This is my 4th year in a row watching this video. Thank you!
Watch your video every year when I go to turn on my sprinklers. Thx for the easy to follow instructions 👍
Thanks. Just did mine today successfully thanks to your video. Called my sprinkler guy a couple of weeks ago to turn it on. He said "it would be some time in July before he could get to it." LOL. Needless to say, he's no longer my sprinkler guy. With this, and other videos on UA-cam, I may not need a sprinkler guy ever again.
3rd year of watching this video - thank you.
Use this video every spring 😂 Thank you!!
Best video on UA-cam! Always need to remind myslef how to do this every year
Thanks you so much for putting this together. In the past I was intimidated because I wasn't sure of the steps and was paying to have the lawn service company I use to air purge the system at the end of the season. A couple of min of my time with your video and I was good to go. Thanks for saving me money, but more importantly I really appreciate the education.
Im glad I watched your video because water shot out of the top of mine when I was turning it on; that didn't happen in the other videos I watched. If I had not have watched yours I would have freaked out lol.
Thank you for posting this. Got my system back and running again!
your a legend this one company wanted to charge me 95 dollars just so they could turn on something so simple
You’re lucky…here in Denver Colorado they charged us 110 last year….we’re going to try and do it ourselves this spring!
Thanks for your time and sharing your knowledge.
I'm saving $200.
I'd rather do it myself too, but if you can't you pay. They have vehicle costs and labor costs, etc. It's worth learning to do things like this when you can.
Love how your water main is like 6 inches inside that cover instead of 6 feet down like mine 😂 gotta love the frost line in Texas
Just used this video again! It was a life saver last year and a great reminder this season!
You just saved me some money! I could NOT get my system back on so I found this, I watched it, and it worked. THANK YOU!
Thank you for this easy instruction checklist. You really saved my lawn.
Thanks, I'm always confused. Eventually I get it going. I followed your instructions and got it done first time. Lake Conroe area, TX
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. It helped me a lot, brother! 🙌🏼💪🏼🙏🏻
Thanks for refreshing me on turning on my system, it has been a while since I have done one.
Just used this video to turn our sprinkler system back on for the summer. Thanks for the simple precise directions!
Awesome! I tried doing it before this video and my back flow preventer valve was shooting water out like a waterfall. I thought I would have to call a plumber, but after watching your video I was able to get the sprinklers up and running. Cannot thank you enough!!
Now we oppppeneh this one. Thank you!
You are a lifesaver. I was ready for that $400 service call because my backflow preventer kept leaking when I tried to turn on my sprinkler system this spring. After watching your video I turned the water on in the order you specified and it worked!!! Thanks so much.
Thank you

The part that was off for me was the part where you turned the red dial counterclockwise. I did that and it case the underground box to fill up with water.
You have a leak.
@@VingMedia Hm. really? Once I turned the red valve back to where it was everything worked fine.
Awesome. Just saved me 70 bucks
Do you have to open the two screws? Great video.
Thanks for sharing this is very helpful
Thank you this helped me
Great video and content, thanks so much!
Great video! but i have a question. I Have a Cable that is attached to that do i need to connect it for it to run properly or can i leav it dissconected?
Do you have a video for winterize?

I never winterize my system since I l live in the valley it’s always hot in the December
thank you brother
I have an orange metal lid similar to this by my valve on side of house but it says open/lock and when I turn it the lid won’t come up like it’s locked. My main city water is on and sprinklers are fairly new. Also basement irrigation valve is on. Could there be a valve under this small metal lid with a switch?
What happens if I turn my system back on like this and water starts coming out of part of my sprinkler system?
at 3:14 min mine, poppet drops and starts chugging water. I have replaced inside parts already. Any ideas?
I have a couple questions: Someone please help!
I live in Michigan, moved into this house 2 years ago and I’m a tiny woman trying to do a lot myself. I had it thoroughly inspected, but everything has gone wrong, and it’s cost me a ton of money! I think I jinxed it!
Regarding the sprinkler system, I had a company turn in my Rainbird sprinkler system in June, and didn’t realize it was never coming on. Duh! My grass is pathetic now, and I’m I’ve looked at You Tube videos because last month they wanted $130. to come and check it out when I’m supposed to have them turn it off next month! I have a feeling it’s something simple that they missed.
Anyway, I have that setup that you are dealing with; however, when I turn on the main valve, it bubbles on top, but there’s a leak in the piping. Can I just fix it with plumber’s putty or something? It’s at a connection. Also, I do t see a main water valve anywhere. Did you say it might be in the house?
It also has a faucet on the other pipe that is for the side of the house.
Thanks for the tip on covering that faucet up and heating it for the winter. I used to do that at my other house, but moved to a condo for a while, snd now I forgot about that. 💕💫
How do I winterize this?
Ok nice but what do I do if it froze? And when you open the top valve it sprays?
Time to call your plumber because there was still water in it and the thing froze.
How come every video I find, shows a vacuum breaker outside of the house but my irrigation system doesn't have this? All I have is a main shutoff inside my house and a connection on the outside to hook an airline to, for blowing the lines out for winter.
You may want to look at your local codes. Most places require a vacuum breaker or backflow prevention device. In colder locations, this maybe located indoors since you mentioned that you have an airline to blow out the lines. If this is located indoors, you do not have to winterize the vacuum breaker. This video shows the common installation in warmer climates or southern US states.
@@VingMedia The guy who installed it used check valves in the lines
@@88Petry A check valve can be used. It is also a backflow preventer device as it only allows water to go one way. Again, you may want to look at your local codes for what they require.
I can’t find any of these in my backyard 😭 I don’t know how to do it
where is the sprinkler system? do i have to go outside?
@Ving Media can i do the same thing with a Rachio system? it looks similar
Yes you can
@@VingMedia thanks
@@VingMedia ya nothing work for me water went everywhere(outside) i will wait it out. i have the Zurn Wilikins 720A
@@berto70593 you have a leak
@@VingMedia no its not a leak. water only came out when i turn the water on. its like one of the Stoppers were not stopping. i may have to get a new 720A
If you winterize your system there is no need for insulation or heat tape....
That heat tape cost me $5 cause I got it cheap. and I had it lying around. Your bottom valve can still crack. That’s why it’s there. There are many other things you can do like add a drain. This is just an example. This video is not meant for upgrading or changing the system when it was installed by the original builder.
Yeah, my system has a pipe plug that drains the water out of this area. I just remove it and tape it to the pipe for winterization. In the spring, I just reinstall the plug.
Thank you
