    Found eating carbs (white rice) before and after working out helps a lot. Exemplifies its “fuel”. Down 4-5kilos in 2 weeks. Not too excessive workouts too, 3-4x a week, 45mins-1hr.

    You never see any professional athlete in sports such as soccer, basketball, hockey, football do a low carb diet. You simply don't have the tank to push hard if your glycogen stores are depleted and you're depending on fats to convert to glucose.

    Carbs are essential as it is consistent with your body turning proteins and fats into forms of sugar. Your body loves sugar.

      Because the process of making glucose from fat and amino acids requires stress hormones like cortisol. At least until you're fully fat adapted. If you stick with it, you may find thaf the negative feelings will subside.

    Keto diet can make you fat if you eat more total calories than you burn AND even a carb-only diet shall get you lean if you eat less total calories than you burn. Calorie deficit is the real difference maker.
    Fruits and veggies are good carbs and provide many valuable nutrients that proteins and fats don't. Fiber, for example.
    Also, those people people who exclude carbs should remember that body has to work extra hard to convert good portion of their proteins into glucose through complex biological processes because glycogen is the real fuel for muscular activity (after getting converted into ATP) and harder the activity the more it is needed. Ketones alone are not sufficient and are not as efficient.

    Also you have to take into account of how practical it is for being able to utilize ketones for energy while on low carb.
    To keep you either have to be all the way keto and get adapted to it and or be on high carb because if not you will tank just being low carb like 100 grams , keto they recommended under 20 carbs so if you’re at 100 or even lower then you’re doing a disservice to yourself because you are not getting the benifits of keto.
    My opinion do high carb, my energy levels got so much better after coming from low carb/ calorie deficit to maintenance calories and increasing carbs! Night and day difference

    • @matheus30331
      @matheus30331 2 роки тому

      Maybe you can mix both. You have 3 meals a day, for example, 2 of those you eat carbs and protein with low fat and 1 of the meals you eat keto style, eating protein and some fat, no carbs(a salad is ok to put in) and see what happens and how you feel.

      I would say get keto adapted (which might take 4 months) because that will save you from becoming insulin resistant in mid 50s.

    • @GOD-FearingAlpha
      @GOD-FearingAlpha 4 місяці тому

      @@bhaskarbharath that’s not how it works . Our brains run off carbohydrates and it’s essential. It’s only when people over do it and are sedentary that they become that because it gets stored into fat cells not used as glycogen for the muscles. So use carbs to fuel your workouts and you will have a short spike than return to baseline levels , don’t keep hammering carbs thorough out the day and have it stored where you don’t need them and yes you will get sick and obese. All I know is being keto , you need to be very careful as you have o supplements all this extra stuff to keep your electrolytes in check and on top of that you may run into other health markers that are detrimental including testosterone tanking. My personal opinion is use carbs , not processed junk . Ones including fruit because these types include fiber which blunts the spike of your insulin spike than a quality protein meal for the evening. I’m able to lose weight this way and actually have the energy to go workouts while utilizing the carbs properly. In the end everyone is different. I just like it this way and works for my mental and physical well being.

    • @bhaskarbharath
      @bhaskarbharath 4 місяці тому

      @GOD-FearingAlpha I agree to your point that when you eat less processed carbs and use it around your high intensity workout window and not over eat them (like that unfortunate eat small meals every 2 to 3 hours 6 times a day advisors say), you can definitely lead a healthy lifestyle and not be hyper insulinogenic. However, regarding the brain, yes it needs glucose. But it doesnt have to be dietary glucose. When you become keto adapted, it can use ketones for 70% of its function and the remaining can be made by your liver from gluconeogenesis (you liver converts glycerol from fat to glucose and that process is demand driven rather than having intermittent glucose spikes). Which is the reason why keto works great for people with alzheimers as well which is type 3 diabetes wherein their brain gets insulin resistant. Regarding testoterone, it depends on which keto one does. Just like how people can do processed carb and junk food intake, they can do dirty keto with grain fed beef and chicken with vegetable seed oils and farm raised fish that keeps you in keto but the high omega 6s and 9s inflame the hell out of the body and plummets the testosterone. However, if one eats grass fed and finished beef and lamb, pastured chickens and eggs , wild caught fish, grass fed ghee, butter , lard, tallow, olive oil etc., the testosterone levels would be increased on the contrary. The electrolyte balance can be maintained from the same diet and the most one has to do is may be to add a bit more himalayan pink salt. One thing I agree is it is also extremely difficult to stick to clean keto for that long of a time. Its possible only if it becomes your lifestyle. Thats the downside of it. If the priority is high intensity and one want to take advantage of that slightest competitive edge which can only be attained by carbs, burning glycogen in safe manner is an option. Personally, yes, in initial stages of ketosis, my exercise capacity went down. But it was back in 2 to 3 weeks and from then it was a cleaner burn, like a constant unending source of energy but I'm not competitive though.

      @@bhaskarbharath nice rebuttal, very grounded in what you’re saying and all that makes sense and is true , however living in the real world with social interactions , and life in general is say majority of people will have a hard time adopting to that lifestyle and in return will self destruct because they will ultimately have a crash course. Also to mention these markers of being on keto and really seeing if all that is happening with said person is hard to see because you don’t have anything to go off of unless you’re periodically testing your testosterone , electrolyte levels etc. me personally i don’t eat small meals a day . I carb up before I go workout then may have a snack or something but then eat a quality whole source protein based meal. All awhile maintaining a caloric deficit to burn fat. I feel it’s a catch 22 because you neeed the energy to even workout to burn calories but I felt bogged down when I did keto and yes you can say give it time but I feel with other people that have done it long term they didn’t really feel all that great and had long term health issues. I usually skip lunch if I eat breakfast so I have that intermittent fasting as well that helps me but I believe most people don’t have the discipline to navigate with carbs which is why it has such negative connotation towards them. I never feel sluggish from them because I I utilize them correctly instead of binging on the couch with them. Nice chat 🤘

    Not to be a snob but wouldn’t the correct word be adapt vs evolve when it comes to our bodies seeing carbs not being essential and using proteins and fats for energy.

  • @jamilakalilj

    During ice ages, If there were no carbs [from plants) then how did the supposed animals (that were eaten by humans at the time] get food from essential sources in food webs/chains (i.e. plants & algae)? That is a bad argument. If we talk evolution that argument is overly flawed, because our body prefers carbohydrates as a PRIMARY fuel source.
