    Still playing catchup Nigel. I'm on decals. Love the tip on the gun coverings to make sure they are absolutely not straight or they just look bad. That's clever. Good primer rant. Why is it when we try to cut corners it never pays off?

    ANYbody else notice how the canopy rails "toe in" as they go forward? Supposed to be straight. Don't look too hard at it or you will say "WTF"???
    This kit is a very strange mix of good and weird. Nothing away from Nigels excellent build and vids.

    Looking fantastic Nige! very nice paint job indeed, I learned the hard way many moons ago about not priming, I always prime, nine times out of ten with Mr Surfacer grey or black. I have left canopy masks on for weeks without a problem, even if you do get a bit of residue left after you remove the masks its easy enough to remove. Hope you and Jess are feeling batter mate!

    When I got back into modelling a couple of years ago I went to my local model shop and asked what primers they had, "oh no Sir, we don't stock primers, never primed a model in my life" was the reply I got! Now I buy all my bits and pieces online, and I always prime , so great advice Nigel! Also, surely Revell contacter would work better with Revell plastics, although a pain to use....

    Lovely paint job, Nige. Looks every inch a Hurricane to me. Bt the way, Aqua Gloss is still available as part of Ammo by Mig's new A-Stand paint range which is in fact Alclad (slightly rejigged to Mig's specs). I saw them demonstrated at Telford and was assured that the Aqua Gloss is unaltered.

    I've been building the 1/32 Revell Spitfire Mk IIa and have experienced the same gluing issues as you with the soft plastic and Tamiya Extra Thin. I've resolved the problem by just using a more liberal amount of Extra Thin, which melted the plastic and after drying I had a strong bond. Please test and see if it works on the Hurricane as it is a much newer Revell kit and the plastic may be a bit different.
    Fantastic update as you covered the complete finishing stages. ... so well done.

    Trying some different paint. I've had success using Mr Surfacer 1500 as a primer thinned with Mr Color leveling thinner. My question is: can I thin Mission Model Paint with Mr color leveling thinner?? If not, what should I use? (I'm airbrushing)

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  Рік тому

      Not sure Chris.. isn't that Mission paint a special that needs thinner and something else added?

  • @mbenn8168
    @mbenn8168 Рік тому +1

    Simple question…(to everyone really) when you spray wings and tails, do you mask the top and bottom to get a crisp line between the light underside and top colour? Or do you just airbrush the wing from the top and underside to get a slightly fuzzy line. I mask everything but there are times when I see people just spray freehand, and I think “oh no, it must be covered with overspray -but the end result looks fine”. Maybe it’s me, or the paint, or the sirbrush, or climate change etc etc…

    • @NigelsModellingBench
      @NigelsModellingBench  Рік тому +2

      It depends on the subject. For example, a Lancaster in night camo will have a sharp demarcation between top and bottom, an ME 323 has a non masked demarcation so will be done freehand or with white tak sausages. The overspray issue depends also on the subject.

    Hi Nigel, another great video and a lovely model to boot. Can i just ask and this is my ignorance showing through, why are the aircraft's reg different each side? I'd love to get back in to the hobby again but i think my disability would not allow me to do the models justice but watching you guys are probably the next best thing! Carry on the good work.

      NV is the squadron, B is the aircraft code. I reckon they keep the roundel in roughly the same spot so move the letters around.

    Revell has come out with its own extra thin cement so I wonder if they have tweaked the recipe of their plastic for that? And if a rival brand’s extra thin didn’t work as before on their new plastic that would be a bonus, wouldn’t it? 🤔
