    Great video, you are very skilful!
    My landlady Mrs Swinton (half-Lesbian) makes model kits, and she is always encouraging me to take-up the hobby again. I used to make kits as a little lad, but I was rubbish at it; however I am enjoying watching this build!

    Dear Nigel,
    I pressed the wrong button when looking at your video. I have corrected this now, but am sorry for this mistake.
    Excellent video as ever.
    Regards,

    I’m late again to the party having just watched part 4. Love the pre-shading and then the top coat, with some weathering it is going to look great. Now on to part 5, I shall be watching. Cheer mate.

    great post nigel, I agree the brown and darkwr grays on bottom surfuces work out so much better than a stark black, thanks for sharing

    Thanks Nigel,for this Hurricane series,you’ve motivated me to pick up 1/32 again. Decided to tackle a special hobby A5M2b Claude,your technique translates perfectly for any kits I have. Thanks for a great series,glad Jess is doing better

    Hi, Nigel. I’ve not built the kit, therefore I’m not in a position to comment on how good (or bad!) this Revell offering is. That said, for what is a 40 quid model, you’re making it look very nice indeed.👍

      Thank you Lloyd. from what I am hearing, the kit seems to vary. Pauls wings fell together and fitted the flaps beautifully??

    I don't know if it'll work for that application but I use little drops of micro krystal klear, (which is probably just PVA I guess?) to temporarily attach things like canopies and landing gear doors for painting. it makes it easy to peel them off later and clean up the leftover glue.
    It occurs to me, now, that you've probably already solved that problem though ;)

    Looking very nice indeed! I've now got mine to the primer stage, I obviously used your advice fo rfitting the wings, but even with all of your tips and tricks I still had a proper struggle to get it anywhere near good enough, but its primed now, just a couple of small areas to touch up and I'll be going for painting the underside, nose and rear stripe with MRP sky. I also had a problem with the scoop, I ended up using CA on the inside and filling it on the outside. I found a couple of pics of the radiator on line and they look to be black, but I'm by no means an expert. I'm really enjoying this kit, it has its minor problems but thats what the hobby is all about, it would be boring if they all went together perfectly. Hope you and Jess are feeling better mate!

    I’m certain the ref the wheel bay part F108 I’m fairly certain mine had a curve on the middle side facing toward the engine was bowed just enough to put the fit out slightly. Mine also appeared to have a slight longitudinal twist which I over came by gluing in stages to keep in position. I’m sure though that doing that has stressed the area ever so slightly but it still appears to have gone on to be a reasonable fit.
    I did have to sand the part of the belly from back of cockpit back on the front edge to seat evenly with the parts around it. Again it seems ok now

    When I do pre-shade I try to use a Dark grey rather than black (Sometimes a darkish blue if on the undersides) and only pre-shade major panel-lines (Like Spar covers, wing gun ammo bays etc.) I have found straight black is "too Harsh" in contrast and more difficult to blend into the top coat(s). I supplement that with some careful post-shading.
    Regarding the Camouflage: The RAF used "Welcome Mat" material (The mats were of thickly matted wicker about 5cm thick (About 2 inches) and were often also supplied to Squadron Maintenance Units AFAIK, as they were cheap and readily available. I heard but cannot confirm that such material masks were also supplied to the firms making tanks, etc, just differently shaped. (Mickey Mouse ears!) The RAF one were made to standard Patterns, Initially A and B style, later A style only in different sizes. HTH.

      Hi Brett, I actually used a very dark grey on the upper surfaces and a brown underneath, and only did the main panel lines? I have used white tak sausages on the upper surfaces for the camo which I believe gives a great demarcation in 1/32 scale.

    Hi Nigel, I’m curious to know what makes you choose a certain brand of paint. I’ve seen you using XF pints and LP pints in addition to a AK paints, what’s your thought process behind which paint you choose for a particular project and why thanks in advance

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  Рік тому +1

      That is one BIG question Haydn... LP are great as they don't need a primer and key to the plastic very well. XF are god because thinned with levelling thinner they dry very fast and there is a great range of colours. As they are pretty old there are many mixes available online to achieve the required shade, just like I do on this project for the green and brown camo. AK real colour are great, but I sometimes wonder on their true claimed accuracy?

    • @markoldreive
      @markoldreive Рік тому

      @@NigelsModellingBench I’ve started59 use the AK real color seems good with both brush and air and thins nicely with water, Mr color levelling thinners and their own thinner for the range. Over 240 Colors now available.

    Hi Nigel! Would you know if your Ginour hand tool would accept Dremel bits? I have a Dremel but it’s too powerful for plastic model work. Wonder if I can still use my multiple Dremel bits with the Ginour?
