A Commander-size, optics-ready Operator with a lightweight frame is exactly what I've been wishing for, for a while now. This just moved to the top of my list.
Outstanding --buying one tomorrow! Springfield along with 10-8 have advanced their game. I own Prodigy and Ronin 10mm … Love em. Highly recommend! Thanks Hilton. Loved the summer edition of THE ARMORY. GREAT ARTICLE WITH 10-8 Performance!
I just picked my 9mm 5-in operator. Great pistol. The only issue I had out of the box was that the slide release would not lock open on an empty mag. I brought my 5in garrison for comparison, narrowed the problem down to the slide release itself. I swapped the slide release in the Operator for the one in the Garrison and fixed it.
I love your mag releases its the very first thing i swap out on a new 1911 or a 2011 got em on my staccato too the fact that i couldn't get one for a platypus last year is one of the biggest reasons i sold it
It’ll happen, it makes sense even with extra cost involved given the market demand. I’d buy a non optic ready trp .45 for fudd fun and just get the basic operator in 9 for red dot action.
The optic cut certainly makes the guns a lot more appealing. The 4.25" Operator is also a nice thing to see, especially for a LW 9mm gun. Kinda just wish they'd sell nicer billet internal models as I've been burned by their MIM parts in the past. Wishful thinking, I'm sure.
Not very likely. It most likely wouldn't be a drop in component anyway. 1911's unfortunately aren't like Glocks, you can't just swap slides from one gun to another or buy one online and drop it on. It would have to be fit to your frame and the other parts (barrel for example) would have to be fit to that new slide. If a 1911 slide you buy online just drops on without being fitted to the frame I highly doubt it'll work very well as that would indicate something wrong with the tolerances in the system.
No why would you do that to the top of the line of your 1911s frist? Do it to you lower line frist and see the response. The price of the TRP line is not cheap.
@@TheRealZJM377 Because if you optic cut the rest of the lineup but not the TRP then it takes sales away from the TRP lineup. More people buy optic cut guns these days than non. I'm guessing SFA is hoping people buy the optic guns and then when they make the TRP optic they hope people will buy it too to try and double dip.
@@ArtofHunter o ok.no I don't think so remember the TRP costs the most and is not made in real large quantity so I guess why waiting to see how the regular pistol do frist
😅Something tells me SA had a quality control problem on this operator 1911 because there are literally a thousand videos on you tube showing trigger break pull around 3.2lbs and highest I had seen before coming across yours was 4.8lbs and yours is literally 6.0lbs
I have owned and still own but do not use a 8-9 round pistol for a cary. The squeeze is not worth the juice at that price when the majority of modern pistols and potential encounters could be with hi cap opponent.
I remember not long ago when Hilton didn't recommend these Springfield 1911s because of all the MIM parts. Now Springfield is sending Hilton T&E guns for review and he makes no mention of the internal MIM parts...sad. Get a Dan Wesson 1911.
I reviewed a DW in three previous videos. My test results have been transparent in all videos and if I were trying to hide MIM parts I don't think I would have included close up photos of them all.
The video reflects a disassemble gun, showing the individual parts, the parts are clearly MIM, if you have seen his previous videos he talks about how to ID MIM parts, he didn’t say it but he’s not hiding it. The price point of the gun is also an indication that it has MIM parts,
@@tberkoff There are not precisely defined categories here. In the past, he didn't recommend using an off the shelf springfield for duty use either--because of MIM parts. After doing the reliability protocols and replacing MIM parts, he said Springfields were adequate for people looking for this specific type of use scenario. In the past, for non-serious use like just target practice at the range, he said off the shelf Springfields or anything for that matter are fine. In reality though, how many serious duty users of the 1911 are left? The 1911 is beautiful and accurate, but it is not reliable out of the box, and you really do have to do an entire protocol just to see if yours is reliable enough--doesn't even matter if it is a Dan Wesson or better. Anyone who is really serious about the reliability of the tool, has probably moved past the nostalgia and antiquated notion that you need to do an entire protocol, checking every component of the gun, just to see if the gun you get will actually work or not. If you are really using the gun as a tool, just the idea of having to bend metal springs, throat barrels, change angles on feedramps, stone anything internally or externally, should be cause to pause and ask if this really is the best tool for the job.

By far the best 1911 content out there. Love the test protocol. I say that like I know what I'm talking about LOL
An optic ready TRP full rail would be great
good news! I'm glad they're making a great 1911 optics ready!
THE ABSOLUTE BEST REVIEWER THIS IS INSANE WORK! Thank you!

Excellent evaluation. Appreciate that you have a concise testing protocol that relates to reliability & functionality.

best 1911 channel
Great video, and it's great to see you back on the Youse Tube!
Just ordered one because of your video
Since SPRINGFIELD ARMORY recently released the TRP line , I'll wait and see if they add the AOS to the line. Thanks for sharing.
Hilton , Thank You for a very well done in-depth testing ! KOM674
Thank you for sharing your research and expertise. Very informative, as usual.
Very thorough analysis. Impressive! I’m a subscriber.
Expert advice and time well spent. Thank you.
This is it finally. I build on their slide and frames. I can finally get on.
Good stuff as always. Thanks, Hilton.
I just ordered a ronin operator I love it
Awesome, detailed vid as always!
Great evaluation
I remember Springfield had an optic included MC Operator back in 2020-2021.

Awesome review, Hilton. I feel like it just cost me more money😂
I hope this doesn't mean they're going to Discontinue non Optics cut models
Very good review
Great review! 👍🏻
Great video
Thanks for the video!
Where would you go to get a threaded tube for the SA Operator
Bar-sto
Been wanting an Operator for awhile. This may be my excuse.
Does all Springfield shoot Hollow points like this one
Finally!!!!
Damn nice!!!!
Wish they’d included a mode in the trp line or put at least some checkering on the operator front strap
Have you run the 9mm version function test with similar results?
The new TRPs should have been Optic ready.
It’ll happen, it makes sense even with extra cost involved given the market demand. I’d buy a non optic ready trp .45 for fudd fun and just get the basic operator in 9 for red dot action.
Hopefully it comes out to california

10 Mike Mike! We want this gun in 10mm.
They did that already. It was the TRP Operator 10mm in 5 and 6 inch. The 6 inch came with an optic cut slide.
Would be cool if agency offered the AOS cut so we could retrofit Springfields already owned.
Firing 1,008 rounds would have been *chef's kiss*
He did have 2 failures, so he kinda did haha
I just bought a operator last week 😢 will spring field sell the upgraded aos slide in the future?

Would like to have an original performance shop 10-8 Springfield operator
So they optic cut the rest of the lineup but not the TRP? That's an odd choice.
I’m sure it’s happening

Anybody complaining about MIM parts in the Springfield 1911 line, what the heck did you expect in a $1,200 1911, machined bar stock?

I'm glad to see Springfield sent a nice hand worked pistol that worked flawlessly unlike the Prodigys that Hilton bought that were junk.
I have an older MC Operator… and just put XS sights on it… now I want an optics ready soloution… why do you torture me so much…

No checkering on the front strap is a huge miss. It's actually a deal breaker. I'm tired of pretending it's not.
