Hey you've got the same crash bars as me! Mine popped a weld on the clamp to the lower bars around 60k, had a welder weld it back up, no problems since and they have taken an absolute BEATING! LOVE THE COLORS OF YOUR BIKE!
Nice! Yeah these altrider bars are pretty sturdy, no complaints. Thanks for the compliment, the color stood out from the others when i saw it and i commited to it lol.
Im glad you enjoyed the video! Ill try to get more content posted, i have about 30+ hours of footage from various projects to edit still but im working on it!
@@atombawm It sure did help, I bought a 2019 AT with 5,900 miles on it a year ago and I’m getting ready to change the air filters now. There are varied opinions regarding the difficulty of the task but watching your video proved that it’s quite manageable. Thanks again and safe riding
Hiflo is just the brand name, i cant attest to a change in sound or performance in comparison to oem filters. But ill listen in more closely tomorrow to see if i notice anything different.
Great tutorial ! I had to my wife this video when she asked “why does it take you so long to change your air filters “🤣! She has a 500x and it’s just a simple filter cartridge under the seat. Also - in reference to the other comment about whether these filters produce any sound. My oiled Twin Air elements definitely gave the intake a noticeable growl. Beautiful bike. I have a ‘17 in red
It does seem like the engineers at honda stay awake at night trying to figure out how to make common maintenance items hard to get to haha. Thanks for the feedback! Means a lot to me.
Someone on the forums mentioned a mod to the inlet manifold for the airbox, gained some power and the intake noise got noticeably louder. I'm trying this mod next week, will update
Great video - This is the most complicated air filter replacement I have ever seen. Almost took half of the motorcycle apart. Honda's design is not good
Ducatis are much worse as @viralshedding mentioned. Granted, they can't feasibly put it under the seat as the upright rear cylinder would be in the way. Honda could have, but didn't. 😆
@@atombawm BMW too! Hell, some of their bikes now require a special proprietary wrench to *add engine oil*. Every bike I've ever owned requires...fingers.
Im not sure if theres a difference between the dct, manual and adv. sport models but for the 2019 dct the only screws to remove one side fairing are shown in the beginning of the video. (1 by dash, 1 on top and 1 on bottom)
Whole motorcycle is poorly designed. Not operator friendly. I have traveled 140 days on mine and do very little field maintenance because of cosmetic BS. I don't like tearing down a bike losing small parts while afield when a little foresight may have made a simple task ... SIMPLE.....
Agreed, Like most machines these days theres been cosmetic facelifts and covers to make them appeal to the end users. Not many people buy a AT then use it to its max capability but making preps and putting it on a diet beforehand helps. Like taking a mx bike to the dunes, gotta mod it or its going to suck sand and chew up chains & bearings. Someday i do hope to see a new bike thats field ready right out of the box.
If what is holding you back from doing such a simple job is losing 3 clips, perhaps the problem is not the poorly designed bike, but the motorcyclist with poor skills and dexterity for mechanical work. At this point it would be better to go to a workshop and have the work done by someone who is capable, rather than complain about an operation that on average is done once a year.
Lol shots fired... im sure all of us can agree that theres pros and cons to all the different makes and models out there. when it comes to maintenance, the AT is undoubtably on the podium for being one of the best in its class for whats required in maintenence intervals per milage. The worst being Aprilia SXV....that thing is needy.
I love how simple and to the point you made this 👍
Glad you liked it!
Best video I've seen on this! Fixing to have to do this on mine.
Great no nonsense video. Love it. Thanks.
Awesome! Im glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching.

Nothing that wasn't needed, everything that was. Thanks!
You dont want to watch 15 minutes of me talking about unrelated things? Lol thanks for the awesome feedback! I try to keep it to the point.
"there we have it".....done by a pro. love this guy.
Im glad you enjoyed the video! Ill try to get more content posted, i have about 30+ hours of footage from various projects to edit still but im working on it!
I appreciate the quick video....this should make changing mine easy.
Really helpful.given me the confidence to do mine. Thanks man.
Awesome, im glad its helpful!
Super job. I wished you did all the how-to's for things I'm looking to do
I did sell the Africa Twin but ill be glad to provide content on anything the viewers want to see (within reason lol)
Nice and simple vid. Perfect. Do you know if this is about the same for the 2020-2023 model?
Thank you! I'm not 100% but i cant imagine itd be far off, probably more clips and bodywork attachment points.
That was a helpful video thank you.
Im glad it helped! as long as i help at least one person then i succeeded in the goal for doing this.
Thank you for the comment.

Hi. Can you remember at what mileage you changed your filters? Thanks
I typically changed them every other oil change unless i rode in a very dusty environment then id change them after the trip.
It varied.
Great video - Does the bike sound better with the high flow filters?

I noticed no discernible difference in sound.

Lol yeah, its definitely buried in there by comparison. Engineers at honda stay up every night looking for ways to make the home mechanic suffer.
Try the KTM 1190 or the Ducati Desert X...have to remove the fuel tank.
The austrians also like tossing in some torx drive fasteners just to keep things interesting lol.

Is the 2022 air filter replacement the same?
Im not 100% certain, perhaps someone can chime in on this topic.
I cant imagine itd be too far off.
Wait wait I have a 2019 it has more fasteners then this. What gives? I see ar least 3 bolt on the top part by windshield?

Nicely done 👍 🤠
Thank you, i appreciate the compliment!
Honda engineers take note it should be two clips and out!
There has to be a simpler way to access lol.
👍
👍🏻
You should say it’s a 1000. There is a bit of a difference on the 1100.
Still helpful though. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback. I didnt think that would have been a concern because there wasnt a 1100cc in 2019.
Ill remember that for future videos.
Nice and good motorcycle. If you want to get rid of her, I'm here
Ill never WANT to get rid of it but everything has a price my friend!
What a terrible design
Yeah it could have been different lol
i mean it isn't insanely terrible...literally just have to remove clips.
