Great courage and work! Attacking the windshield job at the same time certainly makes getting the headliner board out/in easy. That’s how it goes in at factory. Many upholstery shops remove the windshield to do the headliner so to not fold/crease it on removal and installation. I’m considering coupling my windshield replacement with my headliner on my Mk6 Gli. Fun video! Thanks!

Good job! Getting the liner form out is possibly the hardest part of the task! I did the headliner on our Mini Cooper, but the hatchback makes it easy to remove the liner form.
Easiest way would have been to remove the passenger seat 1st Meg, but hey you got there!. After 39 years (so far) as a mechanic I can say 'every day is a school day'
Great video, I can realte on the struggle and pain, but at the end, the achievement of doing it yourself is priceless. Even if if not 100% perfect, it just has a bit of character. Very interesting to see what it takes to remove, fix and re-install faulty headliner. Quite a difficult job. One of my previous cars windshield (glued) started leaking from the center top edge, so had to open the front edge of the headliner, so the car glass shop could inject window glue to the top seam from inside the car. That fixed the leak. My car at the time was 1990 Mazda 323 Sedan (Protege in US). Can't remember exactly how much stuff had to be removed, but at the very least, sunvisors, interior mirror and if I recall correctly, door frame seals which hold partially A-pillar trims as well to make some gap to the headliner front edge.
The only thing I know about having used spray adhesive before is to start in the middle and go out, and only do bits at a time. That's a lot easier with a bendable fabric. Also manufacturers cheat when they build the cars. The headliner does go into the car before the windshield is in, and they have plenty of room to slide it right in there.
I've heard that as well about building the cars "around" the headliner! Apparently the jetta's get their headliners installed through the front windshield before the glass goes in!
This is a job I have to do on my 06 jetta. I think if I take out the passenger seat out the headliner would come out easier.got a lot of good pointers on removing the headliner .
Meg , again I'm amazed at the projects that you take on and at this time your very good at completing them all Great job . I will be watching every post that you make thanks ! My Automatic transmission to be rebuilt is this up your ally ??
Toony Meg hits again. Well done, it was a struggle though, but you managed it. 👍Well, it's not perfect, it will settle some, but looks waaay better than before. Maybe you would be better off if you started laying the fabric lengthwise, stretching sideways because you have more flat space and a shorter distance, otherwise it wants to bend and stick.. I guess the next time will be perfecto. 🤞 Your windshield is cracked by the way... ...another project on the coming?! 🤔 Cheers. Oh, those aaahhh, ooohhh, oh noooo's with the back music were spot on! 😁
Thank you @darkfactory8082 ! It definitely was a struggle lol! You know, after having done this, I think you're right, it may have been better laying the fabric lengthwise instead of widthwise. I thought about doing it that way initially but all the UA-cam videos I found showed them doing it width wise so I figured there must have been a reason?! Who knows!
Normally, when your ceiling deteriorates and starts to peel off, you would think about replacing your car. Restoration to dispel this is wonderful. Recently, there are resin lining removal tools, which I recommend as they won't damage the panels.
Wow! You are a very brave person no doubt. Oh! the 10 inch spanner thing it happens to the best of us. 😂. Great job you did exceptionally well for a first try.
Next time instead of cutting around the holes cut an X out from one corner to the next that will give you material to fold over to the back side then glue the flaps on the back that will hide the edges and keep it from peeling off when you take the bezels off.
My favorite Megcanic is back with a new video. 😀 This is one of the most frustrating and terrible jobs you can do alone. I know all about it, unfortunately. It's not a party with two people. So respect for your perseverance. I can't do better. You may be able to smooth out minor imperfections with an iron.

Thank you 😊 Not always, but trying to practice being more brave every day!
There you go, girl and a genius at mechanics
Always wanted to do this and amazed I have not tried it yet. Nice job, keep up the good work my fellow Canadian. Ps. It's still cold here in Manitoba.
It's a tough one but man does it make the interior look 10x better! Hope you get some warm weather soon!
@@Meg.August thanks Meg keep up the great video's
Maybe taking the front seats out would have made it easier? Tough job either way. Great job.

Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying them
Nice vid. Loved your socks too! Have a great day!
Thank you!
Maybe worth checking if a steam cleaner used gently will relax the foam and even out the surface.
Yes I could do that! I'm also hoping with the warmer weather we have coming it will relax as well.
MEG, u are a Mega Star in the ut World. tackle ur vw head liner all by ur self. something that i wouldn't do. u go Lady at working on ur vehicles.
Thank you!
Looks really good 😎
Thanks!
Your windshield is cracked by the way... ...another project on the coming?!
Who knows!
Hi Meg 👋🏻 Thank you 👍🏻 Great job, difficult project. Hope you have a great weekend my friend 🙂 God Bless 🙏🏻 Appreciate you!
Thank you @db.mc275 ! Have a great weekend as well!
Good job, your work looks very good🎉
Thank you!
Normally, when your ceiling deteriorates and starts to peel off, you would think about replacing your car. Restoration to dispel this is wonderful.
Recently, there are resin lining removal tools, which I recommend as they won't damage the panels.
You are really good. Respect.
Thank you!

Wow! You are a very brave person no doubt. Oh! the 10 inch spanner thing it happens to the best of us. 😂. Great job you did exceptionally well for a first try.
Thank you! Appreciate that!
love your videos.keep up the good work
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying them
Next time instead of cutting around the holes cut an X out from one corner to the next that will give you material to fold over to the back side then glue the flaps on the back that will hide the edges and keep it from peeling off when you take the bezels off.
Good tip, thank you!
Nice task n good luck Ms Meg
Thank you!
Thank you @alfasudoro ! It definitely was a challenging task but I'm really happy I did it!
looks good to me
YOUR AWSOME GREAT WORK KEEP GOING
Thank you!
This Woman is a Unicorn guts 10, intelligence 10, strength 10, determination 10, personality 10, looks 10. She's Canadian so I'll ignore the socks with sandals, its cold up there.😁🥶
I did the head liner in my truck (2nd gen Dodge ) I used the real head liner material , it was hard to get it to follow the corners but it eventually came ...LOL .. Wish I were as flexible as you ...
That was challenging, great job
Thank you!
Great work meg
Thank you!
What will be your next project also tool donation are you just want money for tools or can or do you also except tools
Just as a tip for your own security, you should remove the visor garage door remotes from your vehicles and get actual keyfob opener remotes. Thats what people look for to gain easy access into peoples houses
