@16:55 In retrospect, Imagine be so spot on despite thinking you were wrong. lol Also 20:07 did they mention that somewhere in docs or interview or did you srsly guess that while writing the script.
Tbh the first thing I thought of when I saw the King Salmon was "deep sea predator". Lots of deep sea fish are huge, bulky, and sneaky, and often have those bulging, blank eyes like we see in the trailer. That, and chains are usually used for an abyss look, and the greyscale camera we see used has the same quality as cameras used to observe marine life in the lower parts of the ocean. My biggest question is why would there be a deep sea salmon, if what I'm thinking is right
hey just an interesting thing I noticed in splatoon 2 there are pieces of art descripting the king salmonid in salmon run. Its an interesting bit of foreshadowing.
I'd like to point out that later in the trailers song, roughly around when the yelling noises start, very VERY faintly you can hear tartars garbled speech noises in the background!
being subscribed to this channel and prochara's is a wild trip bc on one hand we have a "we know that the salmonid have a trade agreement with the octarians" review and on the other we have a "it is absolutely vile that you can squid roll twice" review
I theorise that lil buddy was kicked out for whatever reason and somehow agent 3 helped them maybe nursed them back to health so agent 3 has a reason to work for grizco other than money maybe the reason they were kicked out has something to do with why they don't appear to be affected by the weird stuff we throw it at
i feel like if nintendo didnt add salmon run back in 3, people wouldve inevitably start complaining they took a core feature from 2 out of the sequel, so them reworking assets doesnt bother me in a technical standpoint but BOY DOES IT SURE MAKE ME EXCITED FOR THE LORE LOL
As much as I don't want them, salmonlings still make sense as an idea, I mean, the octarian race is a vast one that is sentient, and yet octolings still exist. I wouldn't be surprised if salmonlings exist, but then again this is Nintendo, if I won't be surprised by it, it probably won't happen. Either way, great video and I wish I could like the video twice.
No other specie has been shown to transform like inklings can, Octolings are an exception due to having convergent evolutionary adaptations. (also they're much more related with each other than with any other species).
Also didn't rassicas already talk about how Octolings are how Octarians actually look like and that the tentacle-only Octarians are basically chopped off Octoling bits that live due to the nerves in the tentacles?
i know this is a bit late but i noticed something that points more towards the person/people behind mr grizz being someone who’s part of inkling society/culture. you mentioned in your video about mammals being extinct that the inklings somewhat view the sea in a religious lens, and in both mr grizz’s dialogue for salmon run shifts (specifically the dialogue for 100+ eggs where they say something along the lines of “you have been blessed by the sea’s bounty!”) and their final splatfest dialogue where mr grizz is written saying that they believe the sea answers all questions and generally views the sea as more important than the conflicts of the inkling society, that could suggest that the person/people behind mr grizz might view the sea in a religious way like inklings, so they could be inkling-affiliated beings or, at the very least, not tartar again because i’m guessing with how much distain tartar has for inkling/octoling culture he wouldn’t have a religious view of the sea. what do you think? i’m by no means a splatoon lore expert, but i think this tracks?
I also found some thing else in the trailer it’s not really important but when you’re introducing the fish stick it’s kind of sounds like if you listen really closely kind of sounds like a part of nasty majesty from Splatoon two Octo Expansion
If Grizzco isn’t revealed to be Splatoon 3s antagonist, that just gets me more interested in seeing just how far Grizzco is gonna go before we get to take it down
Well Splatoon 3s story fully reveals the intent of Grizzco. I’m not going to reveal what that is for those who haven’t beat the story yet and have unlocked all its content, but it leaves a ton of questions as to what role the salmonids play in the greater picture in this lore. Hopefully the DLC will reveal that to us
At the end of the Salmon Run trailer, there’s a horror-esque violin riff that plays. Going off the logic of the prior two trailers, is there anywhere in the two previous games that a similar violin riff plays? If so, it could give us insight into the next trailer…
Hello. I came here from Chuggaaconroy’s Lp where he mentioned your lore and theory videos. I’m interested in Splatoon lore and with game 3 on the horizon I’m looking forward to future videos. I’ll also be looking back at the previous lore so I can be properly caught up.
If you look at the art for the flipper flopper you see his head gear in the bottom right corner, it uses a buckle that looks like the same one octostomp uses
With the direct my idea is after you beat grizz in the story mode you can’t shut down grizzco because then who would organize the resistance force against the salmon invasions during big run
what if the uh the fuzzy ooze is explained to be the reason for the salmon king's transformation. I mean It does resemble a small fry with being bottom heavy instead of top heavy then the size of its fins and shape of its head
I know it's weird but I am mostly really excited for the music, because Splatoon does one of the boldest things in music for games and *includes* it in game. Hopefully Rassicas will also do a "Lore of Splatoon 3 Music" for the next Soundtrack ^^
Reading the description and.... "i don't want mr. grizz to be a bear from outer space.... starting to feel a glimmer of hope that wont happen!" Aha, yeah, I got some news for you... (yes I know this was 10 months ago)
My guess is the name dropped is a hint on what the King Salmonid is, a boss, and the titular next wave, a 4th wave with a co op boss you have to beat to leave and not fail maybe.
Maybe the King Salmonid destroyed the Grizzco boat (hence the anchor) and now Grizzco uses helicopters to avoid these new threats now that they're pushing deeper into Salmonid territory.
There was a fairly popular tweet saying that the music in this trailer was awful I can't blame people from finding Salmon Run or even Splatoon music in general off-putting, but I sure as heck ain't among them
on okashirashake, I singled out shira being white, but in an altered meaning which emphasizes purity. meaning this godzilla big boy is the pure salmon, and by a bit of speculation our little buddy is an altered, tamed salmon. also oka for hill could tie in to the royalty aspect, or more like someone at the top of something. I don't know enough japanese to know if I should approach the fact that it's written in kana instead of kanji as something important, but eh
something I saw was that Lil Buddy has black pants while other salmon wear green, maybe the black signifies docile salmon that are a seperate group to the hostile ones, I'm not saying that they're friends with inklings, just that they aren't hostile to them, maybe it signifies if they're salmon in the military, or if they produce ink, or it's nothing and I'm looking too deep into this.

Maybe even some board of clueless middle managers to aid in operation and expansion, all paid for through the power eggs collected by the inklings, which honestly is pretty on-brand for this kind of business.
I was expecting the flip flipper to be convergent evolution where an animal evolves to look like another one to feel the same ecological niche because it is free (usually because the other species went extinct)
That's a neat idea (and exactly what's happening between inklings, octolings and humans)
But it's also nice that they try to keep some consistency with the characters that are meant to have more in common with eachother
crabs: 😀
I can not wait to yell “YA-YEET” each time I throw a golden egg,and make my family hate me
omg yes
indeed
Can't wait for Splatoon 4: Honey I shrunk the Squids
Honestly the Fish Stick reminds me of the obelisk from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Considering how the Fish Stick is initially shown with a jingle similar to Tartar's blender reveal I don't think that's an accident.
in German, the fish stick is called "Mobelisk" a mobile obelisk
something thats really cool about the flipper flopper is that in the handbook at grizzco, its stated that it idolizes an animal that once flourished the seas and wears the mask to look like that animal, i rlly dont know what it could be thi
Now that Splatoon 3 is out, it's pretty clear that "fortress" turned into Gone Fission Hydroplant. Note the perfectly square spawn area and the narrow low-tide route.
Imagine an endless salmon wave where it's goes into all of your team dies and you can still revive your teammates
21:06 AGED LIKE FINE WINE
I hope the end of the story mode lets us choose to release little buddy, even if it's a false choice and he comes back anyway. That would be cute and sweet and even if he's thought of as pet at the start, that would redeem New 3 as they come to acknowledge that salmonids have will and should be respected too
I’m wondering how all of these will come together in the final game, time will tell I guess
What if the New Hero mode boss is new? As, not Mr.Grizz, nor Tartar or DJ Octavio, but something new all together?
this is what im expecting at this point!
This is what I've been wanting tbh. Grizz seemed a bit too obvious and I didn't want them as a main villain because of that
“Like a bear from outer space” wow. Called the game long before they knew.
As someone who works in a very labor intensive job (literal boring, as in, boring holes in the ground) our 'shop' (a place to store the trucks and meet up at every morning) that washer is dryer is 100% there for the workers benefit. At our shop, we got a washer and dryer right by the entrance, and it gets used pretty frequently as far as im aware (never had to use it myself tho). Considering the inkling are going into a very wet and muggy environment, one which is also polluted, they probably have to wash their uniforms pretty regularly.
Then again tho, this could absolutely just be me assigning way more meaning than really necessary.

Inkredibly aged like milk
I definitely have hunk that little body is a rebel of some sort. Either that, or he was hatched by new agent 3 and sees them as a mother.
litle body….
Yeah, it could be that he doesn't know anything outside of following New Agent 3 around and is kept in the dark about what's going on with Grizzco
little body 💀
"a bear of outer space"
dear blobfish, are you spying Nintendo or they are spying you.
Can I just say that i want to have 2 person splatoon. like we get a game mode where you can hook up controllers and play splatoon with the people who are using the controllers.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LIKES! I've never had this attention before T-T
Kinda like battle dojo in splat 1?
So Splatoon 1 local multiplayer but actually good
Splatoon Local Couch Co Op
while I am happy that we as a society has progressed past the rubber band controller, an actually GOOD split screen mode would be awesome too
So like you can have 2 players on the same console?
About the jingle at 4:41
I believe that jingle has also been used in tower control, if you hear it not through the amount of chaos going around. It's speed up and it's like some kind of music box. I don't have any current theories about it yet
Glad didn't watch this video before play the story mode, I would get spoiled for how close that theory is.
Space bear is still pretty epic.
Literally that’s what happened to me LOL I made the mistake of binging these videos before playing and as soon as the final boss was name dropped I was like “fuck”-
21:07 I come *bear*ing bad news...
i absolutely love the detail of the suits being taped closed.
I hope their muscles are not in pain in that compressed suit while fighting the salmonids lol.
Damn, you predicted Mr.Grizz identity far before the game launch
A bit late to this, but the Mr. Grizz from Splatoon 2 could potentially not be the same Mr. Grizz from Splatoon 3, if that makes sense. Like Grizzco is under new management or something. Would definitely help explain why Grizzco still exists yet it is hinted that Grizz will be a major villain
EDIT: [ROTM SPOILERS]

this was right but not in the way I expected lol
It's possible, but then we need something to point out that Mr Grizz has stepped down as Grizzco's CEO
Kind of ended up being right actually?
This bring up a few more questions than answers… Especially for both the Story and Salmon Run.
I just have one question:
Don't Salmonoids only attack Inklings after every 72 years or so? And if so, what's causing them to come back or still be around? It's obvious that not many years have passed so I'm curious about that :0c
Maybe the migration lasts for quite a while, or not much time has passed after Splatoon 2. Maybe it only STARTS every 70-something years, and lasts for about 10 years.
@@evanm1337 Oo! You could be right about that actually! Plus the Japanese version usually has more information, so maybe the sunken scroll (or wherever to information was found) has more to it :0
I think that the salmonids aren't in their great migration and that Grizzco is outright invading and raiding salmonid territory
@@GandalfTheTsaagan oh yeah I forgot Grizzco does that-
Another possibility is that Grizzco is forcing them to migrate more often in order to sustain their populations.
Late to the party but always fun to comment later on.
BUT
me and my friend collectively agree with how the Salmonid's are "barbaric" Little Buddy hungers for war and cheers you on from the Helicopter during Salmon Run. He's there so he doesnt accidently get splatted lmao.
Salmonids are actually quite intelligent
Its a small thing, But the Flipper-Flopper really reminded me of one of the splatoon1 bosses, Where the boss would be within ink, and would appear, in a circle, around you. That circle would be filled with enemy ink and you'd have to escape. I don't remember the name at the moment though
The Octomaw?
0:11 hmm...seems to be the theme of these trailers.
This was a very interesting video! I actually didn't know that the giant foods in the stages were statues, the fish stick was actually comprised of baby stingers, or that the water was polluted (though looking back, it 100% is). I don't have anything new to add really (that isn't dumb or stretched that is), but I look forward to new information coming in the future!
21:00 I am so sorry
I still think the King Salmonid was a result of mutation from radiation. Anyways, you did such a great job analyzing this trailer.
nah the king salmonid is just ur mom
@16:55
In retrospect, Imagine be so spot on despite thinking you were wrong. lol
Also 20:07 did they mention that somewhere in docs or interview or did you srsly guess that while writing the script.
Reading your description, I would love to see your reaction to the final boss as it's almost EVERYTHING you think it won't be.
21:03 ... this line aged like wine or milk depending on your pov (Like wine for me)
Wine ages good tho?
@@insertnamehere1398 yes. Ik.
2:15 I would love to see total dark waves where that head lamp would come in handy with :D
3:26 truly a professional at work here
I theorise that lil buddy was kicked out for whatever reason and somehow agent 3 helped them maybe nursed them back to health so agent 3 has a reason to work for grizco other than money maybe the reason they were kicked out has something to do with why they don't appear to be affected by the weird stuff we throw it at
Only splatoon UA-camr I’m actually hyped about watching 👀👀👀👀🔥🔥🔥 can’t wait for more
i feel like if nintendo didnt add salmon run back in 3, people wouldve inevitably start complaining they took a core feature from 2 out of the sequel, so them reworking assets doesnt bother me in a technical standpoint but BOY DOES IT SURE MAKE ME EXCITED FOR THE LORE LOL
I just found your channel yesterday and i binge watched a bunch of your videos i really like them !!

Oh this "being wrong" aged like milk.
21:02 21:57
HOLY SHIT THIS AGED EVEN WORSE THAN MILK
What ages worse than milk
"A bear from outer space" hmmm where have I heard that before...
(DAMN THE SECRET LOG)
i know this is a bit late but i noticed something that points more towards the person/people behind mr grizz being someone who’s part of inkling society/culture. you mentioned in your video about mammals being extinct that the inklings somewhat view the sea in a religious lens, and in both mr grizz’s dialogue for salmon run shifts (specifically the dialogue for 100+ eggs where they say something along the lines of “you have been blessed by the sea’s bounty!”) and their final splatfest dialogue where mr grizz is written saying that they believe the sea answers all questions and generally views the sea as more important than the conflicts of the inkling society, that could suggest that the person/people behind mr grizz might view the sea in a religious way like inklings, so they could be inkling-affiliated beings or, at the very least, not tartar again because i’m guessing with how much distain tartar has for inkling/octoling culture he wouldn’t have a religious view of the sea.
what do you think? i’m by no means a splatoon lore expert, but i think this tracks?
Coming back a few weeks after Splatoon 3 dropping, and knowing Mr Grizz is actually the villain, is awsome
I also found some thing else in the trailer it’s not really important but when you’re introducing the fish stick it’s kind of sounds like if you listen really closely kind of sounds like a part of nasty majesty from Splatoon two Octo Expansion
If Grizzco isn’t revealed to be Splatoon 3s antagonist, that just gets me more interested in seeing just how far Grizzco is gonna go before we get to take it down
A bear from outer space... Well..
I just finished the main story, I'm just gonna say
Yes, you are correct
21:08 "like a bear from outer space" nintendo laughs.
Coming back to this having played story mode while I wait for Rass to make another video.
21:04 uh oh......
might be just the trailer but the face animation at 4:42 looks really nice, hope the faces are animated like that in the whole game
I really hope it’s a inkling and not a bear from outer space: Bonus kettle
Hello. I came here from Chuggaaconroy’s Lp where he mentioned your lore and theory videos. I’m interested in Splatoon lore and with game 3 on the horizon I’m looking forward to future videos. I’ll also be looking back at the previous lore so I can be properly caught up.
If you're interested in splatoon lore you've come to the right place on the internet. welcome!
21:58 that definatly... aged
I know it's weird but I am mostly really excited for the music, because Splatoon does one of the boldest things in music for games and *includes* it in game. Hopefully Rassicas will also do a "Lore of Splatoon 3 Music" for the next Soundtrack ^^
Very excited to see what comes in splatoon 3!
WAIT. If small fries change based on theyre living conditions does that mean little buddy might grow into something that looks like an inkling
Reading the description and....
"i don't want mr. grizz to be a bear from outer space.... starting to feel a glimmer of hope that wont happen!"
Aha, yeah, I got some news for you...
(yes I know this was 10 months ago)
This whole video is foreshadoing
My guess is the name dropped is a hint on what the King Salmonid is, a boss, and the titular next wave, a 4th wave with a co op boss you have to beat to leave and not fail maybe.
Maybe the King Salmonid destroyed the Grizzco boat (hence the anchor) and now Grizzco uses helicopters to avoid these new threats now that they're pushing deeper into Salmonid territory.
I like to think that the king salmon is the salmonoid buddy's mom and she's trying to get buddy back, probably not cannon but I like it
Kinda like the gingerbread man and his kaiju sibling in Shrek 2
@Almighty Cephalo-God a game theory!
Wait are people saying they don’t like the music? I’ve just heard a lot of people really jamming to the track
There was a fairly popular tweet saying that the music in this trailer was awful
I can't blame people from finding Salmon Run or even Splatoon music in general off-putting, but I sure as heck ain't among them
@@GandalfTheTsaagan agreed there’s very few tracks in splatoon that I find hard to listen to
Well at least Salmon Run is back, it’s what we wanted.
on okashirashake, I singled out shira being white, but in an altered meaning which emphasizes purity. meaning this godzilla big boy is the pure salmon, and by a bit of speculation our little buddy is an altered, tamed salmon. also oka for hill could tie in to the royalty aspect, or more like someone at the top of something. I don't know enough japanese to know if I should approach the fact that it's written in kana instead of kanji as something important, but eh
oh on shira, shiro is how white is more commonly said, but it doesn't have the same purity
When Grizzco *is*run by a space bear
I love how you use the same picture of a bear whenever you mention the space bear theory
something I saw was that Lil Buddy has black pants while other salmon wear green, maybe the black signifies docile salmon that are a seperate group to the hostile ones, I'm not saying that they're friends with inklings, just that they aren't hostile to them, maybe it signifies if they're salmon in the military, or if they produce ink, or it's nothing and I'm looking too deep into this.
