Samsung recently introduced their new Galaxy Note 10 phones and disappointed many fans when they found out it no longer had a headphone jack. Now Samsung’s decision to ditch the headphone jack is quite ironic, considering they’ve been spending the last three years criticizing Apple for doing the same exact thing. So in this video we’re going to explore the path Samsung has been on the last three years that eventually led to the removal of the Galaxy Note 10’s headphone jack.
Thanks to Ting for sponsoring this video! - Наука та технологія
When you can put a whole pen in the phone but you can’t put a headphone jack.
Yes, you put a pen and now there isn't space for the jack, makes sense.
@Mister Albert there are many reasons, haptic motor, bigger battery, battery safety(you know what happened when they didn't spend time on battery safety), not just the pen, and like said in the video, most of note users used Galaxy buds so it wasn't so bad to take it off. If they take it out of the Galaxy s11 there will be a reason too.
I don’t get the pen
It’s only useful in precision drawing? And people would want to draw on such a small device? I feel like Samsung is trying to do too much for a phone.
Worst comparison
@@kneegear5123 It Is the whole point of the note series, if there wasn't a pen it wouldn't be a note phone. Note stands for the notes that you make writing, and apparently business people love pens.
I think the headphone jack was more used than the stylus on a Note
If that’s an issue, just get the s10
@glazezboy exactly it'll probably be on the s11 if I had to guess
@@mumu4L what ???
@@maurisanto7973 he's saying the headphone jack will still by on the S11 if he were to guess (I think), I am also really hoping for this outcome and it's just a "Note" thing that the jack wasn't there
Then why tf would people buy the note if they don't use the pen? Isn't that the whole point of the phone really? If not they should've gone for the S series
Wired headphones don't need battery. That's the greatest benefit.
Airpods is one of the best selling technology nowadays. Apple won.
More pros for wired headset but imo, one of the worst cons is being entangled, and also wires can be cut out.
AirPods and similar kinds of wireless headphones biggest cons can be lost when accidentally fell while on transport. I guess I’d still choose wireless, so wires won’t interrupt me.
Use short wire.
The plug and play feature is their greatest benefit!
And no latency, thats the greatest deal!
Now Samsung planning to ditch the SD card slot...🙄🙄🙄
""They're becoming everything they said they'd never become""
Lame Samsung 😒😒🙄🙄
They ditched the SD card slot in the Galaxy S6
@Ryder Ryght And to add to this, the S10+ has both that and the headphone jack!
And with the Note 9, same situation. So its not like Samsung can say they "didn't do it already". They did, they just want to sell more wireless earbuds in the most forced, inorganic way possible.
Nah man i stay with the nokia
I love Samsung but if they do this shit with all their phones they'll be dead to me. I want an ANDROID phone, not an Apple bootleg.
@@streetlightr4595 Honestly same. I've been eyeing LG as of late since they have been pretty good about adding SD card support and headphone jacks. The active pen support is a nice bonus.

Short answer: To sell more wireless earbuds
To be fair wireless earbuds are getting cheaper and cheaper every day. You can even get knock off AirPods at Five Below for $8 (yes, Five Below, $8, makes no sense)
@@gavinthecrafter but the sound quality isn't as good as wired ones. And you'll have to charge wireless earbuds and use it for like 6 hours and then you'll have to charge it again whereas you can use wired ones for longer period of time
@@imsamiurrahman yeah my dad bought 30$ nock offs and they were kinda good, it did the job but it only lasted an hour!
Even if wireless had superb sound quality, the constant recharging just to use them is annoying plus constantly running Bluetooth puts an extra drain on the battery life. Example...say a person is walking down the street with a low battery & talking to someone in an emergency but needs to be hands free, or theyre using the audio for gps and doesnt want to keep checking their phone....bluetooth drains the phone a bit quicker than wired headphones. At least on the models I've used. Not sure if they compensated for that tho. Kinda annoying I cant find a new phone with a headphone jack though.

If they get rid of headphone jack then they should include Bluetooth earbuds when you purchase the phone.
The USB-C ones that come with the Note10/10+ seem fine.
I agree that it would increase the price of the phone and for that just but them separately but the Lightning earbuds that came with my iPhone works just as fine. I really feel like Google’s more guilty of removing the headphone jack after the Pixel 2 was announced. They’ve made such a big deal about the first Pixel phone having that it made them look so obnoxiously hypocritical when they just barely made a mention of that until they brought it back in the 3A phones.
And at least with the Galaxy Fold, Samsung has an excuse as to why the headphone jack was missing since, well, it’s a freaking foldable phone! The thing has so much technology that made the Fold possible (at least at first before the major design flaws shown later in that month) that it’s made some more sense for them to remove it from that phone.
Not only that but they also included galaxy buds in the box. I would have no problem with any company removing the headphone jack if they included their own wireless earbuds in the box
If Samsung can fit an entire stylus in their phone, they can fit a headphone jack. Google aren't as bad as it was blatantly a "Please buy our pixel buds" and the headphone jack wasn't one of their marketing gimmicks for the past 3 years. They then brought back the jack for the 3a because poor people
Only the Galaxy fold is forgiven and not the note 10
Hopefully LG sees this audio market more and targets it. An audiophile market needs to happen in the phone industry. When they all go one way, go the other.
Headphones jack is important for us mobile gamer...
I use my wired headphones every day, and they are so much more convenient than wireless headphones, they take less than a second to remove it from the current device and plug it into the next one. It is such a pain connecting and disconnecting wireless devices, I've never had an enjoyable experience with wireless headphones/speakers. I can go from listening to podcasts on my iPhone (through the headphone jack) to watching a video on my Android, to playing a game on my PS4 all without removing my headphones from my head and with no fuss or irritation in trying to connect them to the next device that I want to use. I wont be buying wireless headphones, or a phone without a headphone jack because you can't make it a better experience than wired headphones.

Most moronic design choice ever. Shows a lack of passion for the brand and a clear obsession with profit.
When I tried my mother's Airpods, it made sense who the audience for the Airpods were, people who value convenience over sound quality which unfortunately comprises the majority as evidenced by people who used the included white earpods during the earlier iPod and iPhone days. I use audiophile grade gear (Sennheiser HD600 & UE TF10) and I do have a USB-C to 3.5mm DAC/Amp that I use with my computer so I've kinda had to live the dongle life just not with my mobile devices. My iPhone SE and 9.7" iPad Pro still have the headphone jack and I'm guessing that by the time I replace them, Apple will have made the switch to USB-C and I'll be doing the dongle life on the mobile front too.

After looking at the comments, let me clarify some things:
1. Samung removed the headphone jack because of marketing strategy, they remove their headphone jack due positivity on the galaxy buds, like how when iPhone 7 came out and there is Airpods available.
2. Although Samsung removed the headphone jack, the flagships of Samsung (S and Note Series), still comes with free Galaxy Buds on preorders, which is pretty cool, so no need to spend another 200 on earbuds, unlike Apple, which still sells the AirPods seperately.
3. Since Samsung has ditched the headphone jack, it is unlikely that the jack will ever come back to the S11 series due to business strategies. (Unless they are going to listen to their customers like last year, which might be unlikely).
4. The free galaxy buds on preorders is limited to selected countries on countries too, in Singapore here they gave free Galaxy Buds, and a free Galaxy Watch Active on preorders on the S10 (nice). Apple should learn from Samsung. This way, I'm pretty sure a lot of people will be attracted to Apple.
Even though I'm a Samsung fan, I admit, I made sure this was as unbiased as possible. I just want to clarify some mistakes. No hate on Apple, and No hate on Samsung. Competition is good, but removing features are terrible things. The chinese markets like Oppo, Huawei, etc. (though I don't really like them) are doing the right thing. And that includes not ditching the headphone jack on flagships.

It's simple greed. Most budget and mid range Samsung phones, which are majority of Samsung phones still have headphone jack because those users who buy those phones can't afford expensive wireless headphones, flagship phone users can be milked more by selling them expensive wireless headphones because they have buying power so companies remove headphone jack from their expensive phones and keep it in low and mid range phones.
It'll be hard to imagine a reason for removing both the CD drive and the headphone jack in devices, especially since they're so widely used, and personally, I can't remember a moment when I wished that those major components wouldn't be present just because of "more important components"; It's just like the phones back in the day that used only one port for both charging and headphones, maybe technology is moving forward but also backwards at the same time, and wireless won't ever truly replace any of these things
"i dont remember holding cd drive last time" because usb drives are superior to cd s and important point, they are not WIRELESS.
" wireless is future" my ass unless there is no superior replacement to wired headphones. Goddamn atlease they could have used a better standard instead of bluetooth.
Yeah, bluetooth is a pain in the ass!
wireless is the future? Shure, just like tablet PCs are the future of home and business computing, LMAO!
Don’t even get started about
“Wireless charging”
Where power is lost
Where your device is stuck on some thing unable to move
Where its more expensive
@@Bobspineable thats until you realise how pain in the ass bluetooth technology is
@@Bobspineable until you realize how fucking stupid you sound, plugging in takes less time than bluetooth, imagine running out of the battery, and you twat you still need to connect it to charge it but for you it is such a fucking hassle
I wouldn't have a problem with wireless headphones if you could get the same sound quality as wired headphones at the same price
Don't forget that Samsung mocks Apple for not including the charger, and they themselves, didn't even include a charger too
The real truth is that the aux port was a universal port. You could plug anything into it, not just audio output but, e g. Medical device sensor input. Still works with dongle, I guess?
Jerry tig everything said it him self if samsung really wanted the hedphone jack they had the space to do so on the note10
Last time I used a cd was 1 week ago.
Last time i used my headphone jack was 4 days ago.
First they got rid of removable batteries, Now they got rid of headphone jack's, Samsung
GO TO HELL :D
I always lose or break headphones. I need really cheap ones with a wire so I can find them, not ones I can lose easily that I'd have to spend hundreds on when I lose them (probably about once a week).
iPhone 13, they also remove screen because "Screen sold separately", samsung mock it first, and then Note 14 also without screen because "COURAGE"
Apple: No headphone Jack, notch etc
Samsung & others: *makes fun of it
Later
Samsung & others: uh... about that...
How about U where is Ur headphone jack for the iPhone X plz show me where and how
this guy went so seemlessly into his promotion at the end 😂😂 clean
I miss the CD Drive, but my desktop computer has it, even thought I only use it from time to time. I prefer a CD drive for legacy games I purchased years ago. My laptop doesn't have a CD drive since I only use it for school, so there's no need.
I still use CD/DVD on desktops and I often miss the Ethernet port on laptops.
Yes cds are great
But was it still water resistant after the headphone jack was added by that dude
I'm getting a new phone soon & I'm considering... I don't like not having the headphone jack, but like when was the last time I used wired headphones...? Idk, like a just in case thing? Bc if my headphones are outta battery, u can't use it even w/ the wire (they're Bluetooth over ears)
The problem is Apple ditches features way too early.
Monsieur Manta another excuse i see
@@LychiiMusic
No, it's the truth.
Monsieur Manta ok keep denying it and make fun of apple for no reason but this is our year.
@@LychiiMusic
Denying it? Are you serious? Apple ditches features while they are widely used by many people like for example the headphone jack. Instead of making a transition from wired earbuds to wireless earbuds by shipping the iPhone with wireless earbuds while still remain the headphone jack for another two years or so? But Apple abruptly removes the jack, still ships wireless earbuds in the case and offers wireless AirPods for 180 bucks.
I like the approach from Apple to go all wireless but in my opinion they do it wrong.
Monsieur Manta ok good point but my main 5 reasons are
1. please stop targeting apple with every move they make.
the iphone 11 is now $699 but people still go with “they are too exPEnsive”
2. don’t make fun of us and we won’t backlash.
3. honestly apple is being copied slowly with every brand following them.
4. say what you guys want but samsung can’t always be at top and apple acc upped their game.
5. when apple does something they get jumped on
when samsung copies them all the android users act like they at a business meeting talking about how samsung made the right move
it REALLY triggers me and cringe me out...
Lol apple is laughing now. Everyone's killing the headphone jack
R.i.p headphone jack 1950-2021 (it wont be dead on other brands)
But what if I lost the earphones??!! What are the other solution? I will not be able to use the earphone anymore?
Honestly this guy needs to make a samsung explained channel
