Most Tull fans are getting up in their years now. It’s interesting to hear this music now after many decades, and it still seems just as fresh and powerful as it was back in the day.
No man. The best line up. What a question. I saw Benefit tour. Then my 2nd was 1972. Thick as a brick. I loved both those Lin ups. The earlier was definitely a kinda heavy blues feel. Still they could rock any band off the stage.
Glenn and Clive were the Best Tull Raw energy and Power rythum section. Once they left that Raw power left with them and Ian became Popeye's Voice and went Bald..sad
Most excellent live recording. We all find tull at different moments. I didn’t see them live until broadsword but fully appreciate most of what came before that and many after. Still going.
The fantastic Jethro Tull the most mind bending rock fusion band of all the Classic Rock golden Age. PS shared a pint with Glenn Cornick more than once, the epitome of a great bass player and good musical soul.
Met Martin and Barrie Barlow during Storm watch Tour.. Barlow was a quite sport. Martin was very reflective and and Stories about his time with Tull..Still have autograph Stage Pass..I'm 68 now lol
This is rock. In it s most real form..live and in your face ..back in the day..God bless those bands ..and rest those musicians who have met their maker..we enjoy rock s finest hour when we listen back to these greats..and what a time it was for those of us who were there to buy those first albums..no regrets there for great music..these bands influenced todays greats
Good guitar work, as ever. I love how Martin adapted his style for all the twists and turns of later years, from the straightish bluesy stuff of Stand Up and Benefit through to the proggy and folky elements that came after.
Saw them many times at the old Fillmore East. I was also at this show and in the first row. They were amazing and Glenn was a great bass player, stopped listening to them after Ian kicked him out.
And in fairness Sal as I have read in this or that article, apparently it was a group decision. I wasn't there but sure sounded massively uncool. A little suspicious of Ian maybe wanting to work Jeffrey Hammond into the band, as he brought an odd element on stage of appeal to Ian, plus he appears to be one of the Tull members that Ian appears to be close to, like right til now. But I could see having said fuck it at that point.
Ian Anderson es el máximo exponente de la influencia celta en el ámbito poético-musical de la música hecha a la medida de nosotros rocanroleros. Un genio sin par.
I love this song! I wish there were a video with this; original line up. Not that the one with the later guitarist and bass player isn't great; especially the one that goes into A New Day Yesterday. The original band did this really enboneratingly live.
You mean the original lineup - with Mick Abrahams on guitar, who left the band in 1968 - performed this song live? Which would have been two years before it was recorded for the Benefit album in 1970?
Don't worry about that fool peterlamborn... he ignorantly bitches about Martin and thinks that Mick Abrahams was performing this in '68 when it was not written, recorded, and performed until circa 1970 long after Abrahams' had left and had formed Blodwyn Pig.
Glenn and Clive tore it up live..'70.. Rip Glenn

I came down from the skies to cry you a song
You know it’s Clive Bunker the minute you hear him. One of a kind
I may be in the minority but I prefer the rhythm section of Glen Cornick and Clive....🎼🎵🎶🎤🎸🎸🥁

This actually was the first tour I saw of Tull. Fabulous. The Thick as a Brick was really incredible as well. I can’t call it. I loved both.
Clive Bunker and Glenn what a combo, spot on

Back when could throw his Voice with teeth and Power. Amazing energy at 23

Sadly Ian sacked Glenn because he partied too much. That was my problem at that age as well and it ruined many relationships....
He was Tull as much as Ian was..Ian resisted..too bad..lost chemistry after..then Clive left it was Ian Anderson Band then
@@Thundergod- he smoked Pot.. He wasn't a heavy partier ..Ian was a Dick back then Ego tripping
Ian sacked Glenn...too much of a party animal...awesome player for sure.
It was always Ian's band...he is the leader with an intellect the size of Everest@@davelogan676
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums.
Definitely and Teacher
Agree great song great album.
Yes sir!
Stand Up and Benefit are outstanding....
Nobody had more vibrato than Martin Barre. In concert his left hand moved like flapping butterfly wings. Most musical rock guitarist.
Met Martin and Barrie Barlow during Storm watch Tour.. Barlow was a quite sport. Martin was very reflective and and Stories about his time with Tull..Still have autograph Stage Pass..I'm 68 now lol

R.I.P. Glenn Cornick
I still have my 33 Vinyl LP Jethro Tull, "Benefit" Album with full inner and out sleeve. I bought it when the album was first released, in 1970.
mad jealousy here
Same do I.
The smile in your eyes has never been so sweet before

Ian had a powerful voice in '69-70 ..Then mainly Folklore ..then Popeye sounding by late 80s...Sad
Fantastic live, they could rock.
Saw them many times at the old Fillmore East. I was also at this show and in the first row. They were amazing and Glenn was a great bass player, stopped listening to them after Ian kicked him out.
You missed a lot of great music and performances. They just kept getting better and better

this must be the same one from Living in the past side three. Before the tremendous Dharma for one!
I really would have liked to have heard a live version of Sossity. What a shame.
I agree, Tim. Sossity, For Michael Collins, Benefit is a great album
Played it in 1997 when I saw them. IA told a couple in the front row to shut up at the end. Fair enough too.
@@gregthornton4209 Yes indeed.

If you're going to advertise a live recording, at least have live footage, just saying.

What year?
@Ron Maimon ...Very true!!, J.T. much better.
Zepplin was no big deal like Tull live.
