If I had a nickle for every time I saw a video of people playing this game and calling them a couple I would have two nickels
So, from a writer's perspective, it is much easier to make your protagonist underconfident and cringefail because it's easier to just make them go where they're pushed. When the protagonist in a oneshot game is a passive observer instead of someone with branching pathways of wants and goals, the game is much simpler and easier to make, and can be cohesive much easier because when you give a player a goal and strong motivations, they're gonna want to pursue those things in varying ways and be much more easily frustrated when the method they want to use to acheive those goals and express those motivations simply does not appear. But if you establish that the protagonist is some awkward dork who doesn't really know what they're doing, then it's a lot easier for a player to say 'Okay, yeah, both of these answers seem equally fun and valid, and either way, I'm following the current of the plot here.'
At least that's my take on this emergent pattern. Based upon 2 data points and my anecdotal writing/visual novel experience.
Ash unironically makes a really good Tails voice. Every other character is played in a more memey sort of way but Ash's tail is actually pretty good.
Also, I can't be the only person who the intro of GTLive reminds him of Naruto Shippuden's Silhouette opening song, right?

The Naruto music was unintended and was pointed out by a fan years ago. Since then, it's been a community meme.
3:28 Yes, that was actually canon before this game. It was, I believe, first established in Sonic X, where Sonic liked to sleep on roofs.
One of my favorite moments was when, in episode 43, people all over the city wanted to be like Sonic, even adults, and so everyone got on their roofs and slept up there like him. It was just like a sea of houses with people lying on top of them. It was an experience.

28:48 No, I really do appreciate that you’re starting to notice that the writing a virtual novels typically functions this way, and it really is from what I can tell the writers thinking of the only people who want to play this or nerdy, awkward people who couldn’t function in the real world it’s very insulting, and it’s very refreshing when they give us a proactive protagonist who actually isn’t worried and scared all the time, but good luck finding those stories
to be fair, most virtual novels that portray protagonists as such, are the dating sim ones... And if you're unironically playing dating sims, then more likely than not you're actually like that

Yep. Even his comment about the current state of the franchise being at its lowest (when it's actually at a historic high) was a good barometer for how the rest of the gaming community feels. So not taken as a slight, but more like an honest oblivious off the cuff trueism.

@@blunderingfool oh I know a lot of people aren't playing it, but for the first time since SA1 a sonic game got over a million sales and is closing in on 2. Frontiers might be the best selling game in the franchise in a few years due to the constant updates too.

Huh... I'm really surprised MattPat didn't notice the type of lock that was on the door. There's no way Shadow could have put that lock on the door if he walked back through the door. I love the Professor Layton series! You should definitely play them if you get the chance. The crossover is amazing and I definitely recommend it as well.

Professor Layton & the Curious Village was my first DS game I bought with my own money. For a while, Layton games were my bread & butter.
