The movement is being fueled by an angry core of extremists and anti-government activists who've found ways of operating outside of official watchdog scrutiny. ‘.50 Caliber Militia’ reveals an increasingly well-armed group with weapons that were never-designed or intended for civilian use, as well as the underground network of dealers and extremists who trades them. One such weapon is the titular .50 Caliber, which can’t be traced, pierces armor and is capable of destroying tanks and helicopters at a range of nearly one and a half miles. Watch as a leader of the Michigan Militia visits the home of convicted felon and gun dealer Bob Stewart as he prepares to go on trial for dispensing hundreds of unregistered kit versions of his homemade .50 Caliber.

You know why right? Because they are expensive as hell. Only people that work for a living and or have a lot to lose own these mostly. It’s not low life’s that have these. And there really isn’t an easy way to hide your activities if you plan a crime with these. Mostly it’s the cost and what that does for which class of people will have them.

Not that the argument on hunting makes any more sense. Since a hunting round 30/30 or 30/06 or even the 308 is far larger then the 223 in the AR 15 platform. Which does not stand for automatic it’s the brand armalite. You would think everyone would know that by now but people still think these rifles are military grade automatic rifles. No soldier would take a civilian AR into battle not if he planned on coming out.
You can do the same shot with a 30-06 at 300 yards in DC. You can do it at 100 yrds with a 22L rifle. A sniper is a sniper. They are good at what they do. A short shot or s long shot. It’s still a sniper shot

@sugarpuddin folks started competitions and matches using the big actions for 1000 yds. They have some good ones in Utah. This was done since this documentary was made, almost 3 decades ago. It's very popular in areas where you have the land to do it. That's why it seems so odd to east coast shooters and pundits.

These reporters don't seem to know that old time muzzle loading muskets were also made in .50 caliber.
These people, particularly the veterans with actual combat experience, could be potent 5th Columnists in the event of a military invasion by a hostile foreign power. Japan took Manchuria in 1931, Germany took Poland in six weeks in 1939 and France in about eight weeks in 1940. Don't forget Belgium in 1914, took a few days for the German Army to march through. October 7th of this year in Israel, Hamas went on a rampage. And all the criminal cartels that have infiltrated in here. Unarmed/disarmed societies are just food on the table to the bad guys. Do not think it cannot happen here. But these people do not possess the weaponry or the manpower to overthrow the federal government.

Just remember the 12 million deer hunters in the USA are actually hand raised snipers that have more accurate rifles than a .50. Another fun fact is those .50 cal BMG rifles are anti material rifles that destroy soft targets like unarmored trucks, cars, radars, aircraft on the ground since they don't have the accuracy of real sniper rifles. Yes they can be used in a sniper mode but there are much better rifles for that with better range!
