Ferrari 328 GTS - Ferrari Classiche Certified

  • Опубліковано 13 гру 2020
  • The Ferrari 328 was the successor to the Ferrari 308, which was made popular by a hot shot detective in Hawaii, Magnum P.I., the Ferrari 328 was an immediate success from the start. There are many differences between Ferrari 308 and Ferrari 328 such as color matched bumpers, bigger displacement engine, ABS and more. In this video we not only go over the various differences between the Ferrari 308 and Ferrari 328, but also go over Ferrari Classiche and what makes it so important. This Ferrari 328 GTS is a two Owner car that has been Classiche Certified, which adds quite a bit of value to the car. The Ferrari Classiche program is the ultimate way to tell if your Ferrari is original, however it is not cheap. Ferrari Classiche is usually around $10,000 depending on the car. The certification is not usually done on Ferrari 328s so it is somewhat rare to have a 328 with a Classiche certification.

    I was walking on a narrow, twisting, road on Cape Cod by the beach in 1987 when I heard the most beautiful engine ever. It was a red 328 GTS downshifting to climb a hill. The sun was rising over the Atlantic and once dude topped the hill he turned it loose. It was awe inspiring.

    Actually the convex wheels don't automatically signify the car has ABS. It was the upgraded suspension introduced in mid 1988 that necessitated the redesign of the wheels. ABS became an option so there are cars with the newer wheels without ABS. That 308/328 remains an icon!

    I’ve always preferred the 308 because of the nicer interior (I loved the toggle switches because I hate the black square plastic ones) The body design of the 328 is just as gorgeous though!

    Thank you for the lovely video and content on such a beautiful modern-classic Ferrari. I think the 308/328 lines and curves are timeless, and the sound, oh the sound.....!! :-) I've now subscribed to this channel and look forward to enjoying more of these excellent videos. I really love the 328 and will be looking for one in 2021, hopefully to enjoy often if this covid-19 is dealt with swiftly. Keep up the good work :-)

    Thank you for the excellent content. The examples you present are true pieces of art. I would ask if you get a chance to do a review on the Mondial 3.2. As you know the Mondial has always gotten a bad wrap. I now own a 3.2 cabriolet and it’s glorious. Same drivetrain as the 328 with the benefit of 4 seats and a trunk. You can’t even get super cars like this anymore. There are so many compromises. Thanks again for the excellent content. Keep up the good work!!!

    Such a shame the US still insisted on a different bumper design; at least it's a lot more subtle than the poor 308s! And Classiche doesn't just look at the major items on the car, it confirms it is exactly as it left the factory. This looks a really nice example and sounds better than I remember too. the convex wheels mean that the car has the upgraded anti-dive suspension it does NOT mean that it has ABS fitted!
    ( is it possible that an earlier car has the convex wheels retro-fitted and doesn't even have the anti-dive suspension?)
    you need to check the brake fluid container's appearance to see if it has ABS - or better still check if it has the ABS computer

    I'm sorry, but you are making a false statement saying that a Classiche certification ensures a new owner that the car is completely original. You can get the certification done, and then you can do what ever you want after. Other than getting you a ticket to the Classiche cavalcade which is awesome by the way, it means very little when it comes to buyers safety. And who on earth would Classiche certify a 328.

    • @FerrarisOnline
      @FerrarisOnline  3 роки тому

      The Classiche book has photos of all the parts (engine, tranny, diff, etc.) so it is very easy for a buyer to check and make sure nothing has been changed. I always recommend buyers having a PPI done, and they can have the shop check to make sure nothing has been changed since the Classiche. An owner can Classiche any Ferrari, even a Mondial, if they so choose to commit that kind of financial suicide.

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X 3 роки тому

      @@FerrarisOnline
      Far from it. I own three classiche cars and had an F40 PPI'd today. Here's the thing. You can change it and change it back as you like. Unless you structurally and cosmetically change the car beyond reversal, it does not matter.
      The F40 I'm currently looking at here in Europe is a US model with Euro mods. We talked to Maranello and all they want in order for me to certify it, is to install original exhaust and US spec seatbelts. I'm not paying for it as the car will be a driver, and it drives and feel better decatted with Euro seatbelts. But despite the fact that the front and rear bumper is Euro, the fact that it is has Euro seats, has the Euro suspension lifter, Euro fuel bladders, a km speedo etc. all it takes to red book it is the seatbelts and exhaust.
      I understand why Ferrari dealerships like to push the importance of the red book as it is a chance to increase the price, but I think it's safe to say that those of us whom have been in this game for a while, know that it does not really matter.
      I like the fact that I can go on the cavalcade, but that's all there is to it.

    • @FerrarisOnline
      @FerrarisOnline  3 роки тому

      We have had dozens of cars red booked and our Classiche department has always been pretty strict, but maybe it varies. You are correct that it doesn't really matter to a certain degree, however if the objective is
      to increase the value it makes a lot of sense to have it done. Maybe not on a $100K car, but definitely on a $1M+ car.

    • @AB-80X
      @AB-80X 3 роки тому

      @@FerrarisOnline
      Actually it does not make a lot of sense from a value standpoint.
      Classiche only means "original at one point in time". Also, when the car is sold, the certification is no longer valid. You can have a PPI done prior to purchasing the car like I am having done at the moment, and that can be as good as a red book, but cost far less. It is also important to remember that Classiche needs renewal once you get it if you want to keep it up to date. Like I said, it is only a certificate that adheres to the specific time at which the car was certified. Unless the certification is renewed, it means nothing as it is only a one point in time certification.
      Now a car like my 250 GTE will not benefit either. Why would it matter? The service history is spotless and the restoration which was done by Ferrari is 100% documented. Classiche offers me a pass to events but nothing more.
      I think Classiche is something you can convince new clients of being important, but if you visit us on Ferrarichat, especially in the subforums for the Halo cars and the classics, don't expect anyone to think very highly of Classiche. We don't purchase car based off of it, because it tells us nothing about the actual state of the car. What you want is a sound car, and then you can just choose to have it certified if that makes you happy. I've seen Classiche certified cars that could barely drive, and cars that had none which were immaculate.
      Not trying to throw a spanner in the wrench here, but as an enthusiast watching such a video, I think it's only fair to put forth a few of the drawbacks we as seasoned clients find with Classiche.
      Best regards.

    Always found the 328 to look a little awkward, in comparison of the 308. It's a bit fussier and chunky looking.

      The 328 was produced in what can only be described as Ferraris darkest days. Remember the 412? It was bleak just before old man Enzo died.

    "Hi, I'm a woman who only knows the carstuff some guy wrote in my script".... I hate this sort of thing so much: just let the owner (a man, no doubt) talk about his car so we get some real passion. Petrolicious ftw.

      Fun fact for you. I dont use a script. I love these cars, i literally grew up at the race track. And a woman currently owns this car.
