Ok, so as has been pointed out in the comment section below, I made an error with my video. I had called the program which was cancelled the Global Hawk. In actuality the program's name is the Sky Guardian, which cost 1.3 billion dollars and was anticipated to deliver an initial 5 armed assets, before its cancellation at the hands of the Morrison government.
Ah, my bad. Just had my airframes mixed up. The one I was referring to is the Sky Guardian, which was worth 1.3 Billion dollars and would provide 5 armed drones.
Uninformed commentary. Missile defence is a priority for this government. Project Air 6500 phase one is under way. Its focus is the joint air battle management system that will coordinate multiple weapons systems to shoot down missiles. Once this is in place appropriate weapons systems can be purchased to link in to it. Please keep putting out content as I enjoy content about our defence force, just do some research first.
The point is that we don't have an air defence system. It doesn't matter if they plan to get one. What matters is tangible results, and actual capability. Unless we have the missile defence capabilities and system relevant to protecting our nation, the second a war breaks out, any hostile nation with any kind of long range strike capability would be able to hit anywhere in Australia unimpeded. On top of that, we have no actual timeframe on how long it will take before either phase of this project is finished. And on top of that, this is at a time where such systems are in high demand, which means that even if it all works out perfectly, we still have the wait times for the air defence systems to be delivered. You must be feeling pretty brave to place your confidence in a non-existent system, that may not be delivered for over a decade.
@@TheMuddleHeadedAnalystYou make some valid points, but an implication that the government is ignoring a vital area of defence rather than it is being addressed but not yet in place are two different things. Nuance is important. I gather that the SM 6 missile and other missiles being purchased by the government can be used by the navy and airforce for missile defence in the interim.

At least the Labor govt. is emphasising "self reliance" as far as budgetary limitations, allow
Yeah. Its a good start, but the problem is that it doesn't go far enough, unfortunately.
The global hawk and predator/reaper are completely separate airframes in completely separate weight classes.
Bit more research needed buddy.

@@TheMuddleHeadedAnalyst all good man. We all make mistakes.
All in all I agree with you.
Thankyou!
