    I am new to flux core welding and I got my arc captain 130 right out of the box and tried the flux core Mig and I am used to the ground clamp being on negative node with stick welding, but with the flux core welding, it will not work.
    For this to work, you must place the ground clamp on the positive node and the mig gun is already automatically negative.
    Basically ground clamp to positive for flux core welding.
    Then for stick welding, you still have the option to do DC electropositive or DC electronegative.
    Also, for those who do not know a stinger is the electrode holder used for stick welding.
    As a sidenote, I love this welder, and will definitely rely on this for many projects. I would say 100% that this welder is an improvement to what I have been working with in my shop. It is a fantastic machine. It is great for small jobs.

      Thanks for the comment. I'm a covert myself, and very pleased with this machine. I have a HF Titanium flux125 in the shop but I'm not sure I'll ever go back to it now I have this one. Go check out the mig130 lift tig video we released if that's something you may want to try. Works great.

    Nice video. I bought this before watching, as I need something portable and can run on 120v for putting in drill stem pipe for fencing. I haven't welded in a few years but after 3 passes with the included flux core I was pretty happy with the results!

    I just ordered one. If anyone knows what the contract tip part number is and if any big name tips will fit this welder

    I just ordered one. They were $139, but had a $20 off coupon going. I own a more capable welder, but using a 220v extension cord, and dealing with a bottle is less than ideal. I've been curious about trying out one of these 115v flux core machines. If it handles up to 1/8" I'll be impressed. Having stick capability is a big plus as well. I tried my son's low cost stick welder, and found the display was reading on the low side (compared to what we are use to), so just turning the power up a bit more helped.

    16:35 turn your amps to 75 to 95 and make sure you clean the metal to clean shine metal only with 7018 also put your ground clamp on a very open shiny metal piece you do have it on a nice piece clean but make sure you get a torch and heat up the spot your going to weld that makes for better strikes and better fusion

    I was going to HF to get the Titanium easy flux 125 but after seeing this video I think I will go with the Arccaptain, I like the fact it has a stick option, can’t beat that price either, going to check out your other video on the weld helmet, thanks for the review!

      Thanks for watching! I actually own the HF flux125 as well, after a long pause from welding, it was one of the first welders I bought... It is a fine welder, got me through a few tough jobs, but seriously, having the stick option is great, and if you watch the "how to lift Tig" video I posted, the Mig130 can Tig weld pretty well too.
      Take care.

    Looks like their flux core has a higher nickle content, makes it look real clean after the wire brush

    • @LightaFire_studio
      @LightaFire_studio  Рік тому +1

      It is surprisingly clean, I usually run Forney, or Lincoln flux wire, but I have to say Arccaptian has less spatter and you really make nice beads with it.
      Thanks for watching!

    im thinking you might have sold me on this one buddy. i have a yes welder 125 stick?tig machine it is kind of a nightmare to get a 1/8 7018 rod rolling. i really want a gasless gun setup for ease and this looks like it may run stick a touch better. im probably going to try some 3/16 rod as wel.

      I've been very happy with my Yeswelder 205ds-b, but for the price difference I think this will get the job done. Honestly, I wish I had more stick hours on this machine, running mostly 3/32, but the flux side of it easily goes toe to toe with any of the harbor freight welders.
      Sorry for slow reply, thanx for watching!

    nice, ordered one last week, they don't cover anything on how to install and set the drive roller??

    • @LightaFire_studio
      @LightaFire_studio  11 місяців тому

      Yes, even though they go to great length in the manual about a lot of things, that is overlooked. Sorry didn't cover it here, but with a little trial and error you'll get'er set up right.👍

      I hold a 2x4 couple inches in front of the gun. Adjust tension until the wire bends when it hit the wood.

    Any problems with it tripping a breaker?

    • @LightaFire_studio
      @LightaFire_studio  Рік тому

      Never, I have it on a dedicated 20amp that I use for any of the 120v welders we use. Works great. Thank for watching 👍

    • @thooper4380
      @thooper4380 Рік тому +1

      I had it trip mine, but I had it at max amperage of 130A, on an extension cord, and no idea what else was on that breaker. Way too much splatter at that amperage, I dialed it back to 65A where it was making a much nicer weld and didn't trip the breaker again.

    What is the duty cycle

    • @LightaFire_studio
      @LightaFire_studio  11 місяців тому

      Arccaptian simply put, says 60%. Interpretation how you want, my experience has been pushing in the 60-90amp range for light duty welding all day with 10-15min breaks between long passes. It'll weld all day in my experience, never overheated or trip breaker
