Thank you. I've had a Santa wall hanging in a bag for two year now because I didn't know how to complete it. Thanks to you I now can. Hooray 😊
Hi Frances. So glad to help. Regards Clare
This tutorial helped me and this is how I do my curved rugs.
Thank you.
Just so you know, your video is the only one I could find on how to finish a circular latch hook rug! Thank you!
Glad I could help Laura. Regards Clare
Thank you so much for your tutorial! I've been making rugs for years and NEVER attempted a shaped rug since I had no clue how to bind them. Very nicely done!
Hi Carol. Thank you so much. Any shape can be bound you just need patience and confidence!
Thank you so much. Your taking the time to show us how you bind you rug was very very helpful for me and such a nice job you made of .
Hi Fran. Thanks so much. Glad to help. Clare x
Lovely rug and nice finish
Thank you for sharing this! I've been looking for a how-to about how to properly bind and finish off a hook rug; my mother used duct-tape when I was growing up and I didn't realize there was a different method until I was on Herrschners website and saw the finishing kits. I've tried three different searches to find finishing methods that included the binding tape and finally found your video. Thanks again!
Also, your citrus rug pattern? So cute! My brother's kitchen is citrus themed, I know he would love to have this in it. I'll be checking your website in hopes you sell the pattern.
You are very welcome. Glad you found me! Regards Clare
Brilliant Clare, love how you swap from inches to cm at different stages! x
Debbie Bosco Whoops! My excuse is I am a child of the time when metric was being introduced and we had to know both!
All I needed to know. Thank you so much
Wonderful tutorials. I'm making a gift for my niece and found myself stuck after finishing the hooking! You are a wonderful teacher, thank you for taking the time to make these videos!
+Kate Guanci Hi Kate. Thank you so much for your kind comments. Glad to be of assistance. Clare x

I wish I had seen this video when I had to do the backing of the latch hook tree skirt I made. The front part looks fine, but the backing was a mess. I'm going to try to see if this works with the new tree skirt I'm making.
Hi Hilda. So pleased I could help. Regards Clare
Thank you, this video was really helpful. Excellant.
+Dawn Bacon Hi Dawn. Thank you so much and glad to help. Clare x

Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I've completed hooking a round Christmas tree skirt and now I know how to bind the outside edge. Would you suggest just reversing the process to bind the edge of the hole in the center that goes around the tree trunk?
Hi Martha. You are exactly right, you just reverse the process. So glad to be of help. Clare x
That's a very pretty rug! And your directions are so easy to follow! Thought I have a quick question. How do you add extra canvas to your work? I started making a rug for my dining room and half way through we bought a new dining table and I realised that my finished work is going to be smaller than what I wanted
Hi Oana-Gabriela. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. It is very easy to add more canvas to a project. Of course it must be the same canvas (holes per inch). Then you just over lap by at least 4 holes and latch hook through the double canvas. These knots will need an extra hard tug to keep them the same length as the others. Normally I would recommend that canvas is joined before you start hooking but of course in your case this is not possible. This is done by either machine stitching with a zig zag stitch two rows over the bars of canvas or it can be done by hand using a whipping stitch over the canvas bars. This way you don't have to hold it while trying to hook. If you can hand stitch your canvas, I would try as it will make it easier for you. Hope this helps. Regards Clare
That was exactly what I was looking for. A perfect tutorial. I don't know if this rug binding ribbon can be found here in Brazil. What could I use instead? What about the thread, is it nylon or cotton? Congratulations on all your videos.
Hi Anny. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. The thread I like to use is a strong linen thread but a good strong cotton one will do. I think that any kind of tape could be used as binding as long as it doesn't fray and is strong. Clare x
Could you do a video on how to make a latch hook tea cozy?
Hi Georgina. Not sure I have time at the moment and I have never really thought about doing one. Why don't you have a go, it could be fun? xx
Do you need to put a rug backing on for a no slip on latch hook rugs?
Hi There. I like to use a Spray on backing which then secures the yarn strands as well as providing a non slip back. Regards Clare
When you did the outer edge, you only stitched through the canvas, not the yarn. Why did you stitch through the yarn as well when you did the inner edge?
Hi Larry. I do catch the yarn on both the inner and outer edge of the binding, making sure not to go through to the front.
When I'm latch hook round canvas, do I turn the canvas, as I latch hook it?
Hi Cynthia. You work in rows just like you would with any shape of latch hook project. You always hook over the parallel bars of the canvas strands and do not change direction as the knots will then lie in a different direction and spoil the look of your work. Hope this helps. Regards Clare
