Hey Kakibot! i am in Fringe by myself if you ever want to grab a coffee! Thank you for the video, well done!
Thank you for all your tips, especially the information about the sunflower lanyards! It's great that something like this exists! Enjoyed your video, as always :)
One more learning from my experience, arriving early doesn't guarantee a good seat. At Assembly Hall we had partial obstructed view. At Pleasance Courtyard, we sat in 2nd row but on the edge. Wasn't bad until a 6'4" person single ended up directly in front of us for Emu War. Both shows we were in line near front of que.
Thank you so much for the information about the sunflower lanyards. My 23 year old son is autistic. We live in Edinburgh and he loves the Festival, but he does sometimes find it overwhelming.
I bought him one of these lanyards, after watching this video. ❤
Happy this was helpful! It's so great to have an agreed upon symbol for hidden disabilities!
Now I need a video with all D&D and food related Fringe shows 🤭
Hi Kakibot just back from Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago my husband and I had the time of our life. I watched your video’s and they were so helpful they made me feel like I actually knew how to get around The only thing I was disappointed with is I didn’t get to drink hot chocolate at Knoops hopefully when I visit again because I hope to come back. First place I’m going to. I also purchased your artwork (your pins)
So glad to hear you had a fantastic time!! Even happier to hear you're already considering coming back .) Edinburgh really does steal one's heart doesn't it?
As medical students in Edinburgh, we had no summer holidays in our final years which meant that we would be in town in August, in our normal accommodation, and able to see the fringe like an Edinburgh local!
Evening Kat & thanks for sharing tips about Edinburgh Fringe of 2024 here!
You’re very welcome!! Thank you for watching!
Thanks for getting me excited about Fringe again!
During the festivals, so much food is available at the food stalls/trucks surrounding and inside George Square- all varieties and diets. Another grouping on the edge of the Meadows. Easy to grab between shows!
I get so excited for all the street food too! Curious who's gonna pop up this year .)
Thanks for the video. I am taking a trip to Scotland in Aug 2025. I am enjoying your videos.
Thank you for this. I’ve been 3 times in the past and still found this helpful. I will sadly miss it this year, but can’t wait to be back next year 2025!
Love your videos...they have helped me plan my first trip to Scotland. My sister and I will be there in August, first-time visiting and traveling abroad. So excited....hope to see you around while we are there so we can say hello!!
Thank you for such a detailed guide on Fringe 😍😍❤
Glad you found it helpful! .)
This was great! I'll be staying in Leith and taking the tram in each day, which I'm a little nervous about, but at least I know a bunch of cool places in Leith to eat thanks to these videos. :)
The tram is a bit hit and miss - when it runs it's the best way of getting to town, but when a single thing goes wrong, that's it, trams over 😐 but at least in Leith there are also sooo many buses to step in when things go awry!
@@Kakibot Aaaaa, thank you this is another thing it's very good to know!
I get the tram around twice, sometimes up to four times a day for various reasons and at various times of day and honestly it runs pretty smoothly most of the time, I mean sometimes you do get that delay or break down but actually usually it means that it runs from one part to another and it’s usually a walking distance. Not to mention there’s usually a massive number of buses if all else fails.
Growing up in Edinburgh there’s this real grumpy curmudgeonly attitude among locals where you’re obliged to be as negative and annoyed as possible about everything related to the festival and Fringe. It takes moving away and coming back to really appreciate it I think and realise that it’s pretty special to live in a city that isn’t just a boring concrete wasteland and actually has fun interesting things happening in it!
Here here.
Great video! I'm going for the first time. My friend is performing: Petty Tyrant. I've been traveling each time she performed it here in NYC.
That's exciting! Is this your friend's first time doing Fringe?
@@Kakibot Yes! She's having a really great year. She got into Fringe and won her first State Arts Grant as a solo performer.
@@cucachoo that’s so neat!! Will need to look the show up .)
Thanks for the tips! \o/
Thanks so much! We are returning to Fringe after 5 years. And its our 3rd Fringe. Great insights.
I'm coming to Edinburgh in august! Thank you for all the advice about fringe, I'll definitely have to go see a show while I'm there 😊
❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊Thank you
So great, thank you.
Thank you ❤
As someone who has lived in Edinburgh since 2020, I've managed to avoid the Fringe carnage ever since. But maybe this year I should try to be courageous and go to a comedy show or something.. 👀
Also, Edinburgh Deaf Festival takes place 9 - 18 August, it's a sister event to Fringe and has lots of events for BSL users.
p.s: I spotted you and Simon (and said an awkward hi) at Edi Pride, hope you enjoyed! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
We remember! Thanks for saying hi :)
Ooooh it did click for me later that it was you, the special guest from my last video! .D 🏳️🌈
I am not sure if that's my neurospiciness or what, but Fringe sounds like something extremely exciting and extremely overwhelming at the same time xD
One day i'll have to come and check ;)
It’s the same for me 🫥 like… oh boy, so much stimulation! But also.. OH NO SO MUCH STIMULATION.
This is such a good description I FELT IT 😂😂😂
How did I not know about Pollok Country Park in Glasgow? Definitely putting “go hang out with the coos” on my stuff to do when I’m trying to get away from Fringe this year list 😅
Can also recommend Braid Hill in Morningside (my local) as great breathing space within Edinburgh - it’s just far enough away to miss most of the Fringe insanity but still a quick Lothian bus trip.
RIGHT? It's so good, especially on a sunny day. So much space to just lounge around feeling like a 19th century picnicker!
Attending Fringe has been on my bucket list and this year we will finally be there from the 23rd -26th. Can't wait. Is it worth it to become a 'Friend of the Fringe'? We are a group of 6 and one person has mobility issues and one has hearing issues. Anything you can add about how to handle those things? And I'm ordering my book now. Many thanks.
There's some bananas shows coming up this year, can't wait to see them :) What shows do you all want to see?
Veer Das! He won an emmy for his TV show and though he's probably more relevant for the desi population, he's pretty good!
Sadly I won't be here for the Fringe this year, but if I were, I would 100% go see Foil, Arms and Hogg's new show, "Skittish". I saw "Hogwash" last year and it was one of the best nights of my life! ^^
And I don't know if Sheep Soup are doing another show, but "House of Life" last year was epic!
My nephew is part of a show in the Fringe this year!
Is that so? What sort of show is it? .)
@@Kakibot it's called Silly Little Bits on the 22nd to 25th August not sure of the location. A last minute entry I think.
He says it was not his choice of name😂🏴🦄🏴🦄
@@Kakibot it's in the Royal Scots Club Abercromby Place I will put the link to the Web page up once it is on the Fringe website. Ignore this venue changed!!!
Taking notes 📝
Thanks for your helpful videos. As cruise passengers with one day in Edinburgh Saturday August 17th, do you think the hop on hop off bus tours will still be able to operate in the central city?
Check out Burn Banter Live…Scotland’s poet discussed in detail with lots of fun and laughs. Free at the Pear Tree…well worth an hour of your time.
Although Mythos:Ragnarok is not high art, it is still a good time, so yes, I would recommend.
I'm so intrigued! 🤔
I second this! And the performers are some of the most committed to flyering on the Royal Mile, and very sweet and fun to talk to (which is wild after seeing them roaring and smashing each other the night before.)
Would highly recommend Solve it Squad and Godfather Death
Hey Kat :) Would love to have you in our show as well, if you are looking for something to watch (again round dating, ahah)
SunDate Roast is our show same venue with your friend, but at SUrgeon's Hall. We can't wait to watch BURNOUT
Any local advice re' finding acts other than relying on the comedians we're already aware of? Do we just take a punt on a random, or is there a source for pre-reviews buzz?
Unfortunately I believe the first couple of days it's just a bit of hit-or-miss - what I usually do is if something sounds interesting I will look it up online to see if I can find some clips or reviews, hoping I will find some unexpected gold!
In the past I've had a lot of luck with international acts, perhaps it's because for someone to invest this much money to travel and stay, they usually have to be at least a little bit established already, even if they are completely unheard of in the UK!
@@Kakibot Brilliant idea - Never considered that... though was how my great-grandad used to choose his bets for horse-racing, i.e. who's travelled furthest to get to the track.
Hello beautiful and nice contry wenderful people ❤
Always confuses me at the fringe when you walk past lesser-known actors/comedians and end up thinking "Wait do I know them? Did I work with them, or maybe an old neighbour?"
Right!? The line between “do I know them from the Scotmid checkout” and “did this person have a small recurring role on Scrubs” is very thin for my brain.
Not just lesser-known... Saw Peter Capaldi, but he was wearing a bunnet (yeah, that's my excuse)... "Is it him? Can't be, surely"... and he was gone.
Wheelchair accessible,.. simply because some of the funniest people ride such vehicles, the police ain’t stopping you after two bottles of Scottish whiskey, as I’m about to hit the stage with my head, and eat that mic, bit by bit
