You dont take one thing about "the other native nations": You going to play because you are from Mexico or any other ibero-american nation. Plot twist: also works for which play as the spanish/new spain.
Teutonic Order: You consider yourself an "identitarian." Welsh: You want to clear the map in 15 turns or less with absolutely no challenge whatsoever. Irish: You want revenge for the Troubles and to drown in money rather than booze.
@@MelkorGG I was looking for a challenge, but I ended up over-preparing and had no problems defeating the spanish with 2 times more troops than them. I never even played the spanish.
When I played vanilla M2TW I chose Spain, and even it was stupid hard, I still chose spain in RTW. Maybe because my country was colonized by spain in the past, that's why I'm drawn to that faction.
You're missing out not playing the Apache They have a super fun campaign. Rough early on but their tech tree is insane--especially when you max it out. You can field entire full doomstacks of Mounted Thunder Braves without so much as a dent in your economy and it's the most beautiful thing ever.

@@ПетрВрангель-т8п nonsense! I played as the Mayans! I defeated the Spanish, and then the Aztecs! I got a bit confused about what to do next though... :/ Pretty much allied with everyone else with nowhere left to expand into.
The only reason I played the crusades campaign was because of the Kingdom of Heaven movie. Normally I would just play as the Spanish in the Americas and mow down the natives.
If you play Antioch you can go full historical nerd and roleplay as the County of Edessa. Give Antioch, Aleppo and Krak de Chevaliers to Jerusalem, make Edessa the capital and recruit mostly troops related to Edessa. That makes for a nice defensive game.
I love playing as the Chichimeca Tribes because I’ve got some Chichimec ancestry in me. Besides, their capital Zacatecas is the only place I’ve ever visited that’s been depicted on a Total War Map. That and Tolocan, the rebel settlement between the Tarascans and the Aztecs.
I really love playing the native factions in the Americas campaign. It's challenging and taking down heavy cav is really fun. You just need about 3 spear units for every cav unit they have. Snare and surround then send in the heavies. It's also fun to play super aggressively. There's no time for pausing and carefully arranging battle lines, you just throw giant death balls of units around to just run the enemy over with the sheer weight of the charge.
I actually went into the "Britannia" campaign and played as the welsh from the start, was actually fairly enjoyable. In MTW2 i liked playing as Venice until the being spread a little thin on both fronts once the mongols invaded, and also timrids. Other factions i generally pick and play are HRE, Milan, Moors. Haven't played Teutonic in depth or Americans/crusades. Also i do like playing as an underdog every now and then.
I play Venice all the time. I tend to not start any wars. The Byzantines declare war on me for me. Then I pretty much take them over. Then the Holy Roman Empire declares war on me. And so I take them over also. Then my pretty, delicate little Venetian Empire... No longer looks very pretty, or very delicate, or very little anymore. If anything, it starts to look like a bit of a monstrosity. A combination of the Venetian Empire, the Byzantine Empire and the Holy Roman Empire. After that, it's usually the French who come down. The Danish fall soon after that. When the Mongols come, divide and rule works quite well. They have strong troops and strong generals. But they are only strong when they are together. But they want cities. As soon as they start to take cities, they start to divide up. Then, I get my generals to gang up on their isolated generals in the cities and take them down, one by one by one. The Timurids suffer a similar fate at my hands. Ah, yes! The Milanese! They are quite annoying. But they usually go down soon after the French. The Sicilians declare war on me, and then they go down. I think you get the idea. I eventually take the UK, the Iberian Peninsula, go West to the Americas, I take over the Middle East, and go South to Timbuktu. I also go East through Poland and Hungary and take down Russia. I think it's about everything after that.
Apache: You want to be the Mongols of America. Seriously, when you get horses you can just spam doom stacks of horse archers that the other natives have no counter to. This is in part due to the ludicrously low upkeep cost of all apache troops.
As a Welsh person, my other favourite factions are also the Romano Britons in Barbarian invasion and Britons in Rome total war purely because they are the ancestors of the modern day Welsh. In Welsh law, your favourite faction in a video game has to be a Welsh one
@@MelkorGG Antioch has exclusive units to them, like Holy Seplecur, Edessan guard, and Marshall of the Hospitallers, and Edessan Squires. Jerusalem only has 2 units that are unique.

Actually whenever I play as the Teutonic I blitz lithuania in like 8 turns and then wind up in a war of attrtrition against novgrod after getting stalled at their capitals gates around turn 30, often as I fight them also I try to take out denmark too, but their fortess's just draw suppliles away from the main fight, as soon as I am through with conquoring novgrod and dealing with Denmark around turn 40 the HRE and everyone else declares war on me and my beligured armies get pushed back, only to strike out at turn 50-60 and win the campaign.
In crusade, I play Byzantium, in teutonic, I play as Lithuanian, in british isles, I play Scotland, in americas, I play either the Apache or the Spanish. Btw, I like to play as rome and carthage in RTW
I enjoyed the early and mid Mongol game in Teutonic. It is a high risk, high reward scenario. (Their generals also have zero loyalty and cannot really be deployed) But once they start getting some new generals and armies together, their roster is still largely unbeatable.
