Why You Need Carbs to Build Lean Muscle | Keto is NOT the Answer

  • This video is about why I think you need to eat carbs to build lean muscle and why keto is not the answer for making muscle gains. If building muscle is your goal, eating carbs is the quickest and most effective way to give your muscles energy during workouts.
    On a low carb diet, your body creates glucose through gluconeogenisis, the process of breaking down muscle tissue and using protein for energy. Carbs are protein sparing, which means you’ll avoid losing muscle if you eat enough carbohydrates.
    The issue with keto is that although you can get quick weight loss results, staying in ketosis for a long time is hard to do. Also if you eat too much protein on a keto diet, you will not stay in ketosis and your body will use protein for energy instead of ketones (fat).
    If your muscles are loaded with glycogen (glucose), you can train harder in the gym and get better muscle pumps. Carbohydrates give you energy to push yourself in the gym and help you make more muscle gains over time.
    Eating carbs to build lean muscle is about finding the right balance between filling your glycogen stores, and not eating excess energy that you don't use.

    What do you think would be the best carb to have ? I like brown rice but I don’t know if that is a good thing to eat or not.

      Solid 👌🏼 mostly rice potatoes oatmeal but everyone seems to react to carbs differently
