I am soo lucky. My dad when he was a child got a real ww2 German helmet with the original liner. He gave it to me and it is still in perfect condition.
I use restored helmets. Cheaper to buy the Original shell, then I have it sandblasted, I repaint it and replace the Liner and Chinstraps. I use High quality Euro Liners and chin straps. High end decals if using them. I have found most Repro Helmets are not worth it. Most shape wise are not close to an original.

@@milkmanchristian9859 That's unfortunate. My parents are fine with it. As evil as swastikas are I think decals kind of complete an M35. Hope they change their minds and that the paint turns out well.
I bought a M40/55 Finnish contract helmet from IMA, and it was pretty much made in the exact same factory with the same machines and same tooling as the WW2 helmets, the only difference is the liner but other than that it looks just like a war time production.

If you go to "german helmets.inc" this guy is the font of all knowledge with anything german helmets. Hes written many books on decals and helmets and actually authenticates helmets with certificates etc. No one knows more... hes a world known expert. On his site he recommends the best decals to use taking in mind cost/ use/ authenticity etc. I've bought 2 original helmets from him in the past, not cheap (depending on budget)... but genuinely fantastic re furbished originals.
I was lucky a few years back to buy an original German WW2 m35 at an antique shop in Europe for 60€. It was covered in a bunch of crap but after a thorough clean it had both original decals and paint, though the eagle decal wasn’t easily distinguished.
The M38 is incorrect for EM/NCO ranks. The M34 “Schiffchen” is the cap that was originally introduced for enlisted men, and the M38 was an officer specific cap in a similar style that was introduced later. Hessen must’ve assumed that if there’s an officer’s M38, there must be an EM one as well.
I can never find a hat that fits me. I bought a size 61 m43 (because that was the largest size they had) and it barely fits to the point that it puts a big red mark across my forehead because it's so tight.
Fascist okay try elsenau their biggest size is around 63. And 3_reich on eBay is actually nice enough to make your hat as big as a 65 so that’s also a good option.
James who needs to know their items are fine, same as anywhere else, it's the lack of the owners professionalism. find another source if you can for any item.
I have felt with man the line a few times, and at least 4 times they have: sent the wrong item/never sent the item/failed at communication, stuff like that. I have always considered them an absolute last resort if I can’t find what I’m looking for elsewhere.
Good video man,. if you’re open to some constructive criticism, I would suggest a new m43 cap. Your cap has vent holes and the M43 did not have this feature. I would suggest a strum cap and throw some original insignia on there. Once weathered they can look real for very minimal cost.
History Brick refurbished helmets are just the metal that has new paint, new liner, and new chinstrap. The metal won’t get damaged unless you are throwing it at a brick wall or let it rust. I assure you that it won’t damage the helmet, especially when it was repainted and re-lined after the war.
I do both WW1 and WW2 German reenacting, for WW1, there are no accurate repro helmets so we use all repainted originals. As I always say, anything that would damage the helmet would have probably killed you or put you in the hospital if you didn't have it on.

The vent holes are too large and the split pins for the liner are a few cm lower than originals so the liner band will be seen
