1982 rm 125 First ride after Mods Pre 85 & Fmx championship

- 1st round of the 2023 southernmotocross pre85 & fmx championship.
This was the first time riding the bike after the long winter break. We put the following bits in.
Boysen reed petals.
tmx35 carb.
Single side dg airbox.
Pvl ignition.
Gebores cone pipe.
After modification by helyarmx. Some fine tuning from kelvin tatum and a new clutch installed by Simon dougherty it was ready to go. :)
Finnished 3rd in class this moto and the bike is definitely running faster than last year. Absolutely loved it 😀 as you could probably tell 🤣
Unfortunately the gear lever sheared off at the spline in the 2nd moto after a wicked start :/ . So we had to try and Finnish he day with no gears , salvaging some points at least. :))) 🤣

I got this bike in 1988 at 8yrs old, rode it til 2005. My dad passed and I gave up riding. Was a great bike

nice one smx Horsham.. i rode that bike there age 19 in 1984.... great memories i was happy being a clubman.. c group was enough... i got an rm250 and got competitive in B group.. but the kids came along... had another try aged 42 in 2007 on a yz125 at horsham... fat.. unfit.. me hands were fooked after practice.. arms pumped.. nice to re-visit but its better as a young mans memory.. horsham is such a good clubman track.. ..
Yes absolutely smx great for some club racing :) Nice to see it brought back some memories for you, its always nice to hear people's experiences :) Do you still go and watch moto now and again? This was my uncles bike but he passed away in 83 at 15 so I ride for him now :) ❤
@@sbam4152 i ride trials .. im a member of sidcup mc club.. i live 5 miles from canada heights i go watch a few mx races throughout the year.. and observe a trial or two... its in the blood for life lol....

You need to fan that clutch to keep it in the power band otherwise you go nowhere fast. great little bikes but you have to cane them to make them go fast. wish I still had one.

What is ur clutch lever and brake lever perches?
They're both pro taper clutch lever/perches ,,,
, the one for the brake is upside down :))

Bought the first one new to race the 82 season , freshened it up & raced it in 83 . That off season l found a used but mint cond 82 less then 100 miles away for a reasonable price so l happily bought that bad boy , god l wish l had mothballed that one for later in life lol , but l didn't , l rode the crap out of it & sold both off , quit mx & went to harescramble racing from that point til now but l'd love to find a good 82 RM 125 or 250Z to race vintage stuff .
That's brilliant:))) Yes mate if only you'd have mothball them both 😂 Quite the investment, my dad often says if only they knew to buy a few and put in a container for 40 +years 🙈. But that hindsight for ya. 😅
They do crop up for sale on fb and ebay time to time though, some nice restorations out there :)
