Currently running this for one of my groups, only a few sessions in, but it's a lot of fun.

Love Stephen, and the book looks great fun with parrot-boy and ladybird-girl on the cover. Really like the endpaper maps.
Hard to fault the production values and presentation quality. Surprisingly detailed and, wow, it's big!
That flavour of cutesy-gonzo isn't something that attracts me as a GM, or would work for my usual group. Not something I'd pick up to run.
But if someone else decided to run this and I was blessed with an invitation, I get the feeling it could be fun to dive into the BattleZoo with someone who loves that vibe.
It also looks like it'd be a great product to use for maps and a bit of reskinning and repurposing for people who don't do the rainbow-flavoured Doctor Moreau thing.
lol - just saying that made me think this would have been brilliant 17 years ago, when 'Bear' was still living in his 'Big Blue House' and my son was the perfect age for Muppet Treasure Island. This looks like it could be ideal territory for mom or dad running Pathfinder for the kids!

Agree with the other comment, it looks aimed at a young audience with the art style and the type of characters on the front cover. Instant pass with these new books and directions taken with animal characters. Not everything is for everyone, but if you enjoy that sort of thing have fun.

It's for kids, right? It doesn't look like it's for anyone over the age of around 13. The names, art, the cutsie 5e-style menagerie of characters... it looks very much like a kids book.

It is not for kids. Or rather kids can play it, but there are multiple content warnings throughout the book.

I wouldn't say 5e is "cutsie" styled. I don't play 5e anymore, but official art is actually less stylized and cartoony/anime than most fantasy ttrpgs.
Take Pathfinders Monster Core for comparison, scamps and leshies look like they come straight outta an episode of My Little. Hell, even kobolds in 2e are cutified.
I have a lot of problems with 5e, to the point I refuse to run it as a DM anymore, but any cutification is wholly community driven for 5e and very much in contrast to official stylistic choices imo.
