This is my bike!!! For everyone wondering It’s as terrifying as it looks! 😂😂😂 it has a 28t on it now (changed it very shortly after this version) and it’s even MORE terrifying 😂 I wear full gear and a helmet don’t worry 🤓
Finally the video for your bike is up. Think I still have mine geared higher than yours now that you changed that crank gear out. I am definitely throwing less power at the wheel though. Totally had to mangle a chainlink into a half link with how much my chains been stretching but taking out a link made it tighter and let me pull the rear wheel in by a mil or so, now I just hope it holds tell it stretches a tad more so I can pull the tire all the way into the forks and take the half link out then the chain should be perfect tell it snaps probably.
@@Mrandroiduser can’t wait for you to see the next project lol. The 150 miles I’ve put on this have taught me I NEED suspension and some bigger wheels 😂 can’t wait to have 2 videos on this channel :)
@@alnaastora6175 yeah I feel ya on the no suspension. I may also pull another build together more based for off-roading but the next bike im thinking about is still a 20" bmx but with full suspension ever seen the 'We the People' swamp master. Its spicy with a spicy price tag but I think I got a bonus coming up at work and I could always swap the tongshen over but I think the torque and gearing may be to much so don't think thats the best option may look at the cyc pro or stealth for this one or maybe bafang I hear that theres a new middrive model coming out with torque sensing from them.
Congratulations for surviving 150 miles... Respect. But, Please for the love of god take this bike apart. Unless of course your only riding in sk8 parks and have FULL kevlar. You are an absolute legend. Open it up full, slam on the rear brake, then go back and measure the skid mark. That is your stopping distance... "No Fear."
Great job Johnny! Must be a blast to ride. PS. Hi Michael and Victor below. Johnny of all people understands gearing. No question he built this BMX for high speed cruising 😀 Combo of 20 in tire and low weight, as long as you don't hammer the throttle, no doubt it won't strain the BBSHD much.
I built 2 DIY bafang bikes 2 years ago using info from this channel. I cannot recommend enough if you can, building your own. I can repair anything wrong with my ebikes. I have friends who bought ebikes and now can't get service or parts easy because of the flood of different ebike makers. And if you run into problems or have questions you can schedule a talk with johnnynerdout and get answers to your questions/problems.
Too small for this creaky old man but boy is that cool. Must be a little wheelie machine. Love that you can fit 8ah in that saddle bag. An awesome whip but I hope that poor motor won't do much hill climbing with that high gearing. I'd go for the Lekkie ring but get the biggest cog I could find (sacrifice a couple of mph but get better wheelies & less stress on the motor).
Couple of us built ebmx bikes at the same time and were all talking about it over on the ebike sub reddit. Seems like some spur of the moment itch for us guys that are around our 40s 😆 the whole ebmx thing seems to be finally popping off with some pre-built things like the chimera and what not. I dont really feel like they really hit that bmx market though allot of us like to build a bike plus frame sizes and stuff sorta matter when a bike is that small and light. Really need the right geometry for your height on a bmx
Use a rear cassette. I had a 20inch bmx style with a rear cassette. 36mph top speed on flat road. 52T lekkie front, 11-36 rear climbed hills easy I did get a 28t front and it's basically a metal goat in that set-up.
Isn’t that kind of hard on the motor with such tall gearing? I’m surprised you didn’t put a 16-20t cog on the rear. Even with my 42/20t gearing, I can hit 30 mph. Pedaling can’t keep up, but under throttle
This bike has actually gone through some revisions since this was filmed. I decided to put a 28t lekkie on there and it’s much much softer on the motor and it’s only 2mph shy of 30mph on flat :)
Ya. I have the same motor. I’m running a 42 tooth on the front, and an 11 to 34 on the back. I hit about 50 km an hour at 22 or smaller in the rear. On throttle, of course. With peddling I top out at around 40. I’m just ghost peddling after that and I have my motor tuned to cut off once I hit 80 RPM. Cool to hear from the owner. Hope you love your bike!
Im doing this to my 24 inch dk general Lee, I need help I want it to go 35mph and have 30 mile range , I know nothing about e bikes lol but im willing to pay someone that does
Right I rock a 52v 10ah battery in a little saddle bag for my tongshen middrive kit. I was starting my little bmx project the same time the owner sent his to Johnny. Mines a bit lower powered and not running a throttle was planning to do it but think my wiring harness is junk tried 2 and neither worked but been really enjoying it with just pas so probably won't add a throttle. Still fast bike though easily cruise at 25-30mph and average about 30miles in range on that little battery if all im doing is cruising around at 15-20mph. ua-cam.com/video/NJEWqdyO71Y/v-deo.htmlsi=TSLju1Da96MPt5ST My little hot rod.

It's ok we weren't worried about what you're wearing as you're not Jake from state farm

What does a conversion like that cost? Would love to get one of my bmx bikes electric!
Hey, was just wondering if you sell 36v batteries cause i had a look on your website and couldn't find any, unless im blind
I don’t ☹️

Hi thanks for this video. Do you use a mid bb to threaded conversion to fit the bbshd?
Sorry just re watched
This is sick!!! Now I want to see it out at Fear and Loaming doing some downhill and shuttling back up.

Is it possible to build a bafang e motor on a SE Fast Ripper 29er BMX? thanks 😊
Yes
@@JohnnyNerdOut cool! Thanks!
Good to hear that it is only 40 lb, even with a bafang HD. Guess the bike and battery are small. Ppp
This is a seriously cool build, I love it. I might have to copy it but with a lower gearing to cruise at 20mph for better range and hill climbing.

It's funny you posted this a few days after Lectric updated their Lectric XP lite
Why not put a CYC 1500 watt light motor.
Who need’s brakes?

So..What bout sending U All the Parts and U Can Build It and Ship It back lol..Wonder how much 💵 to Charge for jobs like that
We do it all the time. We stock all the parts so we only need to ship it all once it’s all done 😀

no way that chain survives on that drive train. look into shadow interlock supreme chain
"kids bike"? This is america, isn't it? Aren't ALL bikes just toys for kids?
40 lbs for that seems heavy for what it is
It’s a chromoly frame so it’s quite heavy compared to an aluminum bike
halfway through the volume died
