My earliest memories is of my moms Springer taking off and leaving my mom to bottle feed an entire litter. This was 28 years ago. Momma turned back up right when the puppies all went on their way to their new homes 😂
Thanks so much for the video! American over here but seems to cover it universally aside from the paperwork. I don’t comment much, but when I do it’s because of how helpful someone is so thanks!!
I actually have years of experience in dog breeding, but I love to watch this kind of video. I intend on becoming a breeder soon on my own, I want to raise pomeranians.
Help me Please if u have experience , i have too small dog and big one seems golden retriever how could my dog pregnant , or what should i do to get pregnant , i do have only small size dog in our region
@@BinyamAbrha-n1deither get another dog big enough for your big dog or a smaller dog for your small one, a big dog can get a small one pregnant but it’s not recommended, especially if they are completely different breeds
Only irresponsible pet owners don't get their animals spayed or neutered! 🤬 There will NEVER be a shortage of dogs and cats that need a loving home. The shelters are full of pets that need to be adopted. First of all, if you get your male dog or cat neutered your pet will be less likely to roam away from home when the females in the area go into heat in the surrounding area. An intact male will do just about anything to find a mate, including finding creative ways to escape from the house. Once free to roam, he risks injury from traffic and fights with other animals. Having your pet spayed or neutered will also help decrease the number of animals needing shelter. There are far too many animals out there without adequate loving homes to go to. Millions of cats and dogs end up in shelters every year. The majority of dogs euthanized every year are of the Pitbull breed. More than 359,000 dogs were euthanized in 2023. Meanwhile, 330,000 cats were also euthanized last year. Spaying your kitten when she is 3 to 6 months old will virtually eliminate the risk that she will develop mammary cancer when she's older. Additionally, spaying your kitten prevents many different infections and cancers that occur in the uterus and ovaries. Neutered dogs also don’t develop testicular cancer, which is common in older dogs who haven't been neutered. They also have a lower risk of pancreatic cancer, and their life expectancy is increased up to 18% longer. Animal Shelter Euthanasia Statistics: In animal shelters, 56% of dogs and 71% of cats admitted are euthanized. Every year, around 920,000 shelter animals get euthanized. Around 2.4 million animals euthanized in shelters were healthy and could’ve been saved and adopted. Out of all the animals that get euthanized in animal shelters every year, around 530,000 of them are cats and around 390,000 of them are dogs. Only 52% of U.S. animal shelters are no-kill shelters, but even no-kill shelters are not entirely no-kill; such shelters can still euthanize 10% of their population. So please stop contributing to the pet overpopulation and get your pets spayed and neutered. It's the responsible thing to do!
@@vickygalea1682 Thanks 😊. No, I didn't keep a pup this time around. But pips mum, grandma, and two further generations were in the family, as is one of the pups, so I'll get one from them in a few years 🙂 👍🏻
Ah, lovely! Slightly smaller than Springer Spaniels, so less poo if breeding them 😂. My friends have a wired haired Dachshund who is more terrier-like, but a great personality. Good luck with the breeding! 👍🏼
Hi there! Quick question, what did you feed them for worming that would pass to the pups before she gives birth? Thank you! We give her heartguard but we are not sure if that passes to the pups or not. researching now! Thank you so much for this video. Brilliant!
Hello! Good question....it was given to me by the vet. It looked like a milky liquid that was added to the bitches food for a few weeks prior to labour. Can't remember the name though, sorry!
Yeah we ended up giving her the heart guard and it gave her terrible diarrhea and she ended up giving birth on the 60th day (the day after we have it to her)We feel it may have been related. It definitely made he more tired after all of the pushing. Her tummy always is very bothered by it.
Hey - the unwritten rule is the owner of the stud dog either receives a stud fee (agreed between the two parties), or has their pick of the litter. The actual amount is decided between the parties and often - these days - agreed in a stud contract. Hope that helps!
Hi! How much time beyond the first 3 weeks (that they were born) did you need to dedicate per day for the pups? Just trying to get an idea of the amount of time, wondering if I still have time to workout or do errands, leave them alone for an hour for example? thank you so much Simon! Really helpful video here. Going to buy the book too.
Hi! Great question. Probably quite a bit of time, but that said, yes, it's more than fine to leave the puppies with their mum for an hour or so. You don't want to be housebound, or you'll go insane! :) Thanks for watching, and good luck!
We have a litter of Bull Masstif pups in Nova Scotia Canada and this video was very interesting. There is so much to having a litter. I now understand, why many people try it but end. There are so very many things and complications. There is a lot of time and work,

Hey! Great that you have a clear health check :) A good place to start (if you want to breed Jarvis as a working cocker) are Facebook groups for working cockers spaniels. The other angle is to get in contact with your local shoot (if applicable) to see if any bitches are coming into season anytime soon. One other angle is to list Jarvis as a cocker spaniel stud dog on Champdogs, and people will then get in touch with you if they are interested. Hope that helps and good luck!
Thank you so much! All the information I needed! It's not an issue at the moment, haven't even received the bitch puppy (yes, I'm an experienced dog owner), and I've found it extremely hard to find golden retriever puppies here in Sweden - and since I'm at home 24/7 , I feel a little inclined to get puppies in the future. Not for the money, really, I'd just enjoy it and make people happy.
Hi - no, they don't need to be together. In fact the male should be far away from the female during birth and after, as it will cause undue stress and she'll be overprotective. The more relaxed, the better...as is the case for any species and pregnancy!
@@mrheyes thank you for replying. Also I noticed the male is very protective of his female when I walk them around and snaps at other male dogs. Is there a way to correct that without being neutered or neutering can be the only solution? Thanks again?
Hi! Do you mean the pig rails inside the box? Those are to stop the mum squashing the pups at an early age. Some whelping boxes have them, some don't. I took them off after 3 weeks or so.
At our local vets. Some vets will dock legally, others won't. But first place to start is by asking the vet, or anyone else locally who has bred their dog 👍🏼

Stud fees in AZ United States is $1000 its wild... What is the typically charge if they don't get pregnant first meet? Do you typically pay another fee? How do you know when they are in heat and perfect timeframe
Do you mean earn? Depends on the price of the puppies and the going rate at the time. If the puppies are £900 for example and you have 8 puppies, then £900 x 8 = £7200. But remember, if you do things by the book (as recommended), then you'll incur around £3k in costs.
As it was the first one out, I kept it in an empty shoe box and then buried it in the garden later that morning. Thankfully the book tells you to prepare for such things!
