I love your content. I got my BA in Philosophy at 62. Now at 66, I will do my Masters in February 2025 by distance learning. You have inspired me. Have a lovely birthday Cait x
Thank you for making this video. I found so much myself in your points. I have a thriving business. I am a part time doctoral student. I’m 37. I hold a full time instructor role at a college. I also have a 5 year old. I’ve felt like I was the only one who takes on this much, until I found your channel.
Thank you for this video, Cait! I'll be starting a second Bachelor's degree part-time in October at the age of 35 while also doing a full-time job. Finding your channel has been such an inspiration. I am overly excited to start studying again and I'm sure it will be a lot different than the first time around, but at the same time I'm nervous about romanticising too much. Your video just calmed my nerves a little more and I wanted to thank you for that. Please keep doing the content you want to do, because it's beautiful and honest and inspiring.
All the best for your bachelor's degree Daniela! I'm sure it will go really well and thank you so much for your kind words here ❤ the fact that you are inspired by this content, inspires me! I hope we will continue to inspire each other ☺
Well all of your hard work behind the scenes is very much appreciated by all the Accepted Society members! The new platform has transformed everything and I love being able to work and socialise with people from around the world from home (or the library), I think growing up a lot of us thought that, like our parents, we would get a job after university and that would be our job for life and we would get our home for life (etc etc), and it's certainly not been quite like that for me. I'm so enjoying coming along with you on your journey and although social media is so often fake, I can confirm having met you in person that your loveliness is very real.
Thank you so much for these kind words Jen! It's been such an honour to meet you through Accepted and can't wait to see how your extraordinary journey continues ☺
As a quiet watcher of your videos, Cait, you are an inspiration. I am just preparing for my second year studying for my degree in English Literature and like you trying to juggle work and study as a mature student can be daunting but exciting as a new study year begins.
Thank you for sharing your heart and your wisdom with us. I loved this video so much. You lead with such grace and integrity. It’s also beautiful to witness you name and own powerfully your purpose for this space and how you want to steward your platform. It’s coming through so so clearly. You’re the real deal friend ❤
Khalia you are the embodiment of kindness ❤ thank you so much for your wonderful and inspiring words! I feel very lucky to have a friend like you in my corner
These types of videos are so important. Thank you for taking the time to make this. Yes, we can juggle; we are capable, but it can be a struggle. Throwing others' needs into the mix (family, dependents, friends, etc.) can tip it all over the edge so quickly. I worked throughout my Masters while caring for the needs of dependents. I'm nearly at the end of my PhD now, and the family knows when to leave me be, ha! It's also essential to do what we must to to feel fulfilled.
Thanks for this, Kate. I'm about to start on my coursework this evening, and it helped to remind myself that I want to enjoy the journey of my degree. It's not all about the end result: being a student is pretty great sometimes. : )
I cannot imagine anyone mistaking you for a productivity influencer. I cannot stand channels that spend their time trying to get people to squeeze more and more into their day. I am not sure how people enjoy themselves living a life like that. I would rather slow down and just spend quality time on the few things I love and absorb their beauty even if that means forgoing some other things. I am like you and want to just spend my time reading history, literature, classics and art history. I was getting frustrated not being able to fit it all in (and I don't have to work) so had to come up with a plan. I spend my weekdays on my PhD then for the evenings I read for pleasure. I group my other interests into categories so for one month in the evenings I might just focus on Greek mythology and general fiction. The next month classical fiction (e.g., Charles Dickens, Brontë sisters etc) and young adult then the next month art history and poetry/play/short stories then I go back to Greek mythology etc. For me this makes it all less overwhelming trying to fit everything in each week. Sundays is my day in the garden and cooking something different. I also plan something on my Bucket List e.g., hot air ballooning. I don't want to rush and jam pack everything in but want to fit things in whereby I can enjoy each thing slowly and with purpose; learn and enjoy. I have been lucky in a way through some bad luck and was able to retire early so since then I have done multiple degrees that has allowed me to study the things that interest me. But I want to learn more and more and more in these areas lol Doing a PhD makes it hard because it is so time consuming. I am trying to find this balance and it is not easy but I am getting there.
Thank you Nicole, I think we are always trying to find that balance and that is the key isn't it? It takes time and it will likely change over time but I'm so happy to hear you taking life slowly and enjoying the things that make you so happy :)
I’m staring my PhD at 40 after a career change as well. While I feel okay at the moment I know I’ll run into the imposter syndrome later. Oh and with a family btw! We can do this!!!
I’ll be running two admissions programmes through Accepted Society - the first will be a workshop on 28 September and the second will be a 12 week intensive applications course which includes reviews of documents

Thank you so much! I think it’s so powerful to see so many of us returning to study! Good luck with your Masters

Completely agree! We often forget to take ourselves and our needs into the equation

I love this! Being a student is so wonderful (especially now that I feel I’m able to appreciate it more)

Yes we can! So thrilled to see more people returning to academia 🫶🏻
Do you still accept application review requests ?
I’ll be running two admissions programmes through Accepted Society - the first will be a workshop on 28 September and the second will be a 12 week intensive applications course which includes reviews of documents
So you’re not gonna do a full time PhD? It’s gonna be part time and work full time?
Still figuring that out but I think I want to do a full time PhD and will need to figure out how that looks with my job
love listening to your insights! this was refreshing as i often feel like i am on a different path than a lot of my peers. thank you 🤍
Yes! I felt similarly. Hii Lauren 😊
I love that about Accepted - we're all on different paths but we're all in it together ❤ thank you for your lovely comment
