When people complain about Behringer clones, they're talking about current products that other companies are still producing like the Keystep, DFAM, etc. Both of these pedals are long out of production.
Use to have the MoogerFooger ring modulator, it was a favorite and I’m still sad I had to sell it (desperate times). I had it set up just like you guys did with an expression pedal controlling frequency, so I could have a warm variable rate tremolo or do little noise sweeps. Btw, just for anyone who’s unfamiliar with how ring modulation works, it really is just a tremolo effect, but then sped up fast enough to become its own audio wave. So you’re essentially vibrating your original sound at the speed of whatever pitch the knob is set to. At lower mixes this will come across more like an overtone, at higher mixes it can overpower the original sound entirely. Basically, it has room to be anywhere from incredibly musical to super chaotic, depending on your needs.
I was waiting for a gutshot before buying - I used to design and build pedals, and that includes many recreations of old fuzz boxes, and I was suspicious that Warm could build so many of these and at such a low price. I have used hundreds of NOS germanium transistors including lots of OC75's and I have NEVER seen an unmarked OC75. All the ones which I have used have been black painted glass enclosures with OC75 printed on the outside. the whole point of such components is that they can be easily identified. I understand that the Chinese are producing large numbers of these components in generic capsules to be marked up as required by the purchaser. The ones in the OC75 Warm Bender look to suspiciously me like the later replacement for the OC75 - the AC128. These are far more common, and I have seen these in unmarked metal enclosures. They don't have the rarity and 'vibe' of OC75's though! In my opinion these are what we are seeing in this pedal, if not those recently manufactured. Saying all this, by far the most important factors are hfe and leakage rather than the number on the outside when it comes to germanium transistors.
The way I understand it is they sorted the oc75 by spec not labelling , so they are functionally oc75s. Warm are able to probably produce these on a budget by buying in insane bulk numbers that most boutique builders can't do
@@JimijaymesProductions I consider that 'functionally' I am Atilla the Hun - but that doesn't make it a fact. Warm Audio are intentionally 'bending' the truth to fit their narrative, and it sucks.

@@JimijaymesProductions I used to build guitar pedals for a living and know quite a lot about Germanium transistors - without provenance I would never accept that a transistor is an OC75 or OC76 - they are now very rare as NOS and there are tons of fakes out there. The ones on the Warm Audio website look nothing like OC75/76's - they are rebranding general purpose generic Ge transistors and then telling porkies about them.
@@alanhaynes418 I understand your not suggesting they have unlabbeled nos transistors that meet oc75, you are suggesting everything written on the site is lies? I honestly don't know why they'd bother if it were lies. Most sellers don't even state where they sourced their transistors mind tell a whole essay on the parts and testing and such. You might be right though, if so that's a wild thing for them to do to risk tarnishing their rep for a guitar pedal (considering their pro audio stuff is much more scrutinised).
Love these pedals! I have their Centavo & Warm Drive and they are amazing! Can’t wait to get my hands on the Warm Bender. I love that their pedals all can run of a 9V battery. A lot of new pedals only run off an external power source cable.
Well, essentially 'rate' is for the rate of one lfo, and 'frequency' is for the rate of another lfo. This is why it can modulate more slowly while also modulating so fast that it creates pitchshifting. The faster it moves, the higher the frequency. 'Modulator' is just another word for lfo. Because that's what's used in any modulation effect to create that movement. An lfo.

Put the level at about noon and attack at about 9 oclock and try out some tones there. For me, that is a pretty good sweet spot for Tonebender style fuzz pedals that I feel makes the guitar volume more dynamic especially on a Marshall style amp with a clean setting. I've got a BPC Sound LTD OC75 Tonebender MKII that I love the single note and chord characteristics when playing through the Friedman Twin Sister on a channel set to a clean sound. I've also got a MoogerFooger that I had for years and only use with an AC30 but I never used an expression pedal with it. Now I want to try...
The RingerBringer does NOT have a true bypass mode as Lee states. It is buffered bypass only! (Thus the drive control is always on... this would be impossible in a true bypass design)
I love you Lee and Pete, but could not someone who knows how to work the pedal be involved? Lol ring modulation fnar. For example, I presume one cam apply CV to the expression input for more tuneful pitching.... I would have thought the filter fooger a riper target to clone!
I've got Warm Audio's Foxy Tone Box, the Jet Phaser, and Mutation Phasor, which are nice pedals. These two I'm not so sure of. I'm having trouble hearing the practical application of the Ring Modulator and I've heard better Tone bender style sounds.

Pete is one of the most tasteful guitarists I’ve heard - but this demo doesn’t show that at all. Surprised to not hear him vary his guitar volume and the pedal level and attack to show the versatility of fuzz and this pedal. You feel sad? Absolutely no harm is being done to these inanimate objects whatsoever. Men have too many feelings thesedays. What happened to objectivity. Anyway, dry your eye and move on now you know the Amps and speakers are fine. Hope your day improves and you stop feeling sad.
@@jaaybee101 On the actual topic. As long as you aren’t trying to put something with more power than the amp/speaker can handle; I don’t think there any immediate damage it could cause. Though, cranking an amp with certain speakers, using too low a frequency, or just too loud in general, can blow it. Good speakers will usually last awhile before they blow, at least in my experience. I’ve blown a bass speaker, and a couple guitar amps, but the bass amp, was an early 70’s Ampeg combo, with the original speaker it came with. The guitar amps were cheap, and I just wore them out playing it dimed. Lee did mention they switched amps at one point, because they needed something that could handle the low end.
