I went to the jump points first time I cant wait to jump through them is it true that sc has a seperate studio working on systems and planets and already have a few sytems finished ?🤔
Respawning in ship should cost some resources.
When iheard about Masrter mode i was afraid it would be bad and it is not, it will need some work but it is not bad. My bigger problem now is bounty missions i tried VLR and was destroyed in seconds so that will need some balance.
@@YTCrimsonWolf End of Q3 is where it's targeted.
Medical bed respawning is exactly what we've needed for a long time. FPS missions have been frustratingly zero sum for too long. With how servers are sometimes, they have been 'run in and die' simulators, then you're back at wherever you put your imprint.
It's a welcome change, but it should probably consume a "resource" to be used, bigger bed has a higher capacity for said resource meaning that there is a limit to the number of respawns available away from main hubs
Medical bed respawning is exactly what we need for simple, short form gameplay. It also single handedly removes the importance of beacons (in addition to the entire tier system) and how they interact with the wider medical gameplay according to the medical notes CIG themselves wrote for themselves as a guide.
Then you have clowns like Zyloh claiming it was the "plan all along", but the medical design notes were written in 2017, updated in 2018, and reiterated on again in 2021. If this was the plan, then they've been what? Lying about the medical concept the entire time? What's the point of keeping medical design notes up to date through years of iteration only to 180 on a random patch with absolutely no announcement? Lol.
This is clearly CIG making a temporary mechanical change for the sake of getting more Ursa Medical sales as a gateway drug to other medical ships, and attracting more players. Otherwise we'd have actual answers to why this change was made. We don't. None of the yellowposts we have explaining this change make any sense.
As much as I understand the benefit and appreciate it, I believe medical beacons will suffer severely. I've been playing for quite a few days now and haven't seen a single beacon for medical rescue.
Medical beacons have created some really nice experiences where often more than one person would try to go a rescue someone from a (sadly) bugged bunker but it created some natural interactions between players.
Now... who cares... bring a Pisces or "Nursa" and you don't need to worry about anything else.
(Edited some grammar errors)
@@antonlink2355 It's a welcome change full stop. And as they've stated multiple times there will be many penalties to respawning in the future. It doesn't have to be now.
I really don't even get why people make so much of a fuss about it. There's literally no controversy whatsoever besides the tinfoil hat idea that they changed it to sell more nursas (which isn't true either, the release of the nursa and the medbed change are simply trying to help the same issue). We get a more accessible medbed combating the increased ship prices and we can use it to respawn when we die in an fps mission.
Most times I set up a beacon to be rescued nobody comes anyways, it takes a long time or they also die.
If one wants to do medical gameplay, join an org and follow them or announce in the server that you'll be doing medical gameplay so that they know. Most people won't even have a cutlass red or a nursa anyways.
Exactly. I generally switch between ship bounties and FPS bunker missions. The amount of times a NPC enemy shoots me through walls or teleports behind me and kills me is infuriating. Now I can just respawn and run back in. Also, I think they’re trying to push the auras Medivac and maybe the Apollo ships will be out with 4.0.
I honestly like the t3 medbed respawn change. I get that it’s less realistic and can make things easier, but considering the amount of ways the game up and kills you, I think it’s warranted. It might give you a chance to get back into the action after the game randomly decided that you don’t need 90% of your ship
Once the game is in beta or released it'll probably be a good idea to remove it as well
Another big ship concept would just mean another jpeg sitting in the backlog for a long time.
Preach
Seriously. The audacity to release another new ship without material movement on the backlog is pretty staggering.
Yeah this worries me too. I have 5 pledge ships in my fleet, none are being built just now. I'm not terribly bothered as the gameplay isn't there for them yet but they have a huge backlog to get through and adding more large ships isn't going to help.
Shhhh (I know 😞, they've really gotta clear out that backlog)
Or it gets made within the next year. It's impossible to make that call. You have really old concept ships that haven't been touched, like the Orion, or you have the Hammerhead which was made in 9 months after it's reveal. Dont pretend you know what is and isnt a priority. You dont. I dont. Nobody does.
The only ones complaining about T3 respawns are Medrunner members.
if its a permant thing im all for it if its temporary then yes I'm complaining they should have never brought it back.
Yeah, well nobody will be able to get one for now. And they will still need help. But Medrunners can come around bunkers and be the mobile hospital for strangers doing missions. Or even get hired to stay in the back and act as support and medical letting the player to rwspawn and be taken back into battle
Perchance a Kraken WITHOUT landing pads, and just a bunch of guns?
"So anyways, I started blasting.."
I am happy med beds work again. With all the glitches it will be nice to be able to enjoy bunkers more thoroughly.
Aside from the med bed on the Carrack, of course... why would anything on that poor ship need to work, anyways... ;)
For the Drake ship, remember the saying that a "small man can cast a large shadow": perhaps the ship will be small. Liking master modes having now experienced them since they're reminiscent of ship flight modes in Elite Dangerous.
dont really need a drake ship though, especially not once they figure out they accidentally didnt add the reclaimer as drake 🤣( it still doesnt look like an aegis ship) we do need the kraken!!
Making it more game-y is a good thing. It takes so long to get into doing something at the moment.
Being able to get back into action faster is a good thing for getting more people into the game.
Completely agree
I sure hope they keep the medbed respawn function as it was that way before.
The increased distance is a nice bonus for those with the better tier medbeds.
There is a bit of a hole that a large Drake could fill. We need a salvage ship in between the Vulture and Reclaimer. Kind of a parallel to the Mole being between the Prospecter and the Arrastra.
For me personally I am not enjoying master modes, some ships and weapons that were OP did need reworking but the changes were to severe. I had to run away from a group of small fighters several times this weekend and I was flying an areas inferno. Each time the ship got absoloutly hammered due to no shields to enable quantum.
In my opinion, respawning on T3 beds is just a matter of increasing the fun right now. simply because we can keep playing a mission or event with our team without having to return for half an hour or parking a giant Carrack or Luxury liner outside. Its just silly when for example the base and respawn point of Jumptowns defenders can be seen from orbit.
But limited respawning in smaller ships also is a great stepping stone to open up a solution for medical care and respawning in exploration gameplay
A drake military transport to rival the hercules would be cool, like a caterpillar mark 2
update the caterpilar
and you have it :)
Or just fix the elevators on the cat
I really like the med bed changes and hope, they keep it the way it is right now.
I don't ever use a med beacon so the medbed is a welcome addition for me.
Don't we already have a Drake Capital ship we are waiting on, waiting on a lot of ships.
The big ships were waiting on require a lot of in game tech we are finally getting. Drakes pipeline is bone dry, they need something between the cat and the kraken to further develop drakes larger ship design. With the Polaris coming, there needs to be something that will counter it.
Ships keep this game funded. Bring on more ships
I am slightly warried that engineering will spoil the solo player experiance. Think they should add the npc crew first
ontop of that even on mp it will spoil it a wee bit. its like needing to drink every 15min and in the future needing to take a shower every 30min and take a shit every 20min
too much timeconsuming useless shit will destroy the game faster then anything else especially if its ontop the 10x calling a ship due not spawning or falling trough the hanger or spawning outside, 10x calling a ship bcos it randomly blew up, buying 50 sets of gear every week due to losing it, also bcos of random bugs etc etc and etc etcetccceeeeerccceeerraaaaaaaaa
We're a passionate group, especially those of us who have been deeply following the game for over TEN YEARS.
2014 and counting
@@daveincv That's the year I joined too. I still remember seeing their first Constellation commercial. It blew my mind and the ship looked massive. (it's actually a medium ship, but I do love my Taurus) I knew Chris from the Wing Commander I-IV games I played & loved, so I was instantly onboard.
One thing I think could help differentiate different med bed types, and help secure medical gameplay is the length of time it takes to respawn, by having punishing time delays for respawning in a tier 3 compared to a tier 2 or 1 bed.
This could also be explained by the power requirements to construct a whole new body. A lower tier med bed takes longer because the same work needs to be done with a lower power capacity. Tier 3 med beds could be optimized for energy efficiency rather than speed, whereas tier 1 and 2 are optimized for speed and a balance of speed and energy consumption.
trying out the free fly thing, its pretty neat but clearly needs a ton more work. excited :3
It makes no sense to me for a medbed that cannot even heal moderate injuries can instead respawn you.
think of it as a convenience thing so your friends don't have to stand around with their thumbs up their arse for 15 min while you to make the corpse run
That search and rescue idea of the medical beds sounds intriguing. Could really add to the medical game play.
I'm really loving medical bed respawning, meaning that respawning isn't just something that's locked behind huge, expensive, multicrew ships. My only concern is that now the only metric for if ship is a good daily driver is whether or not it can fit an ursa.
Maybe the Drake concept ship is the long-promised but almost forgotten battlecruiser that was promised as a stretch goal all those years ago!
That would be an answer to the Polaris indeed ;)
More likely a small to medium interdiction/e-warfare ship with a long range scanner, I highly doubt they will add a large ship let alone another capital ship to the backlog.
As cool as that would be, I'm guessing we get a Corsair variant. They like pretending that variants are new ships, and we seem to like paying for them. Go us!
The $17 million stretch goal unlocked a "ship class" called the battlecruiser. Not a specific ship.
@@rooster1012 I'm thinking that if the ship were small to medium, then they wouldn't be announcing it as a concept. Although, some suggestions that it could by a rival to the Perseus I think do have merit.
I personally don't mind the respawning at all. Keeps me in the game and keeps my opponent coming so that no one gets bored lol.
I would love to see a drake heavy fighter bristling with ballistic Gatling's...
Or just one REALLY BIG one. A Drake Inferno would be epic. Or two S6 guns we can change would be interesting - imagine the mess a pair of deadbolt VIs strapped to a medium fighter could make!
Tbh I like the Idea of a type of Biomass that recreates or duplicates your character using a biomass Gels that builds the body up, OR you could go with the Altered Carbon Concept with bodies are refered to as "Sleeves" and in the event of death, you just get downloaded into a new body.
Watch it be a small ship called " the shadow"
The ‘gnat’ or the ‘mosquito’
Does it know what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
nah it's drake, a small ship will be pirate or blade themed... Stiletto would be my guess
Its nice to have a small ship that you can respawn at instead of having to get the carrack , 890 etc. I think it will be a lot more friendly to finally get a medical ship that can actually respawn even with some restrictions.
I really hope that the Drake capitol ship concept is something like WW2 Q-ships. A big commercial ship modex to house a fair amount of hidden fire power, but it is fragile. That could be quite fun.
I think that the “respawning juice” is a really good idea? The infinite respawn should be costly. Like if you had a lot of beds at JT it would be a breeze to control it(of course, respawns wouldn’t be the only deciding factor but u get the idea). Or set a type of cooldown on it and disable it after respawning
I like the idea of the medical goo that you need to stock in order to respawn. It would mean there is a limit on deaths, you can't just keep respawning and going back in. Like maybe the tier 3 beds have enough for 2 respawns before you have to buy more goo. Then the tier 2 beds have 5 or something and so on, whereas the hospitals just have infinite respawning ability so you have a chance to get back in and keep your gear after dying so long as you get back to your body but if you get kissed again then you have 1 more chance to either leave with your ship or risk losing all your gear and have to claim your ship
I like drake’s design language, it seems more like something humans would develop, very utilitarian. Duct tape, spit, and wishes keep them flying.
You must know different humans than I do.
The drake harbinger - A larger multi role ship, with a hangar that will focus on ship salvage and repair. It’s hangar will carry the vulture and it will be able to utilize the scraps to repair other ships with lasers. (Pure speculation but it’s what the game needs)
As for Med bed drama, all they really need to do imo is add a resource like biogel or something that is required to use the medbed each time and when you run out you cant spawn at it.
I personally love that I can respawn in any med bed now, makes bunkers easier, just take my Pisces CR8 down to the bunker with less worries.
Medical bed respawning was the selling point of some ships like the cutlass red. They need to have it in game for sure.
Honestly love the med bed changes, specially with how unpredictable fps missions can be sometimes so it's a nice change to have a medbed close by
Limitations on range and total medical resource consumption specifically for respawning would be practical. With different teirs having different ranges and the rate or number of spawns they could support. I could see that as practical. I still want ship beacons to work so i could park a carrak or liberator someplace.
For my part I like the med changes, but I hope that medical gameplay in general will become more diverse and complex. Maybe it could even become a gameplay loop with rescue and recovery missions.
I was happy to hear about the Medbeds. Not everyone has a ship with a T2 bed or better and that limits what they can do currently in the game for FPS content. It's easier to get a ship or vehicle with a T3 so that opens the door for smaller groups or newer players to try out FPS content with... one less frustration to worry about.
I put this idea about the Med beds in Spectrum :"I've read all the drama concerning Medical Bed T2/T3 re-spawning and understand the solution won't fit what everyone wants due to things not making too much sense. "Regenerating" from the back of my truck is too much magic.
I was thinking, what if we don't actually "regenerate" when we have a medical bed 50km/20km away (whatever the distance) but "teleport" to it just before we die. You would then appear in your T2/T3 bed and get immediate medical assistance. Not a regeneration because you didn't die, and no need for regeneration "goo". To make it more believable you would carry a device that would allow teleportation to the bed you set as your "regeneration" point, except I wouldn't call it "regenerate". The device you carry is linked to your mobi-glas which will indicate how much time you have. You can be either rescued by another player OR if your wounds are severe your mobi-glas would indicate you a goner and tells the device to "teleport" you to the medical bed.
You would actually DIE if you are not carrying that teleport device and will wake up "regenerated" at a T1 bed at a medical facility which will affect your regeneration cycles.
The teleport device can only be used in conjunction with the medical bed you are set to "re-spawn" at. AND to make it more believable it would have a limited number of teleportations (limited energy usages... batteries?), meaning you need to be prepared to carry multiple or risk being regenerated back at a T1 bed at a medical facility.
Teleportation would also avoid all the dead bodies left behind due to "death" AND in the future when death of a spaceman becomes active we could minimize the counter towards eternal death, passing all our possessions to our dear nephew "Bob" who will continue our legacy... "
teleportation would make it even more unrealistic and thats not what most people want.
Yeah teleportation wouldn't really fit into the universe, as if they can do that why aren't we seeing it elsewhere in the 'Verse. I think a better solution (least in terms of 'Lore') would be to give these T3 close range 'Respawns' a drone that goes out and collects you, and its less a regeneration and more a 'med-evac'. I also think this would fit in with the idea in the video of retaining the injuries, as reviving this way multiple times means that you are potentially returning to the fight more and more torn up. Also adding this drone based system in adds in options for counterplay (in PvP) were a drone can be targeted potentially, and in certain areas there could be ECM designed to prevent the use of these drones forcing people to actually extract their allies or to do a full regeneration, in things like active warzones.
@@mutepoint7378 True, I like the use of drone better than teleport. Even if it's just a message in the bottom of the screen when re-spawning. Other players shooting the drone brings to mind that issue with the Mongrel Squad Org that CIG banned one of their members for being next to the Med-Bed and would shoot the re-spawned player over and over again. Not sure if they would allow players to shoot at the drone. Also how would the drone manage when player is shot down somewhere underground or inside a building? That's why I thought of teleport. Re-spawning seems the only option. They will need to make all beds T1 and forget about T2 and T3.
You should be able to buy/make a clone of yourself with your imprint at a hospital, then you can carry the clone in some sort of container in your ship so it acts as a second chance. I think that would be fun while also not being too overpowered when it comes to infinite respawns. It would work for the current state of the game at least, when dying is so common and there are no meaningful injuries like limb loss yet.
I always enjoy the style of drake ships and vehicles, I hope they continue with the rough and ready style.
It was my first time seeing the inside of Crusader ships myself, during fleet week. I got a new appreciation for crusader
Medical beds letting me spawn from other tiers brought me back to SC after a long hiatus due to lack of actual content (missions, raids, economy being weird). Im all for it!
I'm fine with the med bed respawn for now, but what I wanted in the future is More in-depth wound system and instead of being on the ground for an hour and a half waiting to bleed out, the ability to regain consciousness and start to patch yourself back up, or your armor auto inject you. It is several hundred years in the future unless your brain has been destroyed they can bring you back.
Also maybe bunkers should actually be group missions and not some crazy die hard scenario ?
I agree that this patch actually feels like a game instead of a tech demo. Master Modes makes a pretty big difference.
All for med bed respawning for sure from all tier beds. Makes those Ursa Medivacs all the more useful for ground missions.
Medical changes are great. you still have to prepare as you don't get a free undersuit when you respawn. you'll start to realize a basic mission might cost you 200k in gear if you can't get to your original body. I had my corsair with a bunch of basic kits for security post mission with the nursa in the back. Managed to burn through a few of them. if they add medical goo in too, then I feel you will still need to call for rescue with a sufficiently difficult mission as you'll run out of gear and med goo at some point.
Great round up. Thanks in particular for having a grounded perspective on bugs, gameplay changes and alpha testing. Both of you!
I really liked all of your suggestions for improving the med bed system, being able to effectively heal tier 1 and 2 injuries at a tier 3 bed by respawning seems like something that shouldn't work like that
Tobii eye tracker has genuinely changed the game completely for me
Im honestly looking forward to physicalized cargo and personal hangers more than 4.0. I feel like that will open up so much more opportunity with what we can do
I just want portable beds on a hover platform/wheels that I can place in the cargo of my ship. Medical ships can have all kind of medical fluff, while a portable bed can be a simple and basic respawn point.
The moment that server meshing v1.0 gets added, it is the moment where most annoying bugs are being removed of the game, as they were mostly caused by the low server fps. If they keep player count per shard for around 200 with 5 servers. That will allow for 15~20 server fps. I have been playing since 3.16, and most of the annoying bugs are really related to the server fps.
At some point CIG needs to take a year with all of the staff on PU right now and put all features on hold and focus on bug fixing. The problem with live service games is it can be hard to keep things clean with the constant pressure to put out new features, and SC has A LOT of features on the backlog. But at a certain point they need to put attention to squashing the annoyances that long term players have learned to avoid.
Med beds allowing respawn is very exciting. If you die in a bunker you can hopefully respawn in your medbed that you've brought with you.
Med respawning is fine to get back into the action. Some limitations that would encourage medical gameplay would be welcome though.
Great video!! Regarding the medical respawn in beds, I think it's fine to have them on lower tiers, but make it that the tier 3 beds have only got enough capacity to respawn once per user, then that vehicle will need to RTB for rearming which refills the bed (clone ammo?)... Tier 2 beds can respawn up to 5 times and tier 1 beds are unlimited as they are actual station beds.
This way they don't take the functionality away from the beds but makes the player plan more strategically.
In saying that though, the new Ursa nursa official video will shoot CIG in the foot cause it show cases unlimited respawn... If they change this, then it is false advertising and CIG will need to allow refunds for those who bought it... Else it's a 💩 show for PR....
Bed respawns would be staying for the foreseeable future me thinks.
Drake is basically the pirate brand lol. I hope this new ships is Drake's version of the Orion. A Capital class vessel, but with purposes towards fabrication. The Kraken will need: Ammo, Weapons, Ship parts, and Fuel. This vessel would be able to fill that gap allowing organizations to stay out into the dark for long periods of time. I envision a large organization pairing such a vessel with the Kraken or even the Hull class ships to import raw goods and export its product. If it does have the ability to mine on it's own it should not be as efficient as the Orion. if it uses salvage instead it should have a way to dock and Transfer cargo from a reclaimer.
I'm super excited about the new Drake concept! I hope it's either a heavy fighter or a corvette sized ship.
I'm glad they made tier 3 beds respawn again. I had pledged for the cutty red back in 3.13 , only to have it's bed nerfed two patches later. Now, I melted that cutty right after they did that, but I did get a Mursa!
It would be easy to walk back T3 bed spawning if they hadn’t released a high production advertisement showing that if you buy a Medivac with real cash you can use it as an infinite spawn point.
Casting a very large shadow could mean that it's a stealth ship that hides the signature of itself and other ships
Bored, I'm just gonna say this, as a Military veteran, The inside of the Idris being need, clean, and bare bones makes absolutely perfect sense to me. Whether or not it is on purpose. I know from experience that every single time we had any of our vehicles on display they were clean out, washed down and detail cleaned. Weapon racks being empty make sense for a different reason, but still falls in line perfectly. The crew I normally play with has a mix of civies and vets, and they (the civilians) said the exact same thing you did. And all us vets at once said the same thing. "Yeah Its Inspection (Parade) Ready."
Med Beds: So just a reminder to those that need it, This (Star Citizen) is an ALPHA. For those of you who have never done any QA or video game testing before. This change makes perfect sense. For example: You ever go to a bunker (or any ground mission for that matter), and get shot through a wall, Teleporting enemies, fell through the would? Did you happen to have your QR code on and grab a screen shot so you can report it so it can get fixed? From a QA and bug testing stand point, this med bed reverse is supposed to help that, as well as alleviate the absolute SLOG ground missions can be on a bad server. Did the release this change right before the Nursa? Yes, so what? Like for real, do any of the complainers and doomsayers actually care? Its An ALPHA. CIG uses us to find bugs that they miss, and if I can get back to a bunker in a few minutes to report the spot where I fell through the floor, or get a shot of the wall that some 9Tails NPC shot me through, Then how is that, in an ALPHA, a bad thing? Does it hurt the Med beacon this for the short term, yeah. Can this change lead to more and faster fixes in the future, yes. Sorry if this is ranty, I'm just tired of all the Doomers and clickbaiters making everything the end of the world.
Again all sorry for the rant.
I think it might be a drake mining refuling ship. Thing about drake ships, rather then giving you a line up of ships that fill a specific roll, they give you One ship that fits a few roles like the Buc is kinda a medium, kinda a light fighter. The Karake is kinda Jav, Kinda a Idris. So if they come out with a ship I think it will fit the role of a few ships not really just one, and the Polaris is for a focused ship.
we should have to BUY medical supplies and place them in med vehicle. that way there is money still floating around and adding more supply and demand for commodities. Revives take XXX amount of supplies each time and Healing takes XX amount aswell.
The idea of a Drake capital ship just gives me flying scrapyard images.
The Drake Concept ship is something that basically blindsided me, so I don't even have any ideas to speculate with. Still, the excitement is real! As a Vulture and Mule user, Drake can be exciting hahaha.
I'd love to see a large Drake mining ship.
I think all medical beds should allow respawning until beta BUT every medical ship for sale should make it VERY CLEAR that they might not have that functionality on release. (I'm talking there should be a handful of warning messages everywhere when buying such a ship/checking out with it)
So if you die near a level 1 you can respawn there but there should add that if a teammate brings your body back to it then you get the option too, so wait to spawn a bit until teammates are free to drag body back if you died a bit out of range.
I'd like to see some purpose-built long range escort fighters. Right now, Stanton is the only system we have access to, so any fighter can be used as an escort. In the future, cargo ships will be traveling across multiple systems. We need fighters that can carry enough fuel to travel with a cargo ship, two crew and accommodation for them. The Banu defender is about the only ship that fits that role at the moment. The Vanguards do too, but they are specifically military ships, overspecced for the job of escorting cargo haulers, and expensive. The Tana would be perfect if it had more fuel.
I'd love to see Drake's approach to a long-range escort fighter, or perhaps a heavy fighter to accompany the Buccaneer. I suspect the new vehicle will actually be a tiny bike like the Pulse, or a small racing ship.
I want the Ironclad so much. Such a beautiful ship! It will likely have ~1500 SCU of cargo space as a bridge cap for the C2 to Hull C hauling capacity.
Love the banter between you two. Wish you all would do a podcast on games you all play.
Game needs a medium size salvage ship. Something between the Vulture and Reclaimer... notionally 2 salvage beams, 100 SCU cargo space, & 3 man crew.
With Death of a Spaceman, the different tier of beds could determine just how messed up your DNA is after being revived at the bed.
The Polaris fly by, much like sniper island, was in our hearts all along.
Dammit, gave me a real laugh gg
Since it's a concept, it obviously isn't the Kraken, and the Caterpillar is already in game. My guess for "casts a very large shadow" would be a Drake base-building ship.
Really would like a resource that beds need stocking with to prevent spawn spamming.
It doesn’t make logical sense to keep injuries that can’t be healed by certain tier med beds. That said, they could increase the clone degradation penalty with the lower tier beds. Lore would be that they’re just less sophisticated/powerful based on what they’re installed in/on
My only issue with bed logging is that i was stuck in my nursa in the middle of space because my ship died and the nursa went into soft death but would still respawn me lol.
Only spent a few bucks for fleet week, a few Mirai Pulses, and the Ursa Medvac. Interested in the Drake concept for sure.
lower distance and a consumable sounds like a good compromise. i still want to see overall time till death to go up. i enjoy bunkers with friends where someone gets hurt and needs a proper evac. what isnt fun is staring at a 90 minute timer ticking down to zero without anyome helping out
The Nursa will help FPS a lot. It can be frustrating to die to a bug after spending a lot of time getting ready and doing the bunker or whatever, but it would be nicer if the game was more stable so the need for the Nursa would be minimized. I think I will always prefer bug fixing, stability and working on the backer bought backlog ships to any new features or ships.
The med bed respawn for all level beds would be fine if, as Zin said, you keep the wounds, but I would think you might allow it to fix one level of damage. An expansion of the med gameplay could mean you need a medtech to work the knobs and switches to make it work. Some players have been talking about some kind of bio chemicals needed to make the clone process work. Med gameplay is still in the first iteration, so I expect some limits and/or process to get added -- sort of like engineering gameplay for the bio game.
I would think respawn and injuries should take time to fully heal -- even if you had a med bed. Level 3 and 2 injuries might even heal on their own over time, but you would keep a permanent limp or weakness in the arms if you didn't get it fixed by a med tech with a bed (at least for level 2; level three is like a flesh wound).
I think, even if just for Alpha, this med bed respawning thing is important to allow people to play the game in an enjoyable way. Especially with the c8r being cheap now, and purchasable in game. Letting people just PLAY the game instead of playing Tram Simulator all the time is going to be huge if they are out and about testing new content... like the bunkers.
am expecting the drake ship to be a direct competition to the RSI Galaxy especially with modular ships being implemented
Waiting 15 min for a rescue is prettily slow. I like the change. I love what Zen is saying about T3 Can re-spawn but not fix TI and T2 injuries
I like the respawn at all beds but maybe it should be limited to one use per trip and be refueled at hangers like ammo 🤔
It is NOT temporary, BUT it will mean that regen will come with some risk. It presages the coming of Death of a Spaceman. I think you are going to see the introduction of regen 'mishaps' and maybe prosthetics.
Somthing Industrial or a heavy fighter from Drake would be awesome.
Maybe a Drake competitor to the Legionnaire. As far as I know there is only the one planned boarding vessel, a second would at least give some options. Being that it's still a concept ship the release window might line up with the Legionnaire later in the year.
There's an awful lot of gameplay in flux, but I feel like they'll all lead to an improved experience as long as the designers get time to tune and improve them.
I got an Endeavor in 2015 and I'm thinking I'll get it by 2030 if I'm still alive. When would another large concept release, 2050?
The medical bed part is really good for an alpha gameplay perspective, then we need to see what the final version will look like.
I'd wager the new Drake ship would be some sort of Heavy fighter considering their product lineup, otherwise it would have to be some sort of fleet ship like a hammerhead or so.
I am fairly certain in lore you do get cloned. If you die and come back too many times, it gets to a point that they can't clone you anymore because your genetic code degrades too much. My headcanon for the range limit on beds is because the bed can only monitor your vitals so far. As for balance, I think adding a cooldown to the respawn would be good. Like give tier 3 a cooldown of like...maybe 2 hours? Something to motivate you to not just commit not alive to get rid of injuries
Also I believe we'll see a Kraken flyby
