Roger and Rafa will be doing this one-day too 😭
Roger might not, looks like he could play forever
Edit: came back a year later, Roger career looks like it’s almost over (another knee surgery) 😔
Maybe I think roger wants to play with the kids and be a family man
At least outside of the clay season, when Rafa will still be picking up titles...
@@GoDawgs18 He’s coming back!!! There’s hope, a year later 😭
I hope so
McEnroe may not run as fast as he used to but damn he can still volley like a badass
He's probably playing the highest level tennis anyone 50+ ever has, although it will be interesting to see how Federer plays in 15-20 years if he hangs around on the seniors circuit
and lob well, too!
Great point Ian. Best 50+ player in the world.
He's more like 60- than 50+ 😉
Nice to see him against Stich who, talent-wise, was the closest thing to the FedMac galaxy I've ever seen on a court...
Not 60 yet.
Mc Enroe can lob mad
Best match of 2018 for sure
He aged very well still very fit for his age.
Hairline seemed to hold on better than his father and what I would have expected too lol.
I too, have aged well
I think Michael Stich is one the most underrated players ever. He played so flawless when he was on, like Wimbledon 1991 or when he beat Muster at french open 1996. IMO he is talentwise up there with Federer, Nalbandian etc. And even this is an exhibition his elegance still is to see - thanks for the opload.
He is no where close to talent level as federer and nalbandian...
Thats your point- fair enough. But I remember Pete Sampras once said that if everyone played their best, then Stich was the best. @@SuperBigserve
@@kongvolmer1940 It was Jim Courier, who said this, and he was right. Highest technical level and combination of service, speed and volleys !
Bruh, McEnroe is 3 times older than me and could easily whoop my ass 6-0 6-1.. smh
You really think you'd get a game? I haven't seen you play, but I seriously doubt it. An exhibition was arranged many years ago between Rod Laver and a decent amateur player in Boston. They played a set and the guy didn't get a point.
I honestly don't think I could even get a point off McEnroe....maybe if I get lucky with an ace or if he took pity on me!
Are you any good?
I have a pretty fast serve and that's it haha.
Of course the 1 game is due to chance man. I ain't gonna completely demoralize myself for the sake of depicting how good McEnroe is haha.
One needs to remember that the best win-loss ratio of 82-3 for a male senior player, since the Open Era began ( 1968 ), dates all the way back to 1984. That incredible achievement and record ( still ) belongs to one John McEnroe.
Connors 97-4
@@albertoartuso80 : I preferred McEnroe. He was better liked than Connors, who came across as being rude. And unfriendly. McEnroe played Davis Cup, Doubles, and Singles. McEnroe had his weaknesses, but he also brought something to the game.
@@Orion3741 I think both of them were not too friendly at that time....
@@anseinueseima408 : Ok.
I hope to see another Agassi vs Sampras.
I guess I'm showing my age. I love watching former Champions play friendly matches like this later in life. Awesome that both can still play some excellent tennis!
Stich hasn't aged a day! And McEnroe would still thrash Serena Williams. Not disparaging Serena but mac was right. He would win easily.
Me too.
This really put a smile on my face for some reason. Loved to see these legends out there playing hard and having a good time. Lovely to see some quality net play too.
Lovely camaraderie between McEnroe and Stich, who teamed up for the Doubles version of the game, at Wimbledon 1992. And in 5 hours and 19-17 in the 5th and final set, won the final.
That match started on Saturday and ended on MONDAY. Peter Fleming had retired and McEnroe teamed with Stich. Big Mac made any player automatically better in doubles.
@@jonrobles1468 In his day the best singles player and the best doubles player - a very rare achievement. A magnificent player and, along with Federer and to a lesser extent Nastase, the most naturally gifted player I've seen.
I am from the extreme south of India where TV was unknown till the Delhi Asian games in 82.The first ever tennis match that I watched was McEnroe vs Connors a Wimbledon final which Connors won.Its still etched in memory so very fresh.Over these years was fortunate to watch Becker win his 1st Wimbledon Famous Rivalries Martina Vs Crissie.Steffie vs Monica Sanchez.Aggasi Sampras Becker Edberg.Roger Djo Nadal and the Gen next Gosh sound like a dinosaur. McEnroe to me ranks amongst the very very best.Loved his outbursts. What a player and record both in singles and doubles. Its such a delight to watch these stalwarts play at this level at this age.God bless
looks like they are really good friends as I haven't seen mac show such friendship at the end of a match when he lost
Yeah they were doubles partners and I heard they’d get shitfaced in the bars together. Probably got to be good friends while they were partying.
I think that qualifies as the tiniest trophy I've ever seen for an event that size LOL
yeah and considering that stich is not small at all
Ashes
Tennis is such a magnificent sport. A sport that you can play til your 80-90 years old.......IF you take care of yourself with consistent exercise, stretching and eating healthy food with lots of water.
It's so nice to see two legends playing a good tennis , living their lifes and being happy !
McEnroe is always gonna be the man. He just has it.
Mac!! That volley technique has everything to do with confidence. Nobody’s as comfortable up there as he is. It’s remarkable to watch him work 💪🏾
Only John McEnroe can afford himself to drink beer during a tennis match....
"Nur John Mcenroe kann es sich leisten, währen eines Tennismatches Bier zu drinken"....
I was there....wonderful weather and match
Stichs' backhand in his prime was amazing! Comparible to maybe Grafs' forhand!
You should do more videos like this.
I think Michael Stich slowed down the rhythm of the game, finally he's ten years younger than McEnroe.
Roland Hersan John didn't also played not too serious.....
What a cool video. Two great champions.
I still love watching these guys play.
Legends that still have it!
He said at 60 he'd still stand a chance against Serena and the SJWs got all outraged and cried chauvinism and misogyny.
They clearly have not seen his exhibition matches.
I think he'd win 4 out of 5 matches vs Serena.
Well he did admit its more of a tossup now! Whereas when he was say 45 or even 50, Serena has 0 chance. Now, I’d say it’s maybe even 50-50. Of course at this point, what are we trying to pretend we’re proving? That a wta player might beat SIXTY year old Mac?? Of course someday any wta player will beat mac if we wait long enough! Lol. When mac is 90 even the women’s college players will beat him - so what? :-)
@@datacipher We are proving that the WTA tour is low quality.
Marcus Fredriksson read what I said. If Mac beats Serena yes it proves low quality - which anyone who knows tennis already knew. If he loses, all it proves is that a 60 year old man can’t beat the dominant wta player - that proves nothing for the other side (except that Mac is indeed 30 years past his prime) - but they will claim it proves something.
datacipher Serena lost to a guy ranked like 100🙄
I really utterly respect them. I could not even do over 2 hours in a row. I glad to watch this one thanks much
That front cover feels like a gay hug
Lol it looks like they were going to kiss
unowen7591 lmao
LMAO NO DOUBT MAKES YOU FEEL A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE RIGHT??
Or maybe you have your head in the gutter all the time.
Gertrude yeah problly ur head is in the toilet for ur whole life.
I know John doesn't have the # of slams that the big 3 have, but he is one of the greatest players of all time. In my mind he's still got the best tennis season of all time, and that's saying a lot with Roger Federer's 2005, 2006, 2007 and Novak's 2011 and 2015.
Absolutely true. There are myriad reasons for this some personal some professional. But it's All Good. We all know the Truth.
Superbrat of tennis forever - John McEnroe and silky smooth efficient German engine - Michael Stitch
Tennis used to be a lame sport for me to watch or play, till I tried it because of my younger sister who was involved in tennis team in her high school and needed a practice partner during off season. I can't explain how entertained I felt watching this two guys play.
Two comments: 1. I'm so glad that these guys stay with their passion for them and us to enjoy. 2. I don't feel so guilty about my footwork now after watching these two.
Mcenroe is such a legend
What a match
both playing very well
If Mac still plays this well at his age imagine what Federer will look like at 60
0:11 Under appreciated shot. Stich is an incredible talent.
Amazing these guys can still fill an arena. I wonder if there was a marquee match before or after them. Either way, many stayed the entirety of the match, incredible!
Stich was the tournament director of the German Open in his hometown Hamburg from 2009 to 2018. And he always opened the tournament with a match against an old rival. People even had to buy extra tickets to see these matches, and it was almost sold out every year.
Mcenroe injured his back in 85 and was never the same player again as his game demanded exceptional footwork, first step to the ball to take it on the rise and split stepping for volleys. After 84 where he only lost 3 matches, he never won another grand slam and because his back prevented him.
John Mcenroe had a tennis mind like nobody else he rushed the net more than anybody else way more a lot weigh more especially in his younger days he knew angles had a good serve it was nobody like him Kudos Johnny
Both are very good serve and volley player.
Damn look at that backhand 0:58
Spiel, Satz und Sieg, Stich! Wow, haven’t heard that a while!
This is Mad
Old days
Stich is often forgotten tennis player. Always felt he should have won more.
In Germany he is the biggest Tennis legend right after Boris Becker, but way ahead of Haas, Zverev etc. (By the way: Stich, Haas and Zverev are all from Hamburg)
Legends ....
Michael Stich....I still have his poster when I was in the 90s...he hasn't changed much though.
The talent, amazing
Sei un grande john....mio idolo...lunga vita😘😘
That's the that's probably the thing that stands out the most his Instinct was always I mean like almost always rush the net which nobody else has ever done like him
McEnroe is genius of the history of tennis.
0:30 Just WOW! McEnroe with magic hands...
McEnroe still has the touch. :) :) Great match!
相変わらずシュティッヒのフォーム・プレースタイルカッコイイなー。
Noone wants a 'matured' John McEnroe. He is perfect the way he is ! Respect for both legends from India. Last time I saw you two on court, I was not even a teenager.
Mac is so damn cool...with the nirvana tee at the end like a boss
Best over 50 player in the world. Think about that.
Nice to see Stich enjoying tennis. Hard to believe that a player of his caliber almost gave up pursuing a career in tennis during his college years. He probably still serves into 120 mph easily. One of the best servers in tennis history with an effortless motion. Please do not compare these guys with WTA players. If you are in doubt, find clips in youtube where old retired male players playing mixed doubles with active top-tier WTA players. The gap between them is more than noticeable. These old timers are much better than they appear. I believe that Mac won an ATP double title in his 50s. Then again, why would you compare male and female? They are built differently.
So GEIL anzuschauen!!!!!
There is a reason why McEnroe have won 77 single titles and 78 in doubles.
Fun to see those names up there. It'll be interesting to see Federer and Nadal at 60 doing the same.
Hey John , the Nirvana T-shirt looks great on you , McEnroe - the one and only Tennis Rebel.
It’s funny that the could probably beat WTA players outside the top 100 and even a few inside just off their power on serve and at net.
Nathan Lifska Whats even more funny is your ignorant comment, come on, have you see him running? Lets be serious.
adrian pintos It’s not ignorant, they could beat venus Williams if your determined on running. Or Karolina Pliskova. Seriously, theyd blast the women off the court.
Nathan Lifska Obviously youve never played high level tennis in your live. Stick to the youtube comments then, but dont expect me to take you serious.
Life#
adrian pintos Neither has mostly anyone in these comments, you’re point. Serena Williams lost to a world 600 6-1, and he was only going easy. I play tennis and I can hit shots faster than players on the WTA, all you have to do is insert the butt cap in the racquet that gives you shot speed results, I hit a 120kph ball, faster than anything Radwanska would hit, it’s embarrassing. Ofcourse McEnroe wouldn’t beat any WTA players, but he wouldn’t be far off versing Someone in WTA ranked 1000
McEnroe might not be the greatest tennis player of all time but might be one of the most important for the game. True Legend.
Your wrong, he is.
9 years difference but John still doing great.
Legend
Jeez they've still got it...
Amazing to see my "Heros" again 💪👍😅
Old school 😁👍
Few Days before that Match Stich was inducted to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport
No, it was a few hours after he was inducted. Stich just returned from Newport to Hamburg, and went straight from the airport to the Tennis stadium.
At 1:39 it literally look like time stops for a second. I know amazing players can make that happened for them, but I didn't know they could make it happen for the audience.
Beautiful 🤩
My god, the place is packed! Which Head racquet does John use?
I'm interested in the same information.
Interesting
It looked like an actual retail graphene touch radical
Respect
What is the trophy representing? I'd love to watch the whole damn match. They were really good friends and dubs partners for a time.
At 59 years of age McEnroe still plays better than some of todays professionals. Form is temporary, Class is permanent!
Ever in this match
2:08 might just be the best grunt I've EVER heard.
McEnroe is a joy.
lovely
Has there ever been anyone better at the net than McEnroe?
No
Edberg would be pretty close, and probably superior on the backhand volley.
No.
It's like 1985 again.
Wow 👏🤩👍🎾
Sublime 😄
The man with the golden wrist. :-)
That was more enjoy that the mathes that actually active players
Friendship
Good lord their tennis slowed down so much...understandable of course
John will be out there in his 70s
Love the McEnroe
3:40 McEnroe with his NIRVANA t shirt 🤘🏻😂
2.18....genio
You can play this game into your 80s.
00:41 my grandpa celebrating everything went great in the restroom ☝🏻👇🏻🙏🏻
People with 3 UTRs in the comments out here saying they gon beat McEnroe 😂. While all the 8,9, and 10 players know they wouldn’t stand a chance.
McEnroe’s skills are still there, just a little bit slower.
Salut auf John McEnroe. 🤟🤟
