I like to think that, instead of the Great Zapfish being kidnapped, this time it's Judd and/or Li'l Judd who's kidnapped. Their DNA is used to modify the octos into mammals, which is why the furry octos have the same color palette as the Judds, and why there's blueprints and such of the Judds in the trailer. Apart from their pictures on the research papers, neither Judd nor Li'l Judd is shown in the trailer because they've been taken.
That would explain why the squidbeak Splatoon is all the way out in the Splatlands. They’ve been searching for Judd! We probably discover the mammal stuff on the way. This theory could be confirmed if we see footage of Lil Judd as the sole turf war judge in this game, like how Judd was in Splat 1. Lil Judd finally gets his dream of being the judge
It would probably have to be only one of the Judd's unless there is someone new to decide the turf war result, Since splatoon likes to keep the feeling or a moving world. I like this theory a lot!
my theory is that octavio will probably be an early game boss, and then help you after you beat him. they wouldn't just give him a cool mech for nothing!
@Otneimica Or he immediately discovers that his army has been enslaved, he tries to communicate with the squidbeak Splatoon to ask for help because that's his only chance, and their captain tells them to cooperate. But Callie fails to understand what the captain said and tells you to defeat DJ Octavio instead.
I really enjoyed your talk about the octoling-inkling society integration, that would be an interesting plot point and I honestly hope that's what the devs are going towards with Splatsville and Splatoon's future worldbuilding. The space travel idea is also SUPER exciting to me! Mammalians sounds sort of alien but I'm not too sure. (Also thanks for the shoutout!)
In Japanese (Or at least the game files? Don't remember) the octarians are called Takoliens, and hence the ufo motif. I think it might just be consistency in thst regard.
Finally someone who say dev's or developers instead of just.. "Nintendo" You know actually giving the credit to the correct people instead of just the publisher. Also I'm a huge fan of your channel, on a different account tho, but like hi lol
Some stuff that I want in Splatoon 3 would be: More cutscenes. Splatoon 2 did this a bit, especially with Octo expansion. The Octo expansion cutscenes look beautiful and I'd love to see more of that in the next game. A bit of a serious tone. Nothing like "Callie dies and Marie is sad for the rest of the series", but more like growing up and stepping down, realizing mistakes and seeing yourself get better and stronger. This could work pretty well with Captain Three and Craig Cuttlefish, as well as New Agent 3. Another "No side is really evil, we just have different perspective." moral in the story. Octavio did this a small bit, but he still talked like he had an evil heart. With Tartar, I loved how he isn't bad to the...motherboard...but he genuinely thought he was helping the world as well as giving meaning and immortality to test subjects who've proven their worth. Another antagonist like that would be great. Of course we're all gonna love the game, even if the plot is "humans went to the moon and devolved into monkeys bc of radio waves from a bear haha". It will always have the same charm and creativity. Y'all ready for the return of the mammalians?
A “growing and changing” or “growing up and stepping down” theme would be really moving and emotional. I can definitely see a “growing up and stepping down” theme, especially with the Squid Sisters, Craig and Agent 3, now the new captain
Something that people seem to forget is that there are replicas of a lot of human artifacts located in China, as the Chinese government wants to make sure that the people there don't feel that they need to go explore the world. There is a replica of the Eiffel Tower there, among other things. Plus, China as a country is coastal, and right near the ring of fire, so there's a possibility that there are Hydrothermal vents nearby. I think Splatsville is in, or around, China.
I am literally so excited for Splatoon 3’s story mode. I have so many memories of playing Splatoon 1’s story mode with my Dad after church. The story mode was actually my favorite part of the game. I just loved the characters as well as the aesthetic. When I got my hands on Splatoon 2, it’s story mode was kind of disappointing to me. It was pretty much the same as the original story mode. However, it felt like it was missing something. It felt really empty if that makes sense. After watching the trailer for Splatoon 3’s single player campaign, I have my hopes up. Hopefully it’s good. :)
especially with Splatoon 2's end boss compared to the original- the difficultly was much higher in Splatoon 1's boss and the it felt more like an accomplishment to beat imo
please tell me u got to play octo expansion, though! it sucks that it took an extra $20 to actually get an excellent and unique solo mode but octo expansion def feels like it's what splatoon 2's story mode SHOULD have been. It's so amazing and never gets boring imo.
@@emoscreamhoe I did get Octo Expansion and I absolutely loved it! The DLC was definitely worth it however, I still kind of wanted that experience with the regular single player. Especially since the single player was what made me fall in love with the game in the first place.
splatoon 2 could've been way better, like actually make more use of brainwashed Callie is a proper villain to act as a red herring to then blidnside us with DJ Octavia returning, have us actually FIGHT her.
18:19 there is one other time English was spoken in Splatoon. In the Octo expansion, just before you get blended, if you play the audio in reverse, there is a new years countdown in full English.
@@industrialgradetacos reversing the audio that plays as the blender is constructed in octo expansion shows that the audio is of people counting down from ten in english.
39:54 my thoughts: a dramatic cutscene reveals a human and them being evil in some way, and when the inkling charges in to shoot them the human just stands there, wipes the ink from their face and pulls out a real Glock. Aaand there goes new agent 3.
If humans do come back, I hope they don't look like modern day humans. If Squids evolved to be humanoid, and Salmons evolved into Salmonids, then humans should also look vastly different. Maybe they've evolved to survive in Space, leading to an interesting scenario where Inklings/Octolings are more like modern day humans than the space humans are.
Well, the humans in the splatoon universe fight 5 world wars, that in the final they launch a bomb that can melt almost all the ice in one of the poles. And we know nothing about the tech of the human, that is why I think that humans are probably still alive, probably most of the humans that are probably still alive are for the neutral countries from the last war, going to Mars, Europe (moon of Jupiter), or in a space station that are mining asteroid for living.
during the waiting chat i asked if anyone has realized the voice counting down (supposedly the rocket) rassicas replied with "everyone and their mother has" and now after watching i cant believe how brilliant that reply was lol. also great vid rassicas!
in a way, i think that humans would be like, a great design for an alien species from an inkling's point of view, just like we made our aliens resemble us and have an humanoid shape but also be extremely different from us
that would be so cool!!! like the game's like "ayo bro aliens are coming" and we're getting super hyped up, but then... it's *us.* on that note, though, the inklings (or at least cap'n cuttlefish) know what humans look like
@@Lavamario1 it’d be really cool (if that did happen) that when you find them they seem terrified but perhaps not violent. Also according to some art of the professor holding Judd, humanity has more realistic proportions (at 21:35) compared to inklings and octolings, that would make the humans look more alien to them. Keep in mind, humans did try to go to space to avoid the floods.
Here’s a crackpot theory I have: If “Mr Grizz” is a mortal life form born during the mollusk era, perhaps he heard of how bears are mythical, dangerous creatures to salmonids so he based his company and persona around bear imagery. Later he finds The Ruins of Arc Polaris and finds evidence that bears actually existed and were mammals just like the Judds. He then decides he wants to recreate bears and bring them back to make salmonid hunting more efficient. The way he does this is by either finding bear DNA in the ruins or taking it from Judd and/or Lil’ Judd and his test subjects are the Octarian troopers because he figures nobody on the surface (aka the people providing him with money) would notice octarians going missing and arousing suspicion.
I absolutely agree with that idea, but maty I add some of my headcannon: what if the golden eggs are the catalyst for the dna transfer stuff? We know that salmonids appear in various shapes that don't even look like the same species most of the times, but other than the octarians whose differences can be explained by the whole severed tentacle thing, they are not really explained. In my opinion it is unlikely that they are all different species, so they likely all reproduce using golden eggs. My theory is that the eggs are non-tradeable because they are fertilised salmonid spawn, and they hatch into various different shapes because their dna adapts to outside triggers. Heck, maybe the salmon ids only look like salmon because some golden eggs came into contact with salmon dna and absorbed it. Anyways, it would then seem logical to me that a capable scientist at grizzco could channel that dna-changing part of golden eggs, perhaps splice it with some mammal dna and BAM: bear mutagens. A bear-worshippers best friend. Maybe mr grizz was the first to mutate himself and then started the whole "grand offense to all salmonids" Lastly, the rapid mutation idea could maybe explain the origins of the inklings as well. Maybe one attempt to preserve humans was to store the dna, and send it into space to find a new habitable planet to grow new humans? However, that rocket never went off, and the original DNA stayed behind causing marine life, most notably cephalopod which are known to rapidly change their own genome, to absorb it and become human-like. The new human-fish would then eventually stabilize into a normal population, but some species, the salmonids for example, evolved to harness the dna absorbing power, spawing the race of fishy, adaptable bioweapons we know and love, while being the last reliable source of mutagens.
@@josevst7274 I would also like to add to this that embryo's at the earliest stages of development are identical between all vertebrates, so he could be trying to obtain newly born embryo's to try to reverse engineer them into bears, or at least a bear like form (possibly resulting in the fur goop)
You know I would like it if Octarians are not the only one "Mammalized" (Feel free to come up with a better word) Imagine you see a lot of Octarian soldiers and suddenly you see Inklings Jellyfish and other sea creatures being part of the enemy army. Two things why I like the idea. One bit would make whoever in charge a clear threat, and the other thing which would make a good comeuppance with Inklings/Octolings helping Mr Grizz getting the eggs in the first place.
Agreed! I think fighting a jelly or squid-mammal creature as well would be crazy, (including just fighting jellies in general!) and it could be great at making cool enemy variety, and as you said, make the mammal (infection?) Be more of a threat to them.
I would really like for Splatoon 3 to be the finale of the octarian vs inkling story, and have Octavio and the Inklings settle their differences and tackle this new fuzzy ooze together. Then in later games or dlc they can really focus on other enemies and aspects of the splatoon world
17:35 My theory: whoever Mr. Grizz is knows about bears. And if they're all about gaining golden eggs from the Salmonids, then why not recreate/revive their "legendary adversary?"
I think the count down being stuck at 3 is symbolic to humans not being able to leave earth and thus going extinct. So I don't think it'll be human aliens at least, but I don't have a clue what it could be lol. As well as, ya know, the count down is at 3, Splatoon 3, yeah.
Even better: At first it's revealed that he's a bear but then there's a double twist that's it's actually an animatronic and he's like a tiny shrimp or something that just really like's bears and really wants to be one.
What if, when ex-agent 3 (current captain) is introduced, the switch checks for octo expansion data, and uses the customization data from there to generate the look of the new captain? Thought it might be a nifty piece of continuity within each player's game, and a little bonus for playing the previous game.
That would be a good idea, but I kind of hope it's optional for it to be your splatoon 2 agent 3 because some people might want to make it different (like me)
I think it’s cool, but I also hope it lets us pick since I accidentally made my agent 3 a girl, as well as their gonna have to put in some way to choose agent 3’s features since some people won’t have had octo expanison.
I personally believe that the new band members that look like salmonlings are just a grey skinned inkling and a yellow perch!! The front one seems to have regular inkling tentacles and a mask, and other bands have subtly implied species by the patterns in their hair and I think the one in the back matches up pretty closely to the patterns of yellow perches!!
At the end of the day, Splatoon is a story about the legacy of humanity. In celebration of it, in mourning of it, in its repetition, in our recovery from it, and how its inheritance is not a damnation to the same fate. As long as it serves a thematic purpose well, I'll happily forgive if there's some inconsistencies or whatever with the Deep Lore. If there were mammals all along on or near earth in the mollusc era, does that inherently undermine the story? I think it can be used very effectively to make good, satisfying points, if that's the path that the devs choose. I can't agree more that this game has an undeniable Splatoon 1 feeling to it, and that that's a great thing. Splat1 was bold, brash, and messy, with a distinct feeling that this is happening because people wanted it to happen in the moment because of being people and all the things that implies. Impromptu battles in highway underpasses, and around people's homes; places where People are to do People things. Contrast that with splatoon 2 that feels like an incredibly intentional constructed environment with even regulation and a general sense of a lot of 'sports science'. Of course there's some level of humanity in that too, but it's an environment much more prone to alienation from personal stories and people's lives; its shifted to focus on the Performance over the Behaviour in a very capitalistic way. I mean hell, talking about the special weapons, just seeing them being explosive and powerful again rather than "pretty likely to leave you in a worse situation unless you know exactly what you're doing" is a step in splat1's direction. The new setting that's literally, physically moved away from inkopolis' control over turf war ends up looking very much like it's in the same spiritual direction as inkopolis' beginnings with modern turf war - people exhibiting behaviour in activities that first and foremost affirm their humanity again. From where I stand, splat3 absolutely looks to be in prime position to live up to its promise. Beyond design decisions, it's also not under the pressure of being a console seller to have a relatively rushed launch, and the quality of what we've seen speaks to the time that's been afforded the developers to work on this. Personally, the time pressure is what I chalk splat2's kinda underwhelming basegame singleplayer campaign [and Especially the reused-but-worse final boss] up to. So I'm very optimistic about the future of Splatoon.
maybe the rocket was planning to launch that mammal goo across the land and as the game progresses, the sense of urgency rises as you learn what would happen if it actually launched. Instead, as a player, you might have to stop it from launching.
@@certifiedmonsterfucker wow, I'm not sure if I heard what happened before writing my old comment, but I think I was mainly thinking of the octo expansion. I hadn't played the game yet. XD. Who knows tho? I certainly don't.
Came back to this after the game came out, spoilers: "... Of course I'm worried about the story having something as stupid as sentient space bears, you will never hear the end of it from me if that happens..." And I am waiting to see what you do for your first post-launch theory video diligently.
What if someone(maybe grizzco idk cuz he’s the only possible antagonist so far)wants to bring mammals back to take them with the rocket to another planet to restart “life” somewhere else?, which is why Alterna is called alterna, short for Alternative, an alternative to start life again lol
All of this is so interesting! While I’m kinda disappointed we’re fighting Octarians again, there’s a lot they can still do with this dynamic. There’s always the chance that the threat of the game isn’t actually an intelligent individual/ group, and is instead just a chaotic force for us to stop. Maybe the fuzzy ink turning Octarians into weird mammal monsters is just some kind of freak accident. Even in a world with weird squid people, I think the developers know better than to introduce straight up talking animals. I actually made a video about what I think might happen, and while I do think it’s possible the mammals have a connection to space, that doesn’t mean the mammals themselves are actually malicious. As much as I want a brand new villain, I also like the idea of having to fix humanity’s mistakes and dealing with the messes they left behind. Also I totally know what you mean about the Splat 1 vibes. Might just be the hype speaking but I really feel like we’re gonna fall in love with splatoon all over again
@@bessieburnet9816 I mean, I agree it would be difficult to find a replacement (there are only so many things that can produce and be killed by colored liquid, after all), but feel like we should be past the point of calling them the "evil Octarian army." We've been shown that Octarians have their own society and customs, and we've even played as one. It just feels like a step backwards after Octo Expansion. I hope we at least get a good explanation for why Squidbeak is fighting them again. I'm hopeful since it looks like Octavio is not the final boss, but we'll just have to wait and see
I feel like the emphasis on the rocket and the countdown at the end of the trailer is hinting more towards the idea that at least one major party in the story is going to be interested in going to space for whatever reason, not the other way around with something like space bears or humans... at least I hope anyway
I know this doesn't have anything to do with this and I don't have a theory attached to it but in one of the sunken scrolls shows that inklings have tried looking for intelligent life in space. Anyone can theorize with this because I have nothing
You’re saying you would prefer humans in the game over bears? That… feels backwards to me, imo. Bears have been hinted for a LONG time now, and I am personally not put off by it at all. Humans, though? That kinda terrifies me. I dunno, I feel like introducing living humans would absolutely wreck the theme of Splatoon as a whole. I am a bit confused, since you have made this exact same argument for why you do not want bears. I hear what you are saying about mammals in general, though. They should stay dead, harsh as that sounds. Having mammals to an extensive degree (excluding MAYYBE marine ones) would kinda ruin Splatoon’s entire identity. That said, I think it is BECAUSE of that theme is why this “Return of the Mammalians” is a really fun and interesting concept for the story mode, imo. Especially since it seems to be mutating the Octarians malevolently, making it clear that the antagonist’s goal is not just to “restore” mammals, but to subjugate the non-mammals. I dunno, it just seems neat to me. Tbh, we should be wary of expecting TOO much from Splatoon’s story. While it’s LORE is fascinating, it plays VERY fast and loose when it comes to present-day storytelling. And to clarify on the bear thing: I have always strongly disagreed on your position on Grizz’s identity. I have always speculated that he was either literally a bear (hence why he never shows his face) or perhaps a whale or something. I strongly doubted it was an Inkling, as we know that even adult Inklings are relatively carefree to the point where on wonders how anything gets done in Inkopolis. That said, I am only okay with bears as long as Grizz is UNIQUE by being a bear. While possible, the idea of a bunch of em showing up in a space shuttle is a little off-putting. Though that would explain why we only ever communicated to Grizzco by radio. Perhaps Grizz himself isn’t on the planet yet. Also, story and lore aside: is Salmon Run going to be a thing still? Purely gameplay-wise, it was fun, and I’d be disappointed if it doesn’t return. Given this is Nintendo, they won’t toss it simply because it doesn’t make sense story-wise. That’s simply their company-wide game design philosophy: gameplay > story cohesion (this is exactly why we still get Museum despite it being in Inkopolis, or even why Hyrule’s geography changes drastically throughout iterations: they won’t let story details get in the way of gameplay elements). Still, I am a little worried.
What seems most logical, is that Grizzco alone is either a mammal, OR he’s not a mammal and he kidnapped Judd and Judd Jr. because they both are famous mammals and well the only ones (as of now known) and uses them for some sort of experiment with the octarions to get control over them?? Could be why the fur really resembles Judd’s. But why Grizz is doing this? Hell as if I know
What if humans make a temporary comeback in like the final levels of the story mode as failed attempts by Grizz to bring back humanity by remaking human DNA with samples of DNA from Judd and the evolved sea creatures, of which are essentially disfigured, half-brained, violent creatures that act as new enemies that only show up in the final levels (which could be some massive lab where he experimented with DNA and shit)
Nah, humans should return. Grizz being a bear would be boring and make no sense. And splatoons identity would not even be touched if mammals were to return, thats just nonsense
I had forgotten about this until Mememan replied. Where the heck did I get the free time to write this essay? And why did I choose to use it to write this essay? I know I do this semi-regularly, but god damn, where do I pull all those words from?
30:50 damn it's crazy looking back that these masks ended up teasing Deep Cut. I guess Deep Cut will have some sort of influence on the story after all?
What if there's two story modes? One where you play as an Inkling, with Captain 3 and the Squid Sisters, and the other an Octoling with Agent 8 and Off the Hook? The Inkling side is about discovering the mysteries of the mammalians, while the Octoling side is about rescuing Octarians and healing them to get rid of the fur! ... Maybe?
I started playing the single player campaign and I noticed that the moai statues in alterna appear to be 3D printed. Some of the statues aren’t complete, and there’s a structure on the inside similar to the structure inside of a 3D printed object
My theory is that since it is specified we have a *juvenile* salmonid, I'm thinking the relationship between Agent 3 and Little Buddy is unique, not that every Inkling/Octoling has a young salmonid companion. I think maybe the new Agent 3 found the young salmonid alone or something and decided not to murder a baby, and they decided to stick together? Like two siblings or something. I could see it being like an older sibling calling the much younger one Little Buddy. I don't think we're gonna see other players' Little Buddies in multiplayer modes. also I really want to see Agent 8 working in a weapons shop pls and 20:44 pigeons and ducks aren't mammals. they're birds. which evolved from dinosaurs?? birds are much closer to reptiles than mammals
If they do end up adding Salmonoids (please no. Give us Anenomes), I think it'll be through unnatural means. Specifically through the Fuzzy Ink. they'd make it so only Salmonoids that have consumed large quanities of mamalian ink could turn into Salmonlings. Again, I hope that doesnt happen, I really want anenomes if we have to get a new playable race xD
Yeah even if the game’s out now, I think fitting the pattern of every entry adding 1 new playable species Though personally I’d go with nudibranchs, like Flow, but that’s just because I like nudibranchs more than anemones
crazy good video as always , looking forward to seeing what other ideas for videos this trailer gave you! also, I really enjoy longer videos like this, because even if they take longer, they’re so worth it to finally watch. Keep up the good work, Ki!!
I think that Mr. Grizz would be most interesting if he was an inkling. We haven't had anything remotely close to a villainous inkling yet, so him being one would be really cool
Okay but here me out… what if mr Grizz is a WATER bear. Think about it, water bears (tardigrades) are known for being CRAZY tough to kill, even being able to survive space. So what if Mr grizz is a water bear who got on the spaceship shuttle with the bears, but it crashed and he was pretty much the only survivor. So for some plot reason he decided to bring humans back and he needs golden eggs as fuel or whatever and maybe he’s trying to recreate mammals by using octarians. All under the guise of a slightly shifty looking company that takes child labor laws as more of a suggestion than an actual law. I mean, I doubt the bear/water bear pun still works in Japanese, but I think it’s a reasonable twist the story would have.
I didn't know people were expecting salmonlings at any point but boy am I happy it didn't happen. I always thoughthought that it would make sense to add an ink/octoling adjacent creature for the salmonids, but in my mind that would have been an old-timey helmeted diving suit with a golden egg wired into the head and moving with hydraulic ink or something.
30:48 that mask low-key looks like the head of Taranza from the kirby game: Kirby Triple Deluxe. That, combined with the new Kirby game coming out, makes me sort of loosely consider: what if the Kirby and Splatoon worlds were somehow distantly connected. I highly doubt this but it would be kind of funny.
31:00 So... about the masks, we now know that they are from Deep Cut, soo... YA BOI BIG MAN IS CONFIRMED AS A CHARACTER IN THE CAMPAIN LETS GOOOOO (or maybe just characters that talk with radios or something like Off The Hook during most of Octo Expansion and the Squid Sisters in Splat1 campain, but lets be optimistic, imagine agent like, idk, 11 Big Man)
I think whoever Mr.Grizz /the new villain turns out to be, I think they will act as a mirror to new agent 3. possibly some sort of octarian salvager that went rouge after finding DNA research of mammals. finding this and the many other artifacts of humans have driven them to become obsessed with the past, and now are using every means they have of trying to recreate the past, regardless of the others they are experimenting on. all of this to contrast the player character's relationship with the salmonid buddy, and likely octarians as well, as they unite to protect their peoples and the people they care about
My hope is that there are 2 hubs: splatsville and inkopolis. Inkopolis only plays old maps and splatsville only plays inkopolis maps. Theres definitely some issues with this but Id love to know what you think.
So is it just me or did the countdown sound slightly British? Combined with your theory on humanity finding the disk and returning, do you think it could be like humanity continuing their imperialist values and trying to retake the earth?
What?? This is the most massive leap in logic ever A sort of British voice doesn't mean that the new British empire is coming to overtake the world or whatever
@@volnartheunforgiving3952 the British empire was the biggest empire of the world, and humanity as a whole is rather imperialistic in the fact we want to constantly expand our influence and belief. We are even prepping now to do it with space travel. As first world countries (or more specifically NATO due to their funding and technological edge) would likely wish to further expand humanity to the stars, and as the common tongue/standard language of NATO is English, it would not be out of the question to assume that English (or a variant of it)would have become the primary language in the case that my theory had actually happened. Not too far of a stretch with my logic.
@@rafeyos3396 No? This is absolutely ridiculous. British accents don't somehow imply a long-gone empire. They don't imply anything. They imply that the person who recorded that countdown is British.
@@volnartheunforgiving3952 you are missing my point here. The voice is British, a country who speaks English. English is the standard language of NATO. On top of that, Britain is part of NATO. NATO is one of the few organizations that would have the power, funding, and reason to expand to the stars and further spread influence. Now lets look back into history to understand the human mentality of expanding one’s ideological beliefs. The last main, clear cut definition of an empire being an empire was Britain, which I believe “fell apart” in the late 40’s after WW2. Even if this is wrong, they were still classified as an empire during the events of the First World War. In the early 20th century, much of the world was ruled by empires, and as we go further back in time, we see more and more of them as opposed to modern forms of government we know today. Most of these empires would fall apart due to wars, and have new ones rise in their place. Now to splatoon lore. It is stated relatively clearly that war and climate change was the two things that decimated modern human society. Those who survived (that we know of at least) went to the domes. Seeing as what the backstory of the final boss of 3 is, I would feel relatively safe in saying humanity went to the stars as well. Those who survive that would want to expand their species territory and culture in order to survive. However a singular planet has only so much space, the same with a solar system or space station. On top of this, earth would likely be viewed in the same way the romans viewed what is now modern day Israel. A holy land that was rightfully theirs and theirs alone. Going back to NATO likely being one of the only groups to be capable of managing to send inhabitants to the stars, Britain being part of NATO, english being the official language of NATO, and the simple fact that humanity at its core seeks to conquer whatever it may lay its hands upon, it would not be out of the question that descendants of humanity who were sent to the stars by NATO would seek to reclaim earth.
fun fact: the reason it's named alterna is because toby Fucking fox suggested the homestuck world name to a nintendo employee as a joke and the employee actually liked it. yeah
Finished the story mode, came back here. One word AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This was a lot of nooks and crannies that were delightful to notice. Thank you so much for a great scope and overview of what we know so far about Splat 3.
The way that the rocket seems to be stuck and not launched, it would seem like the opposing force isn't coming FROM space, but trying to go to space, especially since the rocket is loaded with samonid eggs. regardless what the eggs are being used for they wouldn't have existed at the time of the rockets construction. So the question is why didn't it launch originally and what does that mean for the people who were leaving. Well one thing I'd personally assume is that there are more domes across the world, and therefore there should also be more space stations across the world. So lets say that perhaps some humans successfully launched, some were left behind, and in this region in particular, one of the rockets failed to launch. Now imagine that the Domes were plan A, the goal to preserve human society would be more than just living in the domes, you'd attempt to preserve the culture, the architecture, the traditions, and even the animals that are iconic and central to human life. Now since these landmarks are like amusement park reproductions, it might be assumed that not all preserved animal species were entirely... natural. Could they be bears left behind, sure. Could they be some other sea creature who found the most preserved aspects of mammalian culture and is spiting the inklings for their dominance, maybe. Could it be some nightmarish clone experiment, possibly. Could they be a third, even eviler Judd... or perhaps... the REAL Judd. I realize its just as easy to say that whatever left has landed again for any number of reasons, but the haunting nature of the paused countdown just makes me think about a group of humans in a last ditch attempt to survive extinction trying to escape but finding their last shot has malfunctioned... or perhaps something happened before anyone was even able to board... perhaps this substance has been around since even then, assimilating and evolving all this time. or maybe this is just explaining how Splatoon is a prequel to Animal Crossing and this experimental goo will turn most sentient life on Earth into villagers, and the humans will come back from space as aliens and become their rural law makers and rulers.
I just wanted to tell you that you are my absolute favorite splatoon UA-camr. You’re content is just so interesting and different from all of the other splatoon you tubers and I always look forward to watching your videos. Keep up the awesome work
Literally everyone: "Mr. Grizz could be the new villain or, perhaps humans in some way?" Judd: "Meow! (Heh heh heh... Good. They don't suspect anything)"
Maybe splatoon 1 till 3 can be seen as a trilogy. All the characters, story and stages are connected like that. Maybe the splatlands hold some big secrets or the story mode as least. And once Splat 4 comes around... if it does at all. Or maybe some spinoff. Then we can branch away from what we have now.
all of your videos are always so interesting to watch and the way you analyze and speculate all these theories is amazing! it's been so cool to learn so much about this game :D thankyou so much for making this content
My theory about golden eggs: they are the actual fertile eggs and the normal power eggs are non-fertile eggs which is why salmonids want to keep the golden eggs because those are the ones that actually hold their young, I think this because in the mother ship salmon run event you can break the coolers in the air and they hold golden eggs, but when you break them on the ground the eggs already hatched into the salmonids that pop out of the cooler, as for the power eggs being non fertile well the salmonids trade them off to the octolings and I don't think they would trade unborn salmon, the power eggs don't have a fish fetus in them, and that all of the salmonids have them unlike the golden eggs which only the boss salmons have which might mean that they might be more expendable than the more rare fertile golden eggs
Honestly this video basically described my thoughts exactly lol Something I would like to know is that do you believe the theory that the band Diss-Pair might be the next idols for splatoon 3?
The voice counting down in the rocket scene gave me flashbacks to the "trans6" unused beta sound from half-life 2, which is also supposedly a recording from a spaceship as it was crashing or some sort. It's such an uncanny coincidence. (If anyone reading this comment doesn't know what I'm talking about, please listen to the sound cause it's VERY similar)
Based on one comment screenshot you showed about “if no mammal how pancake”, you can make pancakes with vegetable oil. I do it when I’m out of milk and they’re equally as good.
Here’s a theory to help against the theory of Griz being a literal bear. Machines in splatoon roar, Octarians Can roar, The infected might be capable of Roaring. Possible there might be a Mutant Boss created by the Ooz. Otherwise what are they going to use for bosses I mean it’s possible that they can still use the Great Octarian weapons since they’re piloting those little machines under their feet. ALSO This could be a Result of Judd&Lil’ Judd’s Existence in general not that either are Mr Grizz because that’s dumb just that their apparent immortality has possibly caused this. Also if you dislike it stop implying it and connecting things to it I do think Grizzco will be relevant somehow but I don’t think they’ll be the MAIN antagonists or even directly linked to the Narrative.
i cant help but connect it out of fear for the worst, still really hoping the 'mr grizz is a bear' stuff is a red herring! hell, even if my theory about grizzco being the main antagonist is wrong i wouldnt mind, itd be interesting to see grizzco be connected to the plot in a more unexpected way.
If splatoon 4 ever happens I hope they just go off the fucking rails with the story/lore. Just like, full evangelion rebuild levels of insanity. Considering some of the wild stuff happening in the lore already, the story's like halfway there by this point.
rewatching this in my splatoon hype and holy shit!!!! those masks in the campaign promo art are the idol's masks!! i can't believe they hinted that this early but ALSO i hope this implies the 3 idols have a role in the main campaign?? iirc there was nothing related to pearl/marina in the splat2 art for the campaign so this is WILD
i still don’t think it’s out of the question for grizz to be an inkling or some other non-mammal. im leaning away from it being humans, just cause i don’t know what humans would gain from using this fuzzy ink, yknow. i don’t think the splatoon team would want to vilify humans directly. the masks on the left and right of the promo art appear to be nodding toward the same force that’s turning octarians brown and furry- they’re clearly fish masks in shape, but they resemble mammals. this reoccurring motif of aquatic-species-turned-mammalian to me points less toward the return of mammals as we know them and more to an attempt at bio-engineering new ones. my personal theory is that grizzco/mr grizz are just taking their already harmful business to the next step-recreating a once common predator of salmon to hunt them more efficiently than kids with guns could. then again, it’s nintendo, and a series targeted toward kids, and i wouldn’t be shocked if they decided to just do hyperintelligent space bears instead of taking the series too seriously. i’d be disappointed, but i wouldn’t be surprised
You know what? If the Splatoon devs weren’t having a “me when I lie” moment regarding the rapid evolution of sea life not being caused by experimentation, what if it was caused by accident? What I mean is, considering the spike in sea level after the ice caps were nuked, what if the sea life came into contact with some chemicals or whatever inside labs that became flooded? There could’ve also been a cephalopod lab of some sort that made contact with something in the same building that caused it as well. The Professor was able to make an immortality serum and inject it into Judd, and it succeeded, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had some other wacky stuff being cooked up in labs that are very sci-fi and more advanced than what technology we currently have. It’s just a guess based on what little info there is, but if the rapid evolution really wasn’t the result of an experiment, then perhaps an accident caused the rapid mutation and evolution.
About the eifel tower- its one of those landmarks that there are replicas of Im pretty sure there’s a replica of that tower in both china and las Vegas, and if we’re seeing replicas of several other human construction icons, than it’s not far fetched to think that people in our future built another one. Especially if France was already underwater at that point.
When Pangaea was mentioned for a brief moment, it made me realize how cool it would be if some references from the inkling/octoling society were made in future Pikmin games that take place in PNF-404.
I thought of this after the trailer
This didn't cross my mind ONCE, but this is now the hill I will die on for Splatoon 3.
@@nickg5341 And then Judd is returned once you finish the story mode.

OMG HI
Some stuff that I want in Splatoon 3 would be:
More cutscenes.
The best villains are usually the ones who don't actually believe themselves to be evil.
Gotta say, I was not ready for the return of the mammalians.
Man. I wish we had gotten more of this in the end product.
Nope, it was the humans escaping and trying to make their new home a representation of all their best achievements
@@sketchydez4106 I completely agree. Seeing DJ Octavio again in Splatoon 2 was so disappointing. Also, the boss fight was super easy. :/
please tell me u got to play octo expansion, though! it sucks that it took an extra $20 to actually get an excellent and unique solo mode but octo expansion def feels like it's what splatoon 2's story mode SHOULD have been.

That would be cool
So maybe "Spacelings"?
what if mr grizz is the professor but he's like mutated and shit
Well, the humans in the splatoon universe fight 5 world wars, that in the final they launch a bomb that can melt almost all the ice in one of the poles. And we know nothing about the tech of the human, that is why I think that humans are probably still alive, probably most of the humans that are probably still alive are for the neutral countries from the last war, going to Mars, Europe (moon of Jupiter), or in a space station that are mining asteroid for living.
@@Miguel-iv5ft I mean humans get taller and their heads get bigger when their in space...So tall and big headed people.

in a way, i think that humans would be like, a great design for an alien species from an inkling's point of view, just like we made our aliens resemble us and have an humanoid shape but also be extremely different from us
that would be so cool!!! like the game's like "ayo bro aliens are coming" and we're getting super hyped up, but then... it's *us.* on that note, though, the inklings (or at least cap'n cuttlefish) know what humans look like

@@Lavamario1 it’d be really cool (if that did happen) that when you find them they seem terrified but perhaps not violent. @@_____________a_a but failed from the evidence we see in salmon run. Tho maybe it's not the ONLY spaceship.
@@Lavamario1 it could’ve been in orbit, ran out of fuel, then crashed back down to earth?
I also thought of grizz idolizing bears or something
Maybe mr grizz was the first to mutate himself and then started the whole "grand offense to all salmonids"
Lastly, the rapid mutation idea could maybe explain the origins of the inklings as well.
I like reading everyone’s thoughts weeks after the game is out
@@josevst7274 Holy crap this is surprisingly close to what happened.
Then in later games or dlc they can really focus on other enemies and aspects of the splatoon world
You kinda got it right
17:35 My theory: whoever Mr.

What if, when ex-agent 3 (current captain) is introduced, the switch checks for octo expansion data, and uses the customization data from there to generate the look of the new captain? THE GIFT OF PROPHECY

Well this sure aged well :)

Another phenomenal Rassicas video! I’m ready!!
Plot twist, the final villain is one of the rabbits from the splatoon 1 beta
I mean thry are a gang, not just a band
"Craig Cuttlefish found dead in Miami" LMFAO STOPP 💀💀💀 I ACTUALLY SCREAMED.
i’m excited for splatoon 3’s lore to add to the whole “hey you know that cute squid game that isn’t dark at all? yeah well…”
bro casually spoils the game months before its release
If inklings were a result of experimentation, the fuzzy ink could have a connection to them if they had human dna.
I'm rooting for the bear theory honestly, to see if Nintendo makes the bears with big inflated googly eyes
What if there's two story modes? One where you play as an Inkling, with Captain 3 and the Squid Sisters, and the other an Octoling with Agent 8 and Off the Hook? The Inkling side is about discovering the mysteries of the mammalians, while the Octoling side is about rescuing Octarians and healing them to get rid of the fur!
... Maybe?
I’m guessing that Grizzco is gonna be a human wearing a bear’s skin coat thingy
I don't think we're gonna see other players' Little Buddies in multiplayer modes.
also I really want to see Agent 8 working in a weapons shop pls
and 20:44 pigeons and ducks aren't mammals. they're birds. which evolved from dinosaurs?? birds are much closer to reptiles than mammals
Yeah even if the game’s out now, I think fitting the pattern of every entry adding 1 new playable species
Though personally I’d go with nudibranchs, like Flow, but that’s just because I like nudibranchs more than anemones
splatoon 6: capn cuttle fish found dead in the sewers after waitng to kidnap another child to save the world
crazy good video as always , looking forward to seeing what other ideas for videos this trailer gave you!
also, I really enjoy longer videos like this, because even if they take longer, they’re so worth it to finally watch. Keep up the good work, Ki!!
thank you!
I mean, I doubt the bear/water bear pun still works in Japanese, but I think it’s a reasonable twist the story would have.
could u imagine if he was a red panda, so like a raccoon but red and way more fluffy 😭
Seeing you just say 'Alternia' then flash that image just sent me into a shock
SAME
I didn't know people were expecting salmonlings at any point but boy am I happy it didn't happen. I always thoughthought that it would make sense to add an ink/octoling adjacent creature for the salmonids, but in my mind that would have been an old-timey helmeted diving suit with a golden egg wired into the head and moving with hydraulic ink or something.
32:20 really thankful this aged terribly
30:48 that mask low-key looks like the head of Taranza from the kirby game: Kirby Triple Deluxe. That, combined with the new Kirby game coming out, makes me sort of loosely consider: what if the Kirby and Splatoon worlds were somehow distantly connected. I highly doubt this but it would be kind of funny.
I’ve noticed that splatoon has a 90’s retro vibes, splatoon 2 has a more modern vibe, and splatoon 3 looks very futuristic.
Just a little pattern
31:00
So... about the masks, we now know that they are from Deep Cut, soo... YA BOI BIG MAN IS CONFIRMED AS A CHARACTER IN THE CAMPAIN LETS GOOOOO (or maybe just characters that talk with radios or something like Off The Hook during most of Octo Expansion and the Squid Sisters in Splat1 campain, but lets be optimistic, imagine agent like, idk, 11 Big Man)
I think whoever Mr.Grizz /the new villain turns out to be, I think they will act as a mirror to new agent 3. possibly some sort of octarian salvager that went rouge after finding DNA research of mammals. finding this and the many other artifacts of humans have driven them to become obsessed with the past, and now are using every means they have of trying to recreate the past, regardless of the others they are experimenting on.
all of this to contrast the player character's relationship with the salmonid buddy, and likely octarians as well, as they unite to protect their peoples and the people they care about
"splatoon 6: craig cuttlefish found dead in miami" this is my favorite sentence
Near one of the salmon run maps you can see a splatlands looking rock
The scream from the direct steam is still echoing in my ears
My hope is that there are 2 hubs: splatsville and inkopolis. Inkopolis only plays old maps and splatsville only plays inkopolis maps. Theres definitely some issues with this but Id love to know what you think.
So is it just me or did the countdown sound slightly British? Combined with your theory on humanity finding the disk and returning, do you think it could be like humanity continuing their imperialist values and trying to retake the earth?
What??
This is the most massive leap in logic ever
A sort of British voice doesn't mean that the new British empire is coming to overtake the world or whatever
Going back to NATO likely being one of the only groups to be capable of managing to send inhabitants to the stars, Britain being part of NATO, english being the official language of NATO, and the simple fact that humanity at its core seeks to conquer whatever it may lay its hands upon, it would not be out of the question that descendants of humanity who were sent to the stars by NATO would seek to reclaim earth.
fun fact: the reason it's named alterna is because toby Fucking fox suggested the homestuck world name to a nintendo employee as a joke and the employee actually liked it. yeah
Wait what
I SAW THE TUMBLR POST ABOUT THIS it was posted by someone with a 'postsfromanothertimeline' gimmick so its not true. but it gave me a scare
@@rassicas HOLY SHIT WHAT i need to read urls oh my god
Finished the story mode, came back here. One word

i have one word as well:

RASSICAS HAS COME TO GIVE US THE ANALYSIS
YESSSSS
YEEEEESSSSSSSSS
I just realised Captain 3 does the rank X pose that's incredible
It also looks like a 3 on its side
10:07 also if you reverse tartar's music there's an english countdown as well
I just wanted to tell you that you are my absolute favorite splatoon UA-camr. You’re content is just so interesting and different from all of the other splatoon you tubers and I always look forward to watching your videos. Keep up the awesome work
My headcannon for the reason and speed of the evoloution is simply radiation from the world wars
That’s what I thought! Great minds think alike.
Literally everyone: "Mr. Grizz could be the new villain or, perhaps humans in some way?"
Judd: "Meow!
Honestly this video basically described my thoughts exactly lol
Something I would like to know is that do you believe the theory that the band Diss-Pair might be the next idols for splatoon 3?
idk how likely it is but id love for it to happen
I imagine that for the inklings going to different stages in inkopolis is like a sports team going to another city's stadium
From the way you're saying it, it sounds like the fuzzy ink is like sanitization
That’s what I thought too! It sounds at least similar!
I'm convinced that the fuzzing stuff is a form of sanitizing fluid
The voice counting down in the rocket scene gave me flashbacks to the "trans6" unused beta sound from half-life 2, which is also supposedly a recording from a spaceship as it was crashing or some sort. It's such an uncanny coincidence. (If anyone reading this comment doesn't know what I'm talking about, please listen to the sound cause it's VERY similar)
the recording was faked iirc but is still creepy as hell.
edit: here's a link to the sound file ua-cam.com/video/4WvnKXMp5uA/v-deo.html
10 months later and we now know the masks are the 3 new idol's masks
Based on one comment screenshot you showed about “if no mammal how pancake”, you can make pancakes with vegetable oil. I do it when I’m out of milk and they’re equally as good.
I don’t get how people get confused over how they make foods that contain dairy when dairy alternatives exist
"Coincidence? Shit dude idk" is basically the summary of literally every Splatoon 3 theory right now, including the one I left on your Grizzco video
I used to be a fan of Salmonlings, I can’t say the same now..
"Splatoon 6 Craig Cuddlefish found Dead in Miami" absolutely rolled me
Yeah so I recently beat the story mode in Splatoon 3 and oh man.... oh god...
rewatching this in my splatoon hype and holy shit!!!! those masks in the campaign promo art are the idol's masks!! i can't believe they hinted that this early but ALSO i hope this implies the 3 idols have a role in the main campaign?? iirc there was nothing related to pearl/marina in the splat2 art for the campaign so this is WILD
i still don’t think it’s out of the question for grizz to be an inkling or some other non-mammal. im leaning away from it being humans, just cause i don’t know what humans would gain from using this fuzzy ink, yknow. i don’t think the splatoon team would want to vilify humans directly. the masks on the left and right of the promo art appear to be nodding toward the same force that’s turning octarians brown and furry- they’re clearly fish masks in shape, but they resemble mammals. this reoccurring motif of aquatic-species-turned-mammalian to me points less toward the return of mammals as we know them and more to an attempt at bio-engineering new ones. my personal theory is that grizzco/mr grizz are just taking their already harmful business to the next step-recreating a once common predator of salmon to hunt them more efficiently than kids with guns could. then again, it’s nintendo, and a series targeted toward kids, and i wouldn’t be shocked if they decided to just do hyperintelligent space bears instead of taking the series too seriously. i’d be disappointed, but i wouldn’t be surprised
I don’t think anyone has pointed this out yet, but the masks resemble the colors of Chaos v. Order.
I would laugh so LOUD if mr grizzly is actually a bear
When Pangaea was mentioned for a brief moment, it made me realize how cool it would be if some references from the inkling/octoling society were made in future Pikmin games that take place in PNF-404.
